New character do not have any weapon or armor.

Hi, I just came back to the game and decided to make a new warden to help me learn the basics of the game again. However, after spawning in Cold Habor I discovered that my character does not have any gear, no starter armor, no starter weapon at all. My inventory is completely empty. Back in the days I used to be able to select a weapon of my choice off the weapon rack but that rack doesn't appear to be in the game anymore. Other newbies in the zone said that I should spawn in with a set of level 1 weapons in my inventory but I don't see any weapon or gear what so ever.

Whats going on?? I have to go around fighting everything with my fist and I'm getting ass handed to me.

Have you checked all the tabs in your inventory? I seem to remember you got a container in your inventory that when opened, had gear.

Which tab would it be under? I checked all the categories from weapons, armor to jewelry and found nothing.

You get a container once you finish the quest, I believe. Before then you need to scavenge for whatever's lying around. There is less of it now, true, but you should still be able to pick up most armour pieces and a few weapons.

If I'm not mistaken, it's under consumables. But you can find it for sure on the first tab, that has everything, a new character shouldn't have much inventory to scroll

If you're starting in Wailing Prison, you don't get the box until you get out of there.

As soon as Lyris breaks you out from your cage, she will point you to a dead Daedra with a 2 handed sword. You pick up the sword and then the fighting tutorial starts.

Well, duh.

When you -spawn- in coldharbour, you are still a prisoner. Break out first. Lyris can help. Get a weapon handed to you. Do the tutorial fights.

Then leave the (tutorial) prison... and start checking what you can grab. Lots of starter gear lying around where the soul-shriven loiter... you can pick up the stuff you actually want to fight with there (or some of it anyhow, depending on how much time you spend)

Then right through the caverns and leave coldharbour.

Then... grab some resources and craft yourself a set of cruddy starter gear to do the starter isle thing... once you are geared up, you should have no troubles fighting mobs for drops and finding neat stuff in all the hidden chests...

in elsweyr you get a training sword after some minutes, but I found one even earlier, there are many trunks and other lootable furniture. The training quest also leads you to a catacomb or temple with a room that has lots of armor and weapons, but at that stage I already had bow and other basic gear.

I can't say how difficult the level is for completely new players, but for one with 810 champion points it is easy even without armor.

I made a Nord warden 2 days ago. Spawn in Elsweyr with basic clothing and a two handed sword. Tower to capital city, quest to coldharbor, still a weapon and clothing.

Maybe a bug or your class/race template lacks the items.

All the tutorial starts are different.

Base game though you started with prisoners rags (and later changed to) no weapon til Lyris tells you to pick up the 2h

Have not checked, but it is possible, that they took away the prisoners rags...?

Then you go round and kill and loot and there are weapons of all sorts in the tunnel that leads to the Prophet.

The 'gear' you start with in the other intros is same as prisoners rags ie no stats just cover you and you still have to go around and LOOT things...

None start you with full gear; you are expected to pick things up as you go;
all give containers at the end with a few bits and bobs.

You get loot and auto 3rd level if you skip the tutorial. In all tutorials you spawn with nothing.

...and all the tutorials have places where you can grab some basic starter gear without too much trouble. The soul shriven camp at coldharbour, the slavers hideout rooms for morrowind, the corpses in the mind trap for summerset, the khajiit monestary cellar for elsweyr...
Just look what is lying around the landscape! A helmet on that bench, a staff leaning against this wall, a churass lying on the ground, its all there (mostly); or at least enough to get you started...

Naw. My inventory had nothing on it, 0/60 and I was never handed a 2h sword nor can I loot anything from the surrounding bodies after breaking out of the prison. I basically went through the combat tutorial with my fist and had to farm the mobs with my bare hands until I reached lvl 3 and looted a weapon from one of the boxes.
