For those of you who haven't had time to read through the countless threads about the IC event here's a quick summary of them all:
  • PvE player 1: "Why do ZOS force me to PvP??? I need my TICKETS but PvPers keep attacking me! They're even camping the bosses and sewer bases!"
  • PvE player 2: "Yeah, ZOS should permaban those cheaters!"
  • PvP player 1: "LOL GIT GUD SCRUB LMAO xD !!!"
  • PvP player 2: "Your tears fuel us!"
  • Sane player: "Nobody forces you to PvP. If you just want the tickets you can run the WGT or ICP dungeons. No reason to enter a PvP zone."
  • Varanis Arano: [Gives helpful advice on how to get started with PvP, explains alterative routes to avoid gankers and campers, recommends to enter IC during off-hours]

I for once had so much fun on IC. What a nice experience. Me and my friends made so much progress in PVP even if it was frustrating from time to time. The huge and small battles. What i also liked is that you meet the same players from time to time there and make some connections or a new nemesis. The performance was also fun, really enjoyable. I hope they bring the event back again!

Beautiful summary. Definitely what I needed to read after a rather horrible workday! Lol! Thanks for the much needed laugh!

It is very strange for me to see both groups.

You are playing the same game yet fighting each other...

Looking forward to 2 weeks time when IC will become a graveyard again and the PvP players start whining that it’s not like the old days

Some people want everything handed to them or for it to be easy to obtain.

When you throw in some obstacles, or adversity, they whine that it's not fair, and demand people change everything to suit their desires.

I said this in IC zone in response to another player. You will die in many ways in pvp. How you deal with that says a lot about you as a person.

@VaranisArano I guess you are now popular enough to serve as a spokeperson for PvPers in our reations with PvErs.
Thank God it's not me - I can't stand stupidity of some people. Hey! I'm not talking about you random stranger who reads the spoiler. I'm talking about people who actually do stupid things.

And then there's me, trying to go to IC once, but immediately attacked by (random) infinite loading screens and never bothered to go there again for the rest of the event. :#

PVP players tend to be a bit more competitive than PVE players they're bound to clash, It is strange to me when PVPrs get a kick from targeting PVErs, thats like Conor McGregor punching an old man...

    ..oh wait..

    ..well that's just disappointing.

    A. Why do people in these forums insist on splitting the community into one of two camps?

    B. This event, as many have pointed out, offers two different routs to get the tickets.

    C. Do we need another thread to do a summary of half of General ESO Discussion's from page right now?

Especially in IC, which ZOS didnt even bother to do a below 50 campaign for new players when they split it off from the Cyrodiil campaigns. That an easy adjustment they could make to help low level players, and I'll admit I don't really understand why they didn't in the first place.

I suspect it's because of how the IC works. As you pointed out, combat in ESO isn't about fair, sportsmanlike conduct. The IC exemplifies that. Throwing lowbies in there and saying, "You're safe, this is only new players," would fall apart from vets on sub-50s turning the place into a charnel house... okay, more of a charnel house.

I mean, it could simply be an oversight, but PvE content in their is aimed at players who know what they're doing, and PvP in there is brutal and unforgiving. So, not exactly the best thing to slap a newbie friendly label on.

Did the devs play in the IC for any meaningful amount of time during the event?

Who am I kidding? The answer is probably the same as "Did the devs try to run a guild and secure a guild store on the live server before and after the multi-bidding update?"

I can think of a couple that, I'd be legitimately surprised if they're not haunting the sewers right now.

I can see that as a reason. Imperial City was released when ZOS though PvPvE was viable as end game...and then IC sounded the death knell for that idea. It still has a lot of those "end game" vibes, which I think is a problem when ZOS wants to treat it like just another DLC event.

So, I do think a Below 50 IC option would be beneficial for low level players.

After all, Cyrodiil and BGs have the same sort of issues with experienced players on PVP alts going on and they both have Below 50 modes. (Made worse by ZOS selling skills lines.) So that's not probably not a big deal for ZOS.

In those cases, its less about safety, and more about "your opponent might be more experienced, but at least they are still leveling up like you are!" Its unfair, because ESO is terrible about matchmaking for inexperienced players at any level. However, it's still more forgiving than the current status quo where new players hop into the No CP campaign fighting players with CP 160 gear sets or worse, the CP Campaign.

I'm sure ZOS had their reasons for not adding a Below 50 IC campaign, and I'm willing to bet that it would be pretty empty for most of the year. Still, it bothers me that for this event, Imperial City is the best way for new, low level players under level 45 to get tickets, and ZOS threw them in the pool with all the fully leveled characters after taking away the Below 50 option.

yeesh... I actualy completely forgot that you can't even queue up for WGT or IP under lvl 45. finding a manual group is not exactly impossible, but would be pretty difficult since not everyone is willing to take lowbies through them. interesting conundrum this creates, doesn't it... i hope they consider all the feedback and make at least some adjustments, possibly to both IC and the event involving it.

I’ve done the event every day, and got jumped twice by campers, who I then saw die to the crowd that was following me. I’ve seen two enemy groups, one of which was twice the size of those of us going in, yet we wiped them out. It has been my experience that the better PvP players don’t lower themselves to camping a door. It’s the bad PvPers who can finally get some kills.

Yup, that's EA's MO. Latch on to a good developer and drain the life and soul out of it until there's nothing but an empty husk to be cast aside like a used tissue. I mean, really, you'd think the EA rep having horns and smelling like brimstone might be a clue not to sign the contract, but developers still do it for that short lived period of glory in the industry.

Hello guys, this is the OP.

Can we please all take a deep breath and remember that this was supposed to be a fun thread mocking the pointlessness of the other IC event discussions, NOT another of those threads with a level of toxicity that'll get it locked soon.

    Thanks!

While I'm usually as much a fan of dog piling on EA as anyone, this was also Games Workshop, so keeping the game up after the license was out there might, really, not have been EA's choice. It's possible that GW was the one expecting WoW money, and expected EA to give that to them regardless how well the game was doing. Normally, EA has no qualms about leaving MMOs in maintenance mode for decades if they're making money off it. So, it makes me suspect that this might not be, strictly, on EA. Especially since I've seen GW kill off a number of other successful licensed releases without explanation.

its possible. but it wasn't game workshop that gutted Mythic, eventually merging it with Bioware - throwing a lot of their developers into swtor team, while putting Warhammer on life support with one minor attempt at post release content - YEARS before license expired. that was EA. it IS indeed possible that after games workshop saw how EA was treating their license they didn't want to renew it, but IMO it took EA essentially prematurely pulling the plug to get to that point.
