Elemental Succession-A cool new option for MagDK

With the new change elemental succession I get great uptime on Magdk with mostly all flame damage. It has been fixed from PTS and now has a possible 100% uptime (95%~ in my testing) And gives Magdk a possibly new niche meta set. Its possible for Mag Necro to get good use out of it depending on how its played. Its nice to see old sets becoming more useful from vMA that isnt just a staff or some daggers. I cant wait to see some builds utilize this set. Will you be picking this up for your builds?

It’s not an easy set to farm if you need the Inferno Staff ... hopefully players have weapons on their other 5-piece to complement Elemental Succession.

But otherwise you’re right, @Austinseph1 ... though other testers have been a little more conservative with the uptime. Their testing was 60%-80% before the revision to the tooltip from 5 to 4 seconds. That’s still good for elemental damage though.

Ive been testing On my MagDK and I consistently Get 95-96% uptime which is nice, I'm not sure what uptime you could get on a Magnecro which would be the only other class that could get real use out of the set.

What would you use for a spammable?

Force Pulse/Crushing Shock now has the advantages of being ranged (duh) and of imposing conditions (20% chance per element per hit on the main target, although I haven't a clue on the mechanics of Force Pulse's splash/cleave damage).

Saying only a class or 2 can use this is just silly. This set is probably the best "increase your dps" set for any class/player that uses elemental damage skills or staff attacks. So a mag sorc (non-pet like me) who uses those types of skills would love this set. As a mag sorc I use skills that all use lightning damage, and also use lightning staff heavy attacks, so this set buffs the damage on everything I do. Pretty much all the skills from the Storm Calling and Destruction Staff skill lines would be buffed by this set as well as plenty of skills from other classes. Who should use this set? Probably anyone that uses most or all elemental damage skills. Not a specific class or 2. It should be based on skills that you're using. Just like Netch's Touch buffs lightning damage only and should only be used by people using those skills and same with Spider Cultist with staff skills etc.

Also, don't be afraid of using Elemental Succession, Soul Trap and Entropy on a magDK together. Soul Trap and Entropy does only 15% of my dps, the rest (85%) is flame damage exclusively. That being said, despite Soul Trap and Entropy being magic damage, Elemental Succession is still excellent for me.

ill have to farm flame staves either of this or burning spell weave...eh i dont think i like playing dk that much

You could use it on any class, but you won’t benefit as much and it comes much closer to other meta sets in practical use. Chances are if you are using a dual lightning build with around 90% shock damage on your sorc you aren’t worried about the meta much anyway so use what is cool for you. I wouldn’t bother using it on mine because there are much more fun sets out there at the moment. Auroran and Surge are a ton of fun on a Thunder sorc. If you wana use it for RP reasons then that never stops anybody, but if I were to seriously put my sets into either an aoe or single target setup I would probably choose BSW, Spell Strategist, or mother’s sorrow on a SorcBoi

The optimal class for this set would be the magcro, the arcanist is shock damage, the boneyard is ice, and then you have the wall of elements from your flame stave. However, there is others sets out performing ele succession, I was a little disappointed tbh, looked like it had a lot of potential.
