Lag is unbearable

ZOS, you need to do something about the lag issues in this game. PVP and PVE are virtually unplayable on the NA server.

Optimize your system, it obviously can’t handle the load. I play on a 7yo Macbook wirelessly and have no lag. You got to know what your system can handle and what it can’t. Most ppl want to play on the highest settings with a pc that can’t handle it, then blame it on lag.

Pretty sure they didn't specify what they play on lol

Every time I see these threads I wonder what is that person's Internet speed, how they connect (wireless, wired), what CPU, GPU, RAM, etc is in their system and so on.

Been in this game for five years and in PVE and PVP have never experienced the lag so many have.

I do see lag (if that is what you want to call it) on those that play Console and PVP in highly populated areas. Sorry folks but your consoles just cannot handle the load. It isn't server lag in many cases it is the machine you are playing on just cannot handle the load.

I used to complain and rage about the lag and how bad it had gotten. Turns out my cpu heat sink had gotten so caked with dust it was thermally throttling. After cleaning it the game still lags a little during heavy zerg fights in Cyrodiil but that’s it. Check everything on your end before blaming the game.

When you say lag, do you mean lag or fps drops/stutter?

Whenever the server issue is comes up, I see lot's of people put the blame on the OP's system. What does lag due to high latency have to do with the system he plays the game on? Its completely irrelevant.

High latency is either due to an overloaded server, a bad internet connection or a bad wireless connection with a high amount of noise, low signal strength, channel overlap etc. Has nothing to do with cpu or gpu.

Yesterday, I did 2 pledges. DoM and VoM. From the start of DoM till 50% of Vom, I had huge latency that ranged from 300-800. After half of VoM, the high latency was suddenly gone, dropped to 100-120 and all lag (due to latency) was gone. My internet connection is perfect, other group mates faced the same problem too so yes. Its the server and not our systems.

If there was no server issue, as some of you insist on claiming, ZOS would ve never done a server upgrade some months ago (where they acknowledged the issue) nor plan a second one for 2020.

It's a brand new 2019 gaming PC with the latest graphics, intel processor, cpu, gpu, etc at optimal settings specifically for high end gaming. Handles way more intense games without issue than ESO. It's definitely not my PC.

It's really bad today on PCEU.

    Was fine yesterday.

My internet hasn't been good today, either, but I'm taking that into account.

Ugh, ESO has been on PS4 since 2014. Seems that if a game has been out for 5 years, 5 YEARS, that the problem is not the console.

Yep. I bet the performance updates ZOS is working on, which were announced back in March in a pinned thread and repeated during the live stream during QuakeCon, are aimed at decaking GPUs, checking Internet speeds and generally blaming players' systems for issues that have been widely reported and grudgingly acknowledged by ZOS.

I realise some performance issues can be on the users' side. But given this game's history and ZOS' official stance, to assume that is the case in the absence of more information is simply a case of victim blaming and does not contribute to a meaningful discussion. Right now the default culprit should be ZOS, not the players, especially console players, since those systems' specs are known to ZOS, who are the ones responsible for making the game run decently on specs the owners of those systems can't deviate from.

I been playing on a system that was two generations below minimum specs. Yes I had lag.
This year upgraded to a VR ready system, guess what, lag disappeared.

Yeah I'm cheesed...... my ps4 has a rocking 3G wi-fi connection 400Kbps Down 200Kbps up, and I keep getting these infinite loading screens.

    What the hell ZoS?
