Grobull mechanics (Darkshade Caverns 2)

When Grobull is shielded:
  • What kinds of damage does he reflect?
  • What kinds of damage, if any, does he simply ignore?
  • What kinds of damage, if any, actually get through and hurt him?

Any other comments on Grobull mechanics would be welcome too.

Reasons I'm confused include:

Mechanics are clear adds till the boss drops, then kill boss.

He is shielded in the air, then he land he can be damaged.
He land after all the adds are killed.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Yes. That's the short summary.

But I was pushing to another level of detail. Is he really immune to single-target DoTs while he's in the air? How about ground-based AoE DoTs? How about single-target channels?

And does he reflect any DoTs, or is it safe to use them even at times when he's shielded?

All single target is shielded and reflected aoe is not. (Lightning staff heavy for instance)

If you have enough tine to worry about hitting him in the air because you are waiting for adds to spawn that means you have the dps to burn him in one drop which renders the in the air argument moot.

If there are adds out and you are trying to attack the boss you are being a bad team mate and the adds will overwhelm your team.

    Adds -> boss drops. Repeat

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

So it is not safe to get single-target DoTs running on him before he drops?

It won't do anything, except put them on you. He reflects ele drain as well, which is kind of funny

    ???
    I don't think so.
I think he lands on a timer, at regular intervals.

So this fight is likely a little tougher in Update 23 (AoE nerf, DoT meta) than it was before. Thanks!

Templar Jesus-beam goes through. I killed the last 6% of him in the air. No idea if the damage was reduced.

That's exactly the example that I thought of when starting this thread, because people had mentioned it before.
