If someone looks like they're trying to solo a World Boss or Dolmen, should you:

1) Watch until they've finished. Then wait until it re-spawns.
2) Watch, and only jump in if they get in trouble.
3) Just jump in regardless.

Jump in and wail on the mobs.

    1. There is no kill stealing in this game. If you get a hit in, you get credit.
    2. Everyone gets 10% more exp if there are two of you.
    3. 3 or 4 get the same exp as a solo player does
    4. More than 3 or 4, someone else is going to jump in anyway.

And, in the case of dolmens, the mob count increases by the number of player around the dolmen, so your not reducing any exp for any involved player.

No, I am not talking about the Alikir/Auridon Dolmen Zerg, that is a different animal all together.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Are you asking because you're unsure how you should act, or are you upset that someone jumped in where you didn't want them to?

    Personally, for me...
Dolmens and WBs are in open overland area. If I need XP to ping my next level, or I'm farming for the gear that WBs and Dolmens grant, I'm jumping in.

If I need to complete that boss/dolmen I'll join in.
If I don't need that boss/dolmen and see them about to die I'll help.

Jump in, for the most part. And I always toss some heals or help if I see someone struggling with a fight. Never once has anyone told me they were upset with that, most of the time they friend me.

I tend to jump in as most often if I’m that close to it, I was there to kill it too.

This one.. I saw someone solo'ing a Boss today and wasn't sure if I should help. I didn't, and they didn't seem too happy about it. Gave me one of those "dislike" type emotes.

Sometimes I go to solo world bosses just because I see people in the area that look like newbies(no outfit/playing with weird abilities/sub50 etc). I expect you to jump in and get some sweet loot to level up on.

If anyone gets offended by you joining in ignore em. Anything open world is fair game and you should just do you and have fun.

Yeah, they probably were confused about you watching them struggle lol and were hoping for your help.

I used to hesitate, myself. I mean, how are you really supposed to know what they want (help; or for you to stay out of it) unless they say something?

But then I just came to the realization that they're in open content area that is technically meant for group play, so if they want you to stay out, they need to say something. (other than giving you grief after it's over if you decided to do the opposite of what they actually wanted.)

I feel somewhat bad about killing bosses that come up during questing for other people. But world stuff, I don’t feel bad.

As other people have said this is a multiplayer game with no kill stealing, if you're doing something in the open world you should expect other people to join in. If someone is trying to solo a boss they might be disappointed that another player showed up, but they shouldn't be angry or blame that player.

And I definitely think jumping in to help someone who wanted to try soloing a boss is preferable to leaving someone to do it solo and then waiting for it to respawn when they wanted or needed help, or even if they just don't mind.

This is an MMO. If you don't expect people to jump in when in overland content, plenty of single player games out there.

I might be after jewelry or gear. There's other ways to test your build or prove yourself. Solo a dungeon, jump in vMA. Overland stuff is for anyone and everyone.

Yeah, same here. If I see someone soloing a wb or something, I like to help them out, especially if they are struggling. So far I've always gotten a positive response from "ty" to a friend request.

Sometimes I'm "on call" in Elsweyr, and I'll go from wb to wb helping people who ask in chat. It's one of the few bright spots in this game for me lately.

If you do an public dungeon at odd hour and run into another player request an group up.

Dolmens is no issue soloing even on bad build, world bosses can be an challenge. However you want loot and achievement.
Soloing the boss is anyway just an personal achievement or training. In last part he would move to another boss anyway.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

I've actually started to kill vamps in an area in Rivenspire for the vamp kill achieve, and someone ask me to leave because they had a person with them and didn't want to lose the 10% exp if I accidentally hit "their" mob. So I left. I just went back later. Vamps are in other places too, wasn't a big deal.

If I need the dolmen or WB, I jump in. If not, I watch and see if they need help and then help, or I go on my merry way. I figure, it's an MMO... people are going to do their thing and it really makes me no nevermind if they pop in or not. <3

Please jump in. I play a tank who is really slow at DPS and I could use the extra help to end it quickly.

I just jump in because there is no way to know what the other player is trying to accomplish - so don't try.

When my tank is soloing a WB, it is very safe and the boss' demise is inevitable but it takes a very long time. So any dps that comes along is most welcome.

When my 'pug healer' is soloing a WB, she kills just fine but also enjoys others joining in. Not because she needs the help but because she'd rather focus on heal/support/buff than killing and is very adept at instantly changing focus.

On my dd's, yes sometimes they are trying to verify they can solo a particular WB but that is not usually the case and even when it is, she embraces that other players' objectives are just as valid as hers and if she really wants to solo the boss, she'll wait the few minutes for his next respawn.

I do run a lot of alliance zone WBs and can solo most of them. Overall though, I'm happy to have others join and, on balance, I've found most other players do as well.

If I see someone going solo against a group boss, I'll look at their character level, how strong the boss is, and how well they're doing. If they look like they're doing fine, I'll leave them be.

If I'm soloing a group boss and someone else jumps in, I don't get upset. If I really want to take out that boss solo, I'll just try again another time. And a lot of the time it's a low-level player who wanted to clear that boss but wasn't strong enough to do it on their own, so when they saw someone fighting the boss they took the opportunity to jump in-- and they will usually thank me afterward, which is nice.

Bottom line-- if you aren't sure, you can always ask them if they need/want help. They might be too busy to reply, but if they have everything under control then they can probably take a few seconds to type NO without getting wiped out doing it.

And for that matter, if one or more low-level players need help tackling a group boss, they'll usually ask for help in zone chat, so it's probably safer to assume that if no one asked for help, they probably don't need/want it.

This. Unless there is a reason I need to be killing that boss.

I have had someone try to chase me away from a dark anchor that they wanted to solo. They were also upset that I messed up their General summoning ritual, if I recall. They yelled at me after it was over about how I ruined it for them. Hmm.... I used to see them running around. I have not seen them in the game for years, now. Wonder where they went to... Meh, not really.

I unno...I was soloing Kvatch Arena REALLY late one night and a guy jumped in. I used deep thoughts over and over and let the mobs kill him a few times then finished off Panthius.

I don’t have the right to expect to solo a World Boss; but if I clearly fought to the final round on a DLC world boss and wasn’t dead or struggling, let me die once at least.

I don’t get mad though. I like that particular boss and folks jump in all the time. If they are under 50 I thank them for the help.

Used to be a bit of a boost if you were just near another. However it may have changed. And just two only wailing on content is rare as some one else always runs by. For sure you get less if a number of other players are around.

Anyway, if you have something to do in front of you, then do it if you want..

    With one exception....

If someone is dealing with a mob or boss, don't steal the chest or harvest node next to them. That's not cool.
