PTS Notes

These latest PTS notes are a travesty. What in the world are they thinking? Everyone adjusts to a new balance meta and they go and rip that rug right out from under us all, forcing us to respec and re-gear yet again. For no reason.

You cannot go and nerf things this drastically after all this time, for no reason. The previous patch was bad enough, but this one is guaranteed to anger a significant portion of the playerbase. People do not like nerfs this drastic. This is not balancing. 33%-63% damage nerfs along with 50% cost increases is way beyond balancing. Changing how mount stamina works after all this time (literally years) is a slap in the face, especially after saying recently it was incorrect for it to work that way (patch notes August 18):
General

Sprinting on a mount on empty stamina no longer incorrectly reduces your speed.

I've seen other MMORPGs alter things this drastically years in and it's never had a positive effect, in fact quite the opposite: They either shut down, people leave for emulated vanilla/classic servers without all the changed nonsense or the company releases vanilla/classic servers because of demand and outcry.

It's been since 2014, nearly six years now, and the game is not so unbalanced that we need drastic patches then drastic nerfs to those patches including further nerfs. People will get angry and leave.

Notably enough, we don't see usual fight between "class mains" or between stamina and magicka or between 1vXers and "zergs", or between dps and support.. absolutely everyone is shocked and disgusted, with exception of few people who simply want everybody nerfed...

And people want to see them adjust the champion system, that would be such a mess if they did :D

Feels like they are just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.

The DoTs were too strong last patch (now) but they have over-reacted with these changes. They need someone leading the team that has a clearer vision.

Actually I think they do have a plan. It’s just not the plan a lot of us would like. We know for sure that at least Guilliame understands this game very well. So like it or not they aren’t just making these changes without understanding them. Whether it’s successful or not is another issue. This is nothing, wait until CP gets changed.

Oh no, it seems to me they DO have a plan, and they’re sticking to it regardless of consequences or reaction.

Exactly. Wtf are they doing? There's no planning in this, it's just throwing changes out there and seeing what happens.

Been reading a theory here on this forum that their plan is to nerf damage across the board to make content more challenging. Ok then wtf with the last patch that buffed DoTs? That's obviously not their plan if they're "experimenting" with damage buffs like that.

Game's been around for almost six years now. It needs tweaks and some balance changes not a total gutting without a plan.

I like to give devs the benefit of the doubt, as they see numbers we can’t, but these are very large swings back and forth. Buff, then nerf below where it was when you buffed it. I can’t wrap my head around it. I’ll need to test various characters on PTS to see what the end result is.

The end result will be worse DPS and sustain than before the August patch, which makes me wonder wtf was up with that August patch in the first place. That's my frustration here. What are they trying to accomplish?

Seems there's a trend towards homogenizing all characters, which (pun intended) takes the character out of the game. In PvP it used to be a rock-paper-scissors setup where your build would be effective against some players and ineffective against others. This encouraged group play, and made you think twice before engaging targets.

Now it's becoming more like rock-rock-rock and a game that used to have a real personality is becoming a bit bland and "same-ey" IMHO.

DoT's were fine last patch. Bad players that couldn't adapt cried hard tears. Now on PTS DoT's are worthless. And how do you make them appear at least somewhat decent still? You nerf a ton of other things.
Wise people asked everyone to stop crying for nerfs. Now everyone feels the pain. Next time someone kills you in PvP learn to adapt and stop crying for nerfs.
