what do you enjoy about ESO?

pretty straightforward question. what are the things you enjoy in this game? what makes you log in when you do and play for (maybe) hours?
I'll start with my own opinion:
I love PVE in general in MMOs, and this game has a very good PVE experience, good and interesting quests, you can solo through most content avaiable in maps, you can explore around, the world is beautiful, and they have only bettered themseves in newer zones.
I mainly enjoy questing around. I like to do all avaiable quests in all maps. I?m still doing cadwell's gold, and then I'll start with the new episodes and dlcs. I have done vyanderfell, thieves' guild, and orsinium.also I'm half in summerset nd i just started elsweyr.
I love changing my outfit and colors, just to vary things up a bit. And riding my horse and just exploring around and see where it takes me is also realy fun to me.

so, what do YOU like to do? :)

Read lore from the game world. I click every book I see.

    Create backstory for my characters.

    Pve quests/storylines

Decorate houses that reflect the character who owns them.

Create outfits that reflect the character's personality.

    Trade/sell/shop in the various markets

Fishing. It's great to do when you're getting lunch or just wanna enjoy the scenery.

    Harvesting mats. Very satisfying.

I also like, outside the game, seeing pics and videos of other folks homes and decor.

The landscape, being able to visit vastly different places with different cultures is pretty cool, I'm always exited to visit a new zone. Also randomly coming across other players having a dance off or something tends to brighten my experience, Oh and just how good everything looks.

The scale of the game. It's been my only game since 2015 pretty much.

Building a small guild has been ace, helping others.
Making mates on this forum and in game to discuss stuff with, theory craft, generally being cool

    Gameplay wise
I started out PvE, doing it all, every quest, slow levelling.
Then got into harder PvE and upped my game
Then PvP focus as trials didn't cut it
Flicked back to high end PvE for a bit then hooked on Battlegrounds for ages, then Cyrodiil
NoCP for a bit, back to CP
Then Imperial City a ton and quality small scale
Building up from.zero gold to millions and beyond as a side game

I love the fact that if it gets stale you can dp something else.

Why should I not be? I check here every few days. It's a great reminder to see zos keeps nit giving a damn about fixing anything but the crownstore. So for reminding me to not keep playing. :P

And the issue is, a lot of people share this mentality. Look my threads "zos do you even care anymore".
All you need to see. Sadly still nothing changes. People keep eating it up or not giving a damn aswell.

I would still play and like the game if the focus would be at the game and not stupid monitization.

Look, they release elsweyr. Necro. So buggy. Ever since pts. Made multiple posts/reports about the bugs affecting the classes core skills.
2 weeks ago, the same bugs since pts of elsweyr. I alt+f4d after raid and havnt logged in since.
And all you see is stuff of crownstore. Zos employees are all over the crownstore related threads. But core bugs of the newest class, not a single word, not a single actual fix for 4 months.
But something has a typo in the crownstore, they hotfix immediately taking down the server.

This is not acceptable. And I am confident this won't change in the future.

Also, we live in a free society. So you can be in whatever forum you have access to. That is what I do. And nobody should judge it. Just as I don't judge you for going onto any website.

I want a massive scale (Oblivion and Skyrim are not massive) open world medieval fantasy world to explore with beautiful landscapes, nice music, decent combat and single player. ESO delivers on all this except the single player bit.

Being a solo PvE player, the fact that ESO is multiplayer is a multifaceted drawback but, in fairness, it supports solo play reasonably well.

@xMovingTarget Well first, I wasn't judging so no need to feel judged I was honestly just intrigued, you don't often see people on game forums that they don't play. Also I can't comment on how long it takes for them to fix stuff as I know nothing about programming but asking them to not capitalise on monetization is like asking google to not sell your data.

Do hope you find a game you enjoy tho (would put a thumbs up but there's no emote for that)

Lessee.... the lore (started TES when Arena released, so LONG TIME ES fan), the questing, the world, the graphics, the races, the animals and enemies, exploring the world in detail, figuring out housing, buying costumes/cosmetics and nifty mounts....

Not so much dungeons, delves or guilds - got mega burned out on all that in wow and rift, and certainly not pvp (never was my thing, did get involved in it in wow - burned out pretty fast, not going there again ever).

I enjoy the storytelling. It’s an intrinsic part of human nature. This IP does it very well and it’s time they get recognition along the lines of D&D, Forgotten Realms, and even Tolkien.

For the most part I love the lore. I don’t love what this current combat team has done (unnecessarily) to the lore and they should be ashamed with what they’ve done. If it wasn’t for the rest of Tamriel being so gosh darn interesting I might have taken drastic measures.

