What I like about the DC story line is that so many of the people you meet reappear in Coldharbor. It really makes Coldharbor feel like an extra zone for the DC faction.

In a strong second place is AD.

EP is not very good at all, but meeting Amalexia was pretty cool.

That only made me hate DC more tbh... a FIFTH Breton zone! Darien's sexist playboy nonsense made him by far my least favorite recurring character as well.

DC is a Classic Gothic Horror Story, werewolves vampires and zombies, oh my! and an idiot King who's kinda a nice guy.

AD is a Fairy Tale Buddy Comedy, the elves and the good princess taking her rightful throne from the wicked queen... with lots of comic relief from the peasants
    >:)

EP is a Historical Epic, with a new nation deciding who they want to be and the schemers who want to end it before it starts

I enjoy them all - a lot but give a small nudge to AD. Also, I enjoy any one of the three alliance storylines more than any of the DLC/Chapter main storylines.

DC has the most interesting quests and storylines, but a lot of the quests weren't fun. Hallin's Stand in Bangkorai is hands-down one of the longest slogs in the game and what made me vote AD.

I really enjoy the storyline quests most in the Dominion. Raz is hilarious and there are so many standout NPCs like Jamila. The storyline isn't quite as good as DC, but the pure entertainment factor is high.

Not a fan of the Pact storyline at all, aside from Shadowfen.

DC is my favorite. Interesting memorable characters from the very begining. Heartbreaking story in Rivenspire. Emerik, whose problems not caused by his own fault (not like other leaders). When you help him it seems meeningful. I like how during the story redguards and bretons become more united despite of provocations. How they respect each other. I don't think Darien is the best "main alliance character", he is a bit boring "honorable knight", except that he is somewhat naive and childish, which is cute. Alikr story is the least interesting, but it compensates by the atmosphere and landscape. I like how side quests connected to main. I like variety of zones and problems you have to solve. Overall, the best.

AD. Raz is absolutely adorable and I was happy to see him in Summerset. Finale of Silvenar and Green lady story was touching. Reapers march quest gives you warm feelings and kajiit believes are interesting to explore. But I don't like everything else. Altmer problems: let's decide, are we nazis or not. Ayrenn can't handle her own people. She says about equality but does nothing to establishe it. kajiit are forced to unite with elves. Race's stories are not connected to each other. And I don't like gloomy bosmers zones.

EP. Definitely the worst. First of all, I don't like Naryu, she seems arrogant. Seeing her for the whole story is painful. Races have so much contradictions, so you constantly ask yourself why and how They become allies in first place. It seems impossilble. Like the Pact was created as 3 party in PvP only and developers couldn't come up with story. Dunmer sometimes forger that argonian are not slaves any more. Dunmer and nords hate each other. Almalexia story is sooo unbelivable. When you know from previous games what traitor lier cheater she is, you can't just see this "blah blah blah this is hall in honor of vivec, this - of sotha sil". She is the worst in tribunal. And the most important - quests in Riften and Windhelm slowly brings you to understanding how weak, unworthy, just disgusting Joruhn is.

Personally I liked the RP story most.

It might be some bias because it's the faction I like most and holds my favourite race (Dunmer) but I also felt it was the only one which seemed to have a decent focus on the war going on. The others I don't remember there being as many events or stories relating to the war.

Although it was five years ago I played them all so could be bad memory as well.

Fun? I don't think that's an appropriate word. I'd vote for an Ebonheart Pact campaign if only it was not based around the defense against just another invasion my Dunmer folk has been retaliating all of its history. Yes, since I'm a Dunmer there, I act as a Dunmer there. It's not a matter of some groundless RP - it's just sticking to what we are in the game.

After completing the Pact campaign I thought the quest line will go further on to the Dominion and Covenant territories, but no! It's all as usual.. I've murdered hundreds if not thousands of those n'wahs just to stop at the borders of the Pact! That was a surprise for me.. Personally I think we should have crossed the borders, pushed it further in to their own territories to wreak havoc and finally turn their lands into another Alik'r Desert. I'd be pleased to participate in the offensive campaign so I could retaliate and slaughter or enslave as many Dominion and Covenant citizens as I could. For every Dunmeri (Nordic and Argonian too) life they've taken using the methods they used. For sacking our towns and for killing Captain Rana and Sergeant Seyne.

So, since there's no such an opportunity, I have only two ways:
    1. To act appropriatly in the Covenant and Dominion PvE campaigns - I never help the locals and I always harm them every way I can. For example that Tava's secret shipyard quest - I let our Telvanni spy to take those blueprints to weaken the Covenant fleet. I'd destroy the entire dock.
    2. Since I'm not able to ravage the Dominion and Covenant home territories and take slaves, I take part in the Alliance War in Cyrodiil and fight for the Ebonheart Pact - no matter win we or loose. I just do everything I can to harm those two rival Alliances, hoping one day their supporters come to senses and will not support those warmonging ungrateful states whom we have liberated after fighting the Second Empire alone on the battlefield and finally destroying it by assassinating that snake s'wit Chorak thanks to our Morag Tong Guild.

