Zone Lock and Illegal Daedric Summoning

Like many others here in the Eso community, I thought the implementation of faction lock has been a very positive and great reintroduction to the game!

Here is the problem though, me and many others I have talked to think it is just not enough. This game always has been about the three alliance war, we all have to pick a side in the beginning, but we can seemingly travel all over Tameriel with no repercussion!

I remember when each alliance was locked to their own alliances territories, I think the reintroduction of this will have a positive impact on the loyalty to our faction instead of it just not mattering that much. I remember when people were very proud of their alliance even outside of pvp!

Imagine walking in Deshaan on your Ebonheart character when all of a sudden you see a general of the Daggerfall Covenant right in front of you just standing next to a guard and the guard doesn't care?! This is very immersion breaking and I think many would agree it doesn't make sense for an enemy of your alliance to be allowed within your borders. I think if you want to be in deshaan, well you should make an Ebonheart Pact toon!

Anyway, making necromancy was a new fun immersive touch to Elsweyr, but I think this system could be improved even more. While in Summerset taking quests form the divine prosecution( A group against daedric worship or contact in all ways) I see a sorcerer with his scamp and twilight there accepting the quest too! Whaa?? Haha, well now that Zos has started to see that making certain skills illegal brings more realism into the world making it feel more alive I think running around with your daedric pets should be illegal too. I mean imagine being a citizen and you see a man running around with demons by his side!

This is just a few suggestions I personally think would make the game more immersive and lore friendly :)

Yes. There's gotta be a way to not scare off the normie whales that brought us One Tamriel. How about you get chased if you're wearing obvious styles or painting of your faction? It also doesn't make sense that everyone just knows who you are.

Well I wouldn't go that far, but maybe an introduction system for meeting players and learning their names would be interesting!

It would be interesting if using a PvP title on a character would make you a "kill on sight" target for guard NPCs in towns of the enemy alliances :)
Maybe also the same for using your Alliance Warhorse.

How would you ever finish the lorebook grind for the Mages' Guild? It took me several zones beyond all the AD zones to finish it on my stamcro (Glenumbra, Stormhaven, Alik'r, Deshaan, Shadowfen & Stonefalls).

This idea has zero advantages and lots of costs in terms of fun and base game design.

There were no zone locks when I started playing 2 years ago, and I can guarantee you that if there was zone locks I wouldn't still be playing now.
From what I've heard it was horrible before One Tamriel, but if you want to be "lore friendly" (lol) and restrict yourself to only your own alliances zones no-one is stopping you from doing just that.

Your plan is for zos to announce they are effectively removing 2/3 of the game for a lot of folk.

This does not seem like an especially well thought out plan.

Sorry you feel that way, but I think enough time has passed where zone lock an be added in again. If you wanna go to other alliances zones just make a different alliance toon. This is an Elder Scrolls game so lore is very important, if I see an enemy soldier in my alliances town how does this make sense at all?? We might as well have Jorunn the Skald king be a high elf, i mean for petes sake!!

I think myself and a lot of true Elder Scrolls fans would rather have the game fail than for it to break lore.

Imagine playing Skyrim and Ulfric Stormcloak is buying magicka potions in the town square of Solitude!

Oh I assure you it is, hopping around from zone to zone alliance territory to alliance territory makes the alliance you choose not feel special enough? I mean whats the difference between deshaan and wayrest for most players... Just a different look and location right, you don't feel any connection to it. If we had zone lock, it would make players more proud and connected to their alliance obviously and this is a big part of the game as one of the first things the game asks you to pick is an alliance

Not to mention for most players races are already faction locked, which is a good thing! A wood elf ebonheart pact character makes no sense and shouldnt be allowed :)

As was suggested before, if locked zones seem more appealing, by all means, play that way on your own characters. But wanting to limit others’ gameplay to fit your own notions of what the game should be is incredibly selfish.

No thanks. Those of us who’ve been here since the beginning have already been there, done that. One Tamriel got rid of all that alliance lock nonsense, at least for PvE.

Having the freedom to travel to any zone in the game and quest there trumps lore considerations, IMO.

Actually regardless of what the lore in game says about you while in that portion of Caldwell’s silver or gold 1t makes sense immersion wise.

Hear me out in the real world just because 2 countries are at war doesn’t mean the normal citizens(non soldiers) can’t or don’t interact. Lore wise it is explained away that you’re true identity is essentially masked so to npc you appear to be from that part of the world.

Everyone should be able to write their own story. I am a Khajiit for the Pact, yet I don't -really- care for the factions at all... I consider myself pretty much neutral. Locking people to a faction like that would be bonkers here... just my two cents.

Back then you could only see players from your faction in the game outside of Dungeon Finder/PVP. This resulted in dead zones for most of the map since the only people in other faction areas were just doing it for Cadwell's Silver/Gold. There was never a true "lock" where you could never visit another area, at least to my knowledge. The only difference from now and back then is you can travel at any time yourself now and you can see other players from other factions.

Summoning daedra isn't illegal. In the other TES games I can wander around summoning whatever daedra I want and no one bats an eye, not even at the height of the Oblivion Crisis.

So no, you can't use lore to nerf sorc pets.

Finally, go finish your Main Quest and Start Cadwell's Silver and you'll get the handwavy lore reason behind why no one in other alliances bothers you.

Then consider that pre-One Tamriel was an incredible railroad, made old zones useless, and prevented you from grouping with friends of other factions. Think, for even one second, what that does to end game content.

ZOS isn't going to revert One Tamriel's open world for the sake of your immersion.

Divine Prosecution wouldn't allow it from a lore stand point.

Also cadwell silver and gold was confirmed not canon in the elder scrolls universe, this is why it is never metioned again.

This isn't for my immersion is is for the betterment of the entire game and the world the game is sworn to uphold.

I'm sorry but if you wanted to group with your friend just create a new character :)

No this isn't selfish, I suggest this for the betterment of the community since everyone I have talked to (some even who played since alpha) have wished to see this feature return!

I think the game has become too lax and casual so for true Elder Scrolls fans and those who care about the universe, this shouldn't be allowed... Your personal fun is not more important than the lore, so that is selfish to say :)

It would be a bad move for ZoS to do this. The devs would never support that.