I like the quests, they are like interactive “choose-your-own-adventure” stories I read as a kid. The book had an ending, it’s the parts in the middle that you had control over. I would read that book over and over, making different decision combinations each time. I work in a bookstore and kids from the past 10 years don’t know about those books, we have literally 3 books like that written by R.A. Montgomery from the 80s and I have to special order the Goosebumps ones... ANYWAY... I replay quests over and over just to see all the possibilities so it’s the “replayability” of ESO that I love.

I like the pvp reasonably well. It’s never going to be as good as my favorite first person shooter Team Fortress 2, but it’s good enough for an mmorpg. Pvp here is a joke and people who get worked up about it or proud of it can’t see the joke. In an rpg like this, with thousands of variables, especially cp pvp on the pc which allows mods, all of it is a wash. The private mods that aren’t released, the mathematical cheese churning every update, having a connection and machine better than your opponent, the lack of anti-cheat, no lobbies, etc, there’s WAY too many uncontrolled variables to take pvp seriously.

I don’t like trials and raids. Never have, never will. Didn’t like them in WoW, didn’t like them with a cow. And yes, I have a great guild full of supportive people who like me enough to invite me to groups so it has nothing to do with “toxic players” or “loner” issues. I don’t like the pressure, the stress, the exhaustion. It’s not fun. Trials are not fun. Dlc Vet hardmode dungeons are not fun. It’s a waste of time and money in my opinion to make more of them for a minority of people who want to play hokeypokey as fast as humanly possible.

The majority of the posts on the enjoyment of this mmorpg are "I enjoy solo blah blah blah"
    Goes to say.

Here is what I hoped to enjoy.
Take a class. Use weapons for abilities, gear sets for stats, and apply those changes to overcome all combat areas.
But then the performance became terrible.
Just when you though that they would balance the game by nerfing SnB and Fury/7th, they added all the DoT crap and an OP magplar.

    They cant get it right.

I like going through the massive amount of story content and exploration in each zone. Whether it's a main quest chain or side quests, there are a lot of interesting and fun scenarios to go through and you can feel like you're helping people and making progress as you go along. I've always appreciated that questing in this game isn't just "go kill X things and come back and then do it 928572938 more times until you level" and there's no reason to care about why you're doing those things because you just want the exp. This game has its share of quests that boil down to "go kill X things" or "gather Y things" or "talk to these different NPCs," and if you want to just click through everything and deal with objectives you can, but if you let the NPCs talk then you get the richness of the story and you can think about what you're actually accomplishing within that context. I honestly don't even care about exp or quest rewards in most cases, I just want to get stuff done and see what happens. And many of the stories that are told are very well-written and thoughtful.

When I'm questing through a new zone I spend a lot of time just running around looking at stuff and getting to know the place. Like someone said it's nice to see all of the small touches sprinkled around that don't even have a purpose beyond being cool or interesting to look at. There are also a lot of just plain beautiful areas in the game world.

I like that there are so many enjoyable characters to interact with and in some cases get invested in to the point that you genuinely care about them (whether in or out of character or both). It's part of what makes it rewarding to do quest content, running into recurring characters and seeing what happens with them and feeling like you're part of a team. It also adds some emotional punch to storylines where you care what happens to the people involved. And in some cases you meet characters who are just fun or quirky or add some liveliness to the landscape.

I like the range of incidental activities available, from fishing to thieving to housing to guild trading to Fashion Scrolls. It gives us lots of stuff to do when we don't feel like doing the big activities.

I like that pvp isn't all about who's got a bigger figurative axe than everybody else. I like siege warfare where I can contribute to an objective without actually being good at fighting 1v1 or 1vteam. Taking or defending a keep can be pretty exciting when you just barely make it through and win a hard battle.

I like that there are group dungeons and trials that you can do without having to be a super leet raid machine. It's pretty cool getting through with a big group and knowing the mechanics and contributing to a group objective. There's a place for hardcore endgame raid type people, but I like that I can still do that sort of activity without being that hardcore.

There's probably other stuff I could think of but it's late and I'm tired so we'll go with that.

Monetization is not the problem. Not at all. But not fixing old bugs/lag issues/performance issues while your menetization gets more and more aggressive, that is a real issue. Sadly not only with ZoS. Whole gaming industry going this path. Because we all are sheep and support this.

    So many things.

I love the graphics and the whole game world. Everything is so beautiful and I do like to wander around.

I really like all the different mounts and pets and keep hoping that they make it so we get more interaction with them.

The quest are really good and also something I hope is that they put more long/big quests in the dark brotherhood or thieves guild.

I know there is trouble with things but this stays my favourite game it relaxes me I have fun with people and there are many things I like about the game, it is a shame though that sometimes people forget this because they are so frustrated with delay or glitches. I think the people that really take time and read the lore take it all in and follow the story, those people get a lot out of the game.
I see so many people racing past and like with the dungeons I have never had the chance to really take the lore in. Such a shame.
