Is pve pet sorc still viable for end game pve?

And have someone a updated version for scalebreaker dlc?
Because I have the vma shock staff with the double drops and want to use it 🙂
Thanks

That writeup says sorcerer class shields are bigger than other shields, so I'm not sure how current it truly is.

If a 94k parse is high enough for you, then yes.

That's actually Alcast's Mystic build. Which is a non-pet build. Since Scalebreaker, he's introduced the scamp to it, but the general gear/skill setup idea remains: double fire staves, more single-target abilities. OP won't benefit from his LIGHTNING staff much with this. He's looking for Alcast's Summoner build to compare. But I haven't seen a parse for that. Doubt it's 94k.

Yea I'm looking for a build that uses vma shock staff.... So maybe i go for his summoner build 🙂

It should serve its purpose just fine, I think. No guarantees, though. ._.

I run the summoner build and I'm really crap at rotations, it gets me 22K on the trial dummy if I set up the pets for healing and about 30K if they are set for damage, using two mother's sorrow staves. However it has huge survivability and on mobs can easily pull 50-90K, so for trials and dungeons, I prefer the good AoE damage and high survivability especially as some of the tanks and healers I go with may not be up to par. Alcast always runs his trials with some of the best healers and tanks in the game and can go full out glass cannon, he's also a far better player than me so can probably mitigate a lot of damage just by his experience and younger reflexes.

I would answer yes, definitely, I did Scalecaller vet yesterday with few issues.

Didn't see the lightning part in op lol. I haven't gotten it levelled up all the way, but the workup on my new heavy attack lightning/overload sorc looks promising, no pets though.

    Define "viable".

Petsorc can put acceptable DPS but not anymore with good survability, as you´re using Tormentor instead of Matriarch.

Non petsorcs (or 1 pet with ST dots/skills) will deal far more damage. Most of the classes will do more damage aswell. To be honest, if id run a vet DLC dungeon, id prefer that none of my DDs were a petsorc. They kill things slow.

This doesn´t mean that petsorcs are carriers though. Just there are a lot of better DPS specs out there. They´re better than stamplars, if that makes you feel better.

I kinda hope not. Did Sunspire last week with guild group & for the first time ever I understood why others dislike pet sorc builds. Had 3 (three) of the flappy winged things - could not see a bloody thing for daedric wings. Most frustrating! Di wish they were smaller.

But seriously, do hope they are as one if my sorcs is a pet one, though haven’t done much end game stuff with her yet.

make two presets with addons like AlphaGear2 or dress room. One for pets, other for non pet.
When trials use non pet preset, when dungeon, especially with randoms, use pet sorc.

Lightning staffs, sadly, are worse than they used to be, because AoE skills have been nerfed, while some single-target DoT were buffed in their place. That said, I'm sure you could put together a reasonable rotation containing most or all of Lightning Flood, Unstable Wall of Elements, Volatile Familiar, Soul-Splitting Trap and Scalding Rune, AoE skills all. Add some combination of Daedric Prey, Destructive Reach, an Entropy morph, a spammable, Crystal Frags, and a shield, plus a couple of ultimates (Rage and Atronach), and you're good to go.

This is my plan. The Matriarch is pretty great for solo or unpredictable dungeons (or even running dungeons with guild members and we end up with 4x DPS; I ended up soloing one of the bosses in Volenfell at 42...in level 32 gear...because the other 3 people died to various things). But pets are liabilities for some mechanics, and DPS should be better without them (certainly without the Matriarch), so I'm just going to have a non-pet build too.
