Haven't played since Thieves Guild..help?

So I haven't played the game since Thieves Guild came out some years ago but am now wanting to jump back into the world. Currently, in the middle of the huge install back onto my machine so while I wait I figured I would ask for a little guidance. I would love to check out all the DLC's and content since then but do I need to buy them all separately? or will ESO+ give me everything up to date meaning I should buy that again and see how I like it all?

I do have close to 10k crowns I could spend as well from back when I was an eso member before the game went f2p. Didn't realize the game expanded so much so there is a lot to come back to and a bit lost on how I should go about playing it all..

Thanks!

If you have ESO+ you can play any the DLC for free ( Excluding Elswyer, you will have to buy this )

As for where to start, its up to you really

Thanks! So there is a difference between DLC's and then chapters? I see how some DLC's say free with ESO+ but then the chapters do not. I bought the game when it first came out so doubt I have any of the chapters such as Morrowind, SummerSet, and Elswyer. ESO+ won't give me access to those right? ..and vice versa if I buy the digital upgrade of Elswyer will I get all the DLC's included? I see buying the upgrade gives me access to all the chapters but not sure if it is DLC too.

I guess I am trying to figure out where to start on the purchasing level more so than in the game. Do I need both Elswyer and ESO+ to get all the content?

Sorry if that was confusing as I am confused by it all myself lol

The chapters are for purchase when they first come out, then go to ESO+ after a year.

ahhh okay it's all making sense now. I guess I should do ESO+ first then once I am all caught up(whenever that may be) I can purchase Elswyer. Seems like I have a ton of content to come back so ESO+ should keep me plenty busy.

The game seems more or less the same, haven’t really noticed anything different apart from new areas and constant annoying class nerfs for pvp

I mean it's been a good 4 years since I have played so I do hope it feels a bit different but not expecting a new game entirely. Pieces of maps have been coming back to me slowly but surely so I bet once I launch back into it the world all the DLC additions will make more sense. Currently at 81% of the install so making progress slowly but surely

    Hello there,
To begin with we have to establish whether u are just a lore hungry casual or u have a little bit higher demands. If u wanna casually spend ur time on exploring new maps and working some quests this game might work for u nowadays.
But in case where u want to experience balanced MMO, that definitely won't work out for u and u will simply waste ur time. The truth is that u stopped playing at the perfect time to never go back. Dark Brotherhood right after Thieves Guild ruined the game on so many levels. While it was still manageable everything went straight to crap after Morrowind. Nowadays PVE is a joke. Zones are not properly scalled, there is no challenge beyond hardcore vet trials where u actually need coordinated group. Everything is steamrolled by DPS, with no mechanics involved that way. But when u try pug group from finder all u get are incompetent noobs who does less than 10k DPS. There is a huge DPS gap between players. Back in a day people at least knew their place. You liked Imperial City? It was nerfed to hell and people still crying. vMA? Joke in comparison to what it was.
When it comes to PVP it's even worse. We had relatively balanced PVP around Orsinium yet DB changed META then sustain nerf came with Morrowind, not a big deal yet heavy armour is still go to choice. Forget about burst + regen setup from the good old days. There is definitely more pug zergs and the culture... well it used to be worse in cancer times (One Tamriel).
Why am I writing all that? This game is no longer worth anything for competitive players. If u are the one of those I recommend to stay away.

I'm lore hungry and I'm not a "casual". Now what?

Yet u didn't mention u are competitive. Also the way u responded gives me idea that my explaianatory doesn't apply to u. All I can say now is: do whatever tickles ur pickle.
I still don't recommend the game tho...
