    Here’s my view on it:

Most of the time when I met fake tanks it was in a random normal dungeon. And very often, it was a high/max CP, high DPS character. Quite often it was me. Why? Because once you reach a certain point, normal dungeons can be soloed. Whenever it happened in the way described above, it was a smooth run, as an endgame pve player can survive a normal base-game dungeon even as a DD tanking the bosses.

In veteran? That’s a whole different issue. Fake tanking in vet dungeons is a big no-no. Simply leads to the group wiping.

At that point, why even do the normal dungeons? If it's a pledge, you get better rewards from vet/HM. If it's a random, it's more fun/challenging to do random vet than a random normal you can faceroll. In the mean time you're going to alienate your group more often than not. They might actually be interested in learning dungeon mechanics, or taking their time with the story, or simply not rushing ahead to the point where they can't keep up.

If you pull that sort of thing in a pug without discussing it, you're not the bomb. You're a self-absorbed, disrespectful person. Especially if you do it for the added advantage to yourself of faster queues. If you can solo it as you say, then do that.

Now please read the "Spoiler" in my first post.

@Linaleah chill pls - I pull the mobs and then slaughter them. Everyone stays alive unles they do sth really stupid.

To be honest I do not consider myself a "real tank". The point of this thread is to show that tanking in nonDLC dungeons, even vet - is very easy at least for people who run every single one of them more than 100 times.
My intention here is to ask people to stop raging when they see an "unconvential" build for tanking. I had even ppl ragequiting or throwing insults just because I wasn't using a shield.
Just wait untill the first boss and see if tank keeps taunt and survives.
Also please stop healing the snake boss in Arx Corinium - I have to say that to every single pug group.
And ofcourse don't use ice stave's heavy attacks on boss - it taunts the boss to you.

Life's too short to read the spoilers 😅

    1. A large majority of players you will see in PUG normal are so new or inexperienced that they don't know most bosses in this game will attack random teammates and do other things despite being perfectly, seamlessly taunted. They don't block, roll, don't use synergies, don't have the synergy passive in Undaunted unlocked or skill-pointed, have low HP, and when they die, they mistakenly believe they had a fake tank or healer. Of course their dying due to not blocking, rolling or positioning correctly is never their fault. Likewise, players who see the boss running around who assume the boss isn't taunted are wrong in most cases. Maybe a majority of bosses in ESO teleport, jump, run around while being seamlessly taunted.
    2. As anyone reading this thread can see, a significant portion of the player base doesn't understand that a good tank will have either a bow or staff to keep a crusher enchant up on the boss. Players who think a tank is fake when they see the tank using a bow don't have any business complaining about fake tanks or pretty much anything else related to how dungeons and bosses work.
    3. That said, players who go in a PUG as high level, force the team to rush, and then retort in places like this when called on it that "if you don't want to rush, form your own team" have it exactly BACKWARDS, and are selfish *** generally. If -you- want to rush content because -you- are overpowered in relation to it, then -you- form a team of likeminded players, or -you- run the content solo, or -you- stay out of normal dungeons, not the other way around. Or -you- are a jerk.

I don't mind fake tanks unless they are garbage DPS. Fake tanks that pump out high DPS and understand mechanics are always welcome in my groups.

For some time already, every time I queue through Dungeon Finder I allways get a "fake tank". Well it has to be a "fake tank", as he is not using sword and shield and he barely ever blocks, right?
He is allways sprinting through the dungeon, herding most of the mobs to the boss, where he kills everything. Often times he is the last one standing as the rest of the team dies to red circles of stupidity - Even some max CP players. This happens even in veteran dungeons! The most bizzare thing is that sometimes he is doing more dps than the rest of his team!
And when someone asks him about his build, he just says: "heh thats my tanky PvP build".

How is that possible? Why do I allways get a "fake tank" in dungeons?!
Oh... right... thats probably because it's me :D
As you can see not all "fake tanks" aren't able to tank a veteran dungeon. For that reason you should not hate whisper someone who queued as a tank but is using a two-hander and bow.

Well, before I read your spoiler I was going to say that if you get a fake tank in your group 100% of the time, then you are the fake tank. :D

As long as everything dies and there are no deaths (other than stupid self inflicted ones) you can que as a tank all day long and I don't care. When your impatience waiting in ques ruins the play for the others in your group then you are just a big ***

You always get fake tanks cuz the vast majority of players are too non-confrontational to kick them. No accountability makes the behavior flourish. Hence why I keep begging, again and again, for players to get some stones and stand up for themselves and kick queue jumpers.

except. there are always stragglers. mobs go for group members at random even if you hit them sometimes, unless you taunt and/ or damage enough every. single. mob. before running off. and even then, if you don't continue tanking them they run back to the group, so it becomes an unholy stressful mess.

I don't give a damn if you tank with a staff - heck I tank with a staff myself, whenever SO and I run dungeons (which happens to be almost daily lately) I give a damn about the whole "oh i'm tanking all the mobs just fine" are you sure about that? are you sure you are not even noticing how much work the rest of the group has to do to stick to your pace and how much they may need to give up on just to have the boss kills and loot count for them?

the heedless sprinting to boos with no regard for anyone else is what i take issue with.

but then again, you seem to be an inconsiderate person in general, given your behavior in IC. so not at all surprising.
