Forums needs an official "Known Bugs/Issues" section

As of the time of writing of this post there is currently not an official, cumulative running list of known bugs. Other popular MMO's have a running list of known bugs and sometimes their process of being fixed.

Here's a quick list of other top MMO's with this list included in their forums:

@ZOS_GinaBruno having a list such as this on ESO's forums would help to alleviate the frustration that many players feel regarding the lack of communication from ZOS.

Such a list would only expose ZOS for their inability to fix their own game. It will never happen until there is a change in leadership.

The list wouldn't necessarily expose their inability to fix their game, but rather it would give players something they have been asking for years for: For ZOS to openly admit that a bug exists rather than being absolutely silent.

But I do agree that it would require a degree of change within the current leadership. It would require much more transparency and communication with the community.

You do know there is a whole section of the forum to report bugs. It's in the same list area where you find th PTS forum.

I like your idea it’s just that someone would inevitably track the time it’s been on the list and expose ZOS. There are already bugs that have been around for years. Some are fixed in one release and then broken in the next. It’s insane.

That is just a section for players to report bugs. Other MMO's take it a step further and provide an official running list of bugs which have been reported, verified, and are actively being investigated.

The problem with ZOS is that players have been reporting certain bugs for years but yet ZOS has refused to even acknowledge their existence.

@ZOS_GinaBruno made a statement in another thread regarding how they want to improve communication with the player base.

My question is when is that going to start? Because all we have had is the usual drivel surrounding the undaunted DF mess, which is

"We are aware of the issue and looking into it"

Thats it, nothing more, nada, not a thing.

So my question stands, when are you starting this "we want to improve communication with the player base and will be trying harder action plan?

In that thread she mentioned that it could be anytime in December through early next year...so it's great that they're working on putting together a vision for improving communication over the long term, but what I don't understand is why there hasn't been anything implemented to improve that communication for the short term as well.

Such as right now with this event fiasco. We have received a few "We're investigating this", but that's it. No other explanation. Not even a banner on the forums like they do for Xbox/PS4/Steam service interruptions.

Even Conan Exiles, which is, arguably, one of the most broken games in existence (but still much fun to play!) started to use a public Trello instance to track bugs and features requests, and it's kept in sync by the community managers.

With the amount of bugs that have been introduced with Elsweyr's release, I figured this would be a good time to bring up this idea again. Many players are frustrated and disheartened when bugs that have been around for a while (or new ones that have been recently introduced) go without any sort of acknowledgement from ZOS. Introducing a new section of the forums specifically dedicated to known bugs would at least give players the reassurance of knowing that at least ZOS is aware of the issue.

The current Bug section as it currently exists is for the community to report bugs, but many of them have been reported on for months or even years but have not received an official response from ZOS that they are at least aware of the issue. This then leads to players feeling as though ZOS "doesn't care" or that the reports aren't even being looked at since the bug has been around for so long.

A new Known Bug section (officially run by ZOS) would: 1) Not be difficult to create and maintain, 2) Reassure players that their reports are being read and taken seriously, and 3) Improve the overall communication between ZOS and the community.

Old topic, but with all the bugs that have come up with Elsweyr's release, this would be a good thing to implement. As long as it is kept up to date.

That's funny. I've posted there a few times...I'm sure those reports are buried quite a ways back still without response. Or their being looked at by "top men".

In light of the bug reports in the General Discussion section, I thought this would be a good time to bring this discussion back to the table.

Having a section of the forums dedicated to known issues/bugs which was maintained by the QA team would help to alleviate many of the duplicate bug reports, repeated bumping of months/years old bug threads, and would help to improve the communication with the community. FFXIV and Guild Wars 2 are great examples of this type of system (examples from their forums pages are at the top of this thread).

It was mentioned somewhere previously (I cannot remember if it was on the forums or an ESO Live) that the QA team already has a spreadsheet of the bug reports. So this would just be a matter of making it accessible to the community so that players can know which reports have been seen and the status of those bugs.

we had a known bugs / issues section, but it got so bloated and ungainly it had to be removed to "increase forum performance".

This is a really good idea, and it would definitely make players less frustrated.

If nothing else, there are sometimes Known Issues included in Patch Notes - but not everyone reads the patch notes. So having that information copied to a nice easy "Known Issues" thread would help players and stop them submitting bug reports which aren't useful to anyone.

There used to be a mega post on the bug forum in list format of known bugs including videos, not sure what happened to it, most likely it was impossible to maintain after simple bugs go unfixed for years.

This would be a great idea. It would also serve as a place where you could check for any bugs or issues you are experiencing rather than making yet another post and not knowing if that’s even being seen or what. The search function is okay sometimes but in the case of bugs that have been on going for a long time that would be better.

Another good feature of such a section would be to have something like an “I am also experiencing this” button similar to a like or agree. This might help players feel like they’re experience is registering with ZOS.

The Known Bugs/ Issues should be a closed pinned thread in the bug reports sub-forum. This gives people a place to look if it's already known. As things are resolved they can be edited off the list and new issues can be added. This would also help keep pressure to resolve issues when the are publicly listed as well as keeping the public mind that there has been progress.
