Dont get me wrong. Still like stamplar because I like playing stamplar, but magplar has better resource management tools (repentance even ignoring the after death requirement is still not as good as magicka steal mag characters get) and a bigger pool for those ERs which are really good in todays meta. And stamplar is void of a defensive tool where magplar now has living dark.
This is also in a generalist sense. Theres probably specific scenarios where stam is better in general but Magplar is as good as its ever been right now short of blinding flashes and the hayday of blazing shield
Stamplar has been one of the worst classes in the game for as long as I can remember. Magplar has always been the top healer, and is usually a top tier DD every update (was the top DD for a bunch of updates).
I play as a tankplar and I use @Alcast build https://alcasthq.com/eso-stamina-warden-pvp-build-cyrodiil-group/
I would say, my experience with tank/magplar compare to my stamplar is beyond satisfaction. The game lags, disconnects, bugs out, loading screen in the middle of the fight. So, that is the reason why I main a tankplar and I am very happy.
I can join a small group, heal pugs, Jesus beam those zergers and stay alive.
While, for my stamplar. There is always going to be 1 Vs X senerio's. So, my stamplar as to dodge, block, break free, use ability to remove roots, fight 1 Vs X casters and one-button gap closer mobs. In addition, I have to take care of lags, etc all the above comment...
I am hardly able to land a hit because I am constantly trying to survive from the fight.
The lack of shields, movement, gap closer and execute make this spec underpowered. You are forced to wear full heavy armor, weapon skill execute and gap closer to be competitive. While, other stamtartplar have a small group of pugs to help them survive or use cheat hacks to be good or escape tools like potions.
So, OP! If you're new to stamina in PvP then stamplar are a poor pick for a new stamina player but if you want that warrior theme class or simply want to shovel your blade on their face, then pick Stam DK.
Stam DK, can destroy those ball groups from being together with their mighty wings and use their god shields to reduce damage but since the meta as changed to dot-tart. You can still survive or land a hit to thier putrefying face with your gap closer shield. You need shield for DK to be on-par with other classes.
My templar is an imperial stamplar tank with a bit of dps on the side. He is decent at fights with smaller groups of enemies or single target and after getting him to 50 and having a garbage build and gear i decided to finally do something with him because i love templars (templar was my first class years ago). Now that i have him built with a combo of battlefield acrobat, steadfast hero and the bloodspawn set and put all my points into stamina, got all the abilities i need ect he is finally in a spot that I'm nearly satisfied with. I just need to level two skill lines for two other tank abilities and then he will be a triple shielded monster with 2h sword and sword/shield on the back bar. I always play dps but I'm liking my tamplar tank atm and i can't wait till he has these last two abilities to finish him off.
Saying that, I've seen my brother's magplar and when it comes to damage there's no comparison. I've seen him melt large groups of mobs in seconds and soloing public dungeon bosses with ease and downing them relatively simply with a rotation of only four abilities. I'm not sure what set up he has gear wise (julianos combined with something else) or what four abilities they are but all he does is use them with sometimes throwing in a light/heavy attack and that's it. My rotation consists of multiple abilities. First i enter with a shield, get some early damage in with the silver bolt morph that damages near enemies with small bolts, throw the AoE spears, empower my greatsword for 20% more damage and then use a combo of 2h abilities and biting jabs. Sometimes a heal if my shield goes down and I'm fighting a boss but that rarely happens and when i get the other two tank abilities for triple shields i will be taking self heal off.
So in conclusion he uses less abilities than me with little to no defensive abilities and still melts everything he comes across. It reminds me of my magsorc that uses a combo of wall of elements, liquid lightning and impulse that melts large groups in seconds.
So i will agree with tommy the gun that magsorc and magplar are s+ tier and the rest follow but i think all classes are in a decent spot minus a bug here and there. Those two specifically stand out to me through because of the sheer amount of damage they can dish out with not that much effort. They are really fun.
