Silver Kettle, Masterwork placement

I have just tried to place my Silver Kettle, Masterwork on the Provisioning Station, Elsweyr Grill (as it is at the Rimmen crafting Station), but once it is placed I am no longer able to interact with the Provisioning Station. I have tried suspending it above the Provisioning Station but this ploy only works when it is so far above it that it looks ridiculous.

Am I missing something?

I can only say that the stations are very sensitive. Objects placed on them or the station being placed to close to an object prevents it from working.

That's typical. My provisioning station experience is that at least with the grill it can get nearer walls and other furniture. The campfire one has a much bigger zone of 'thou shalt not put anything near'.

Yes, I knew this but was really hoping that the kettle placed on the Provisioning Station would be different because it doesn't cause a problem in Rimmen (I cook on it frequently) so it can't be simply a mechanical (programming) issue.

The one in Rimmen looks the same but it is 'game program side' not 'player placed side' like the furniture we can decorate with. They look identical but their interaction with us is not identical.

I was unable to place lighting on or in my stone table alchemy station, but I got my Auger(sp?) of the Obscure to float creepily in the flames of the campfire provisioning station.

Your nerf suggestion is dumb. Learn to counter other players instead of having the game rebuilt to your ability level.

It has to do with the sizes of the item hit boxes and intersections of footprints. I've run into this with the provisioning fire grate. My experience is there is a bit more flexibility on the placement of non-active items and less for interactive items. My suspicion is the hit box for interactive items tends to be larger than the graphic which makes it easier to overlap the item's footprint without knowing it. About all you can do is try out different item placements and hope for the best.

    Yeah, I know.

I don't really understand why they make them this way.

Like it should matter if you have a kettle on a grill, or if it is placed inside a fireplace.

Interestingly, you can place an incense burner inside/below the campfire station (so the smoke rises up from it) without affecting its function, however.

All I can suggest is to place two of the grills back to back, or side by side, in a larger kitchen and then place the kettle on one of them, leaving the other free to use.

Then you (at least, kind of) get the look you want, without sacrificing functionality.
