Here’s my view on it:
Most of the time when I met fake tanks it was in a random normal dungeon. And very often, it was a high/max CP, high DPS character. Quite often it was me. Why? Because once you reach a certain point, normal dungeons can be soloed. Whenever it happened in the way described above, it was a smooth run, as an endgame pve player can survive a normal base-game dungeon even as a DD tanking the bosses.
In veteran? That’s a whole different issue. Fake tanking in vet dungeons is a big no-no. Simply leads to the group wiping.
At that point, why even do the normal dungeons? If it's a pledge, you get better rewards from vet/HM. If it's a random, it's more fun/challenging to do random vet than a random normal you can faceroll. In the mean time you're going to alienate your group more often than not. They might actually be interested in learning dungeon mechanics, or taking their time with the story, or simply not rushing ahead to the point where they can't keep up.
If you pull that sort of thing in a pug without discussing it, you're not the bomb. You're a self-absorbed, disrespectful person. Especially if you do it for the added advantage to yourself of faster queues. If you can solo it as you say, then do that.

Now please read the "Spoiler" in my first post.
@Linaleah chill pls - I pull the mobs and then slaughter them. Everyone stays alive unles they do sth really stupid.
To be honest I do not consider myself a "real tank". The point of this thread is to show that tanking in nonDLC dungeons, even vet - is very easy at least for people who run every single one of them more than 100 times.
My intention here is to ask people to stop raging when they see an "unconvential" build for tanking. I had even ppl ragequiting or throwing insults just because I wasn't using a shield.
Just wait untill the first boss and see if tank keeps taunt and survives.
Also please stop healing the snake boss in Arx Corinium - I have to say that to every single pug group.
And ofcourse don't use ice stave's heavy attacks on boss - it taunts the boss to you.

He is allways sprinting through the dungeon, herding most of the mobs to the boss, where he kills everything. Often times he is the last one standing as the rest of the team dies to red circles of stupidity - Even some max CP players. This happens even in veteran dungeons! The most bizzare thing is that sometimes he is doing more dps than the rest of his team!
And when someone asks him about his build, he just says: "heh thats my tanky PvP build".
How is that possible? Why do I allways get a "fake tank" in dungeons?!Oh... right... thats probably because it's me
As you can see not all "fake tanks" aren't able to tank a veteran dungeon. For that reason you should not hate whisper someone who queued as a tank but is using a two-hander and bow.
