Why is the below level 50 Cyrodil so empty

UGotBenched

So, I play on Xbox NA. When I first started playing this game around 3-4 years ago below level 50 Cyrodil was very popular. I played almost every night and it always had a high population. Now that area is a ghost town and is almost always empty. I’m just curious if changes in the game led to a reason everyone jumped ship or if it’s likely server population is just lower?

Same on PS4, only Kaal has anyone playing in it. So many people stopped playing, it's a ghost town now. I remember the days of 3 servers pop-locked. Those were fun.

In my experience, below 50 is the place people go to farm new players.
Other than that, most people like to have a somewhat finished build before they go pvp.
Struggling to find a new class to call home. Please send help.

Because there is a bunch of veterans of this campaign rerolling everytime here (playing with golden stuff etc) and ruining this campaign by killing new players.
Theses players do not lead groups, they do not siege, they do not repair, they're only toxic for the campaign because they're killing the people who are doing all theses things.

People leave one by one and if you can't make a group because not enough people, you leave too...

So this campaign died, day after day.

btw, no faction lock also kills it. Because theses veterans have chars in all 3 factions and switch if needed to prevent empruns and scrollruns when they're online.
Emps are a good thing to keep the fire up in the alliance war. It forces the factions to organize themselve to dethrone and counter attacks make it live.

Imo, veterans players staying in non vet isnt a bad thing if they give advices and lead groups, showing the strategies to the new players. But they mostly arent.

On PC EU the no CP campaign is almost as full as the main CP campaign at any given time. On the weekends both are pop locked. On PC NA there are times when the no CP campaign is maybe half full and the CP campaign is full. On PC EU they track each other more closely.

I believe this is purely down to overall server populations, with PC EU having the most, followed by PC NA. I don't play on consoles, but would guess Xbox NA simply doesn't have the population to fill two campaigns. People go where they can find action, even if it's laggy or if they would prefer no CP over CP.

This is pretty accurate. The sub-50 campaign has turned into a place where CP players reroll characters just to destroy new players. And I think some of the population is down with Imperial City being it's own queue as IC was a good place for sub-50s to level.

I imagine a person might get some pleasure in sub-50s being that badass who fights the 1vX, when in reality that person is in gold gear going against players probably still using the Prophet Weapon just trying to level up a skill line to get Purge/Vigor/Warhorn. But I do get a kick when I see low levels in the main campaign running around....part of me laughs and another part cringes at them being in my allegiance.

Well if you're in EP then I am glad I bring you both laughter and cringiness.

I mainly do this as I prefer to play on a populated campaign. If under 50's were busy, I'd play in there.

    Yeah.
Without forgeting the fact that gear is scaled to the level. So if you craft a gear for your lvl 15 and you lvl up to lvl45, you should have very low stats and low damages/regen if you do not craft a new updated gear.

I played here during almost 3 full years (2014/2015/2016, i was one of theses regulars) and I can say today this campaign has nothing to do with what we have known before.
Long time ago, I suggested this place for new players wanting to learn pvp, but today I suggest to avoid it because it's only feeding lamers and you do not learn anything by beeing t-bagged and waiting 15years to find some action...

Yeah. At this point when I make a new char, I just grind them to 50 quick. I only pop into cyrodil quick when I hit 10 to turn down the training and get the alliance points so i can unlock rapid maneuvers. Takes like a couple minutes. I don't bother going back until the character is leveled completely and geared properly.

Been seeing this hipster term "twink" lately. Is this some PC lingo? I haven't come across it on console ESO yet, unless it supersedes ESO altogether and at that point I'll just consider myself old.

Twink is an an old MMORPG term used to describe a low level alt that is decked to the nines in the best gear possible, thanks to a main account that’s flush with gold. I think I first heard the term used in WoW back in 2006 or thereabouts. You probably don’t see it used much on console because MMOs are less popular among the console playerbase.

Wow, I didn’t expect so many responses. It seems that when I played people purposely tried to stay in below lvl 50. I honestly can’t remember if cp was a thing if not but I had a lot of fun those days.

Pretty much. So many pvp players have gone. And what player, even new to the game, wants to play in a dead campaign. That camp used to be so fun and populated a few years back but not anymore. Same goes for the no CP camp and even the 7 day most of the time.. All dead except the 30 day, but that is a laggy mess.
