Law of Julianos VS Magnus' Gift

Since I decided to sub again I have access to going to the station to craft the Julianos set. My question though, which is better for leveling up as a magicka dps NB?

Well Magnus is a sustain set, its 5 piece will stay the same, so you could craft it at level 3 with full purple and use it all the way to 50, julianos 5 piece will will shrink as you level.

I don't understand how the Magnus set is a sustain set when it is max magicka, magicka recovery, spell damage, and chance to not cost anything while Julianos is crit, max magicka, crit, and dmg. But I guess I should be asking, are you suggesting the Magnus set all the way to 50?

It is a sustain set because 8% of the time you will not be using magic, therefore you save it and be able to use for other casts.

When I was leveling toons, that is what I did. Craft full set one set of training armor and weapons, upgraded them to purple, and power leveled to 50. Julianos will lose its effectiveness as you level. Magnus will not. Been a long while since I did that but I am pretty sure I used Magnus as a five piece for my mag toons though.

The 8% chance to not use magicka isn't what I was interested/curious about in terms of the set. The chance rate is very low so it is virtually nothing in my books. The 8% is lower than 1 out of every 10 casts has a CHANCE to be free. I could understand if I was spamming the crap out of stuff constantly but when you're doing a lot of your damage as light/heavy attacks that the Magnus would make sense. I was asking more in terms of the other set bonuses on that one VS the set bonuses on Julianos since Julianos is all 5 bonuses as guaranteed stat increases.

I just leveled a magblade and kept her in Julianos. Every two levels I gave her a partial upgrade. One staff and chest, next time the other staff, legs, hands. That kept her in full Julianos all the way up without having to overcraft too much. Blue armor all the way up. Blue staves till about L25 then purple the rest of the way up. Then just used the best gear found while leveling for all the rest. Since you'll be running magic jewelry as you find it, you'll get 3 shots of mag recovery so that makes Julianos a better choice than Magnus in my view. Zero challenge with sustain while leveling but the extra offense from Julianos was nice.

This magnus will be most value set if it has 35-50% chance to negate that ability's cost.
