Anyone else getting random COD mails?

I logged in today and saw I had a COD mail, it was around 800 mudcrab chitings for only 100 gold.

I've never talked to the person who sent it so I had to look at the profile, it was a new account with only 1 throphy(I'm on ps4). And it was chinese.

I returned it to sender, even tho it was a good deal, I suspect farming bots who send out COD mails to random s for a price that's almost free?

Have this happened to you?

I dunno- that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do. It looks like the absolute minimum price for chitin on TTC is 40 gold per, which for 800 would come to 32k gold. I feel like they'd be better off listing for super cheap on a guild trader....

Sounds like your name may have been similar to their usual launderer of goods and you may have been mailed by mistake.

Probably best if you don't accept something like that as you could get flagged as a bot launderer and have some sort of automatic action placed on your account. While you would actually be innocent, it would be a massive hassle trying to prove that to ZOS and recover your account.

I received one a couple weeks ago. It was crafted staff with a COD value over 8k.

You made me laugh. The amount of fate you put into ZOS and their capacity to catch/punish bots and cheaters is simply put: cute. Thank you for the laugh :)

True, they will probably do nothing, but my point was that it's better safe than sorry. People say all the time that ZOS does nothing about bots/cheaters and while we may not see the effects of their efforts, they do punish at least some even if it's a small enough percentage that we still see plenty offenders in game. If a player practices safer gaming, they are at much lower risk of being caught up in a ban wave when/if it hits.

Yes, someone might use [insert cheaty type program name here] and get away with it for days, weeks, months or more but every time they do it, they put themselves at risk for a ban.

nope but if someone sent me 800 mudcrab chittins at that price I would have bought it with out thinking twice.

Prices on PC/NA are 60 - 80 gold min on TTC if your lucky to find them and ranging anywhere from 100 - 500 each on some traders.

But to answer, haven't received any random COD messages, if someone is sending me something via COD, I would have just arranged it, before porting to receive the message and pay for it.

Seems strange that someone would send that many at such a low price, if they were sending it to another character to launder why would they bother sending it as a COD message? And if they were actually trying to see if your someone they can sell too, I don't get the stupidly low price, if it were closer to the expected going rate I would be less suspicious, just don't see how the seller was suppose to make gold out of that deal.