Justness is with us, join the Ebonheart Pact. Victory for the Three.

    DC, with AD in second.

DC I felt had the best storylines, which benefited from having the most recurring characters, a lot of which you get to see in Coldharbour for the finale, in comparison to the other alliances.

That's despite Breton culture not being very developed, and base-game Orc culture not being represented much at all, only the Redguards really stood out much in this for base game, and it still wasn't a whole lot compared to some of the other factions races. The zones weren't as exotic as AD or EP either.

So with all that in despite of it I think it says something if the story makes it stand out above AD/EP overall still.

The finale for DC is my favorite too, for having the only antagonist that recognizes you as the Vestige and tries to circumvent your ability to come back to life, knowing that any traditional means of killing you wouldn't work. Wish there were more like that.

I love the EP questlines (and the aesthetics) even though they are the least cohesive of the three factions. That said, EP quests need to be less cohesive given the nature of their faction. No one likes each other; old grudges from past wars and slavery always rise to the surface. But, that's why I like EP....it's about putting our extreme differences aside for a common goal or good.

However, one of my favorite zone quests is Rivenspire. Amazing storyline.

...comes Deshaan, and Shadowfen, and Eastmarch, and you get to see the cracks in the pact. Still follow the general theme, but you see its not all flowers and smiles, you get a hint as to just how much hidden trouble there is within the dunmer ranks, how much resentment still lingers between the slavers and the argonians,
That seemed obvious halfway through Stonefalls.
Ehhh... back there, you could still blame the covenant interloopers and their catspaw for that. But I grant its a hint of how flimsy their alliance still is. And as I said, all the latter questing underlines that its really only the external threats that's holding them together... for now...
    StereoLiz wrote: »

Yeah. Thats the whole friggin point!
They would -never- have become allies if the akaviri had not scared them into working together, and they never would have remained allies if the three banners war had not kicked off and made it seem like a good idea. And they -still- need the vestige to shore up the crumbling trust bwteeen all of them in every corner...

    Almost none, true.
There are some on the "minor one-quest raid" level... tho half of them are "pirates" and not actual regular troopps anyhow. Both AD and DC are entirely concerned with their internal struggles, and whenever I think about sending those alts of mine off to PvP, I wonder "wha would they want to risk their skin in cyrodil again? Oh, yeah... because the royal ars... uhm... person sitting on their throne said so..."
In EP? No need to question... "For Bleackrock! Remember Bal Foyen! Get the darned hatchlingkillers! BLOOD FOR THE PACT!"
...and that is why I like their stories best.
Hey, I just need things to make sense, ICly... ;)

The Reaper's March storyline is the best in the game IMO, head and shoulders above all other zone quests I've done, actually one of the only ones I remember or remotely cared about. Strangely enough, I started it just to get the lion guard and other Rawl Ka stuff for my house, and then once in it realized if all the zone quests were this good, I'd have done every quest in the game.

AD. It has by far the most coherent overall story and love how you get to know the main characters so well. Plus Queen is by far the most compelling faction leader.

While I preferred the DC experience, I will concede that she is more interesting than her counterparts.

Balancing story, location, quests, etc., which faction is the most fun to play through?

AD because it has the best character involved, Razum-dar. And there is a coherent skulduggery story-line starting from Khenarthi Roost all way to Reapers March with many memorable quests and stories that never get boring. (Especially Reapers March).

Contrary to Pact & Covenant, which storylines are forgettable, and only remembering that the Covenantwas about some dreams, and the Pact had to kill a giant at the end. Yet 4 years later still remembering the Dominion storyline and the individual stories per zone.

And since you would be there, do some of the side quests involving the Khajiit, as the the dialogues are the most entertaining ones, and make a Khajiit character to fit in the world. :)

DC often made me wonder why my characters even bother. And they really don't seem to... seen a prophecy on bethnik about the duchess murder, but convinently forget it by the time they get to the quest? What was that for? Deal with stupid nobles and ditzy mages? I dunno, for me it all seemed so... common. As in, settings I have seen so many times already. Medieval fantasy classics with werewolves, cultists, vampires... the usual court intrigue and quarrelling nobles mixed in, and a really annoying high king who seems almost comic relief, especiually at the end when he wants to charge an enemy stronghold with a handful of men, and is promptly reduced to playing damsel in distress... I admit, I really liked the alik'r storyline, that one was neat! The rest were... okay, but had way too few surprises as it was all so... classic cliché fantasy? At least in my eyes.

But hey, that's -my- opinions. Other people will see things differently, and that's the fun of it!

I want to point out that the vestige was the only one who saw the vision of the duchess being murdered. And you were told that none of the visions were set in stone.
