So a couple weeks ago I remember seeing a forum post about someone being told by a stranger that they whispered them.. and they quoted their message word for word..
I just got a message from saying ich liebe dich from a complete random. Thought it might be wc, but it was a whisper, I've never seen their name in my life, looked in all 3 of my guilds and can't find them there. They weren't standing near me or anything either. I also hadn’t typed a thing in chat
And it reminded me of that post I read.
Has this happened to anyone else? Imagine not even being able to trust whispering in this game, wth

This surprised me, as I didn't have a relationship at the time that was close enough for the letter to make any sense. Trying to figure who sent it, I looked more carefully at the envelope ... and saw that it had been addressed to "Occupant".

A random player saying "I love you" out of the blue with no followup to a player who doesn't know them from Adam seems pretty random to me.
I tend to go with the "once is coincidence, twice is..." principle when it comes to interactions with random players, myself.1 -

Sure, the act of randomly saying "ich liebe dich" to a random player is random, but the content of the message is not random (as your initial post implies).

EirgarthEldjarns✭✭✭Awhile back, someone asked for help in Stonefalls zone. I answered, in zone, and got a random whisper from someone else saying I was sexy... not that it isn't true, but still random. I shrugged it off and thought it was just in error... about a minute later, the person who asked the original question had a follow-up, in which I responded to in zone again. I then got another whisper, from that second person, which was a bit more vulgar. I put them on ignore and went along my merry way.
I think the second person was just playing a 'game', whispering whoever responded in zone... so there are silly folks out there and you can chalk it up to that I guess.

When I replied* he just said "STAY AWAY!" and then I blocked him because geez, who needs a weirdo like that?
*(asked him what was up, said I never met him, might have the wrong person)

As a general rule, never trust the internet I know it sounds old and cliche but it will serve you well in future.
