Plague Doctor with Green Pact gives me 57k health on mag Sorc Frost staff Tank, huge dmg shield and instant 20k healing from the pet :). Was 60k hp before nerfing %hp on Entropy. I'm always up for extra health. If they could buff any of the a.m. sets, I'm up.

Plague Doctor is a beginner tank set, and can be useful for some niche situation (I'll often pop it on for the end boss of vDSA, since alkosh and ebon are utterly pointless in that fight). Having a slight reduction in hp is such a non-issue. So all these 50k hp tanks now only have 48k...maybe this will prompt some tanks to actually apply some group utility.

Spoiler: if you need more than 40k health for MOST content (there are a few exceptions where you need to just not die) you're doing it wrong.

I hear that. I've tanked on just 40-42k health with no issues. I have Plague and Ebon set up to be interchangable. I did vDSA with Plague and Torugs. I just didn't bave anything to swap Torugs out at the time, but im sure Leeching would thrive on holding the mini bosses. All I need is 3 jewels for Yolna. That set is like a Tanks wet dream lol.

There is nothing more selfish to a group than a tank that is dead all the time.

Precisely. Because I have a typical(ish) selfish tank, I basically don't die, and if I don't die, we never wipe. My groups are always satisfied.

The thing that elitist people don't get is that non-selfish tanks are only good in coordinated groups where you can rely on DPS to kill fast or healer to keep you alive. On pugs, the tank has to be able to survive alone for as long as it takes.

I think that having close to armor cap or armor cap when tanking is also important to make healer life more easy and make that health points count more, I also tank with 40k hp and with some practice I do well. I have seen tanks that have more hp but get hit and their life goes to 1/3 and is a pain to heal them, that does not happen to me with more armor in the same dungeon i get to 1/3 if everything goes wrong.
I have to say that I considered getting plage doctor but I red of the nerf and I think there are sets that give more hp or better benefits that plage doctor but if you are going to tank Plague Doctor is still on of the best sets. It was cool it gave so much hp before nerf but as they said in the patch notes no other sets gave so much.

Anyone who clowns you about your build are just scrubs. They're not worth it.

True. Nobody will ever thank you for alkosh, power assault and yolnakrin in PUGs. Healer probably takes spam of vigor by tank as some kind of personal insult :D when you ask for synergy for alkosh healer will tell you he is healer and not a buff bot.
And on the other side, when you use selfish sets (something like ebon+leeching, though ebon is not selfish, but still it doesn't buff dps) and resurrect group from wipe or finish boss yourself, you will be a hero "last man standing" and everybody will say how amazing to have such a tank.

The thing about selfish sets is.. If you are a tank and a survival sets helps you preform your job of gathering and controlling mobs as well as sustain doing, then that is helping me much more than 1k more hp. In any harder content if the tank dies then so will the rest of the group. I would rather be with a dependable wall than a supportive squishy tank. I can already pull 45k dps self buffed, if you need some selfish sets to preform then you do you and I will be just fine with it. Dps should have at least 18k hp built into the build as is if you expect to play with randoms or anything that isn’t a competitive raid group.

Plague Doctor: Reduced the Max Health bonus of this set to 3000 from 4000, since this set has no additional requirements to justify an increase in stat density.

I have no clue with new Dev .
