I am going to stop complaining about lag and performance issues until Dec 31.

Since I have decided to go back to pve for a while and avoid anything CP based, I am willing to give them some time to breathe.
They did tell us they are doing something about the performance issues and so we should wait.
Complaining over and over about it on the serves won't make it happen faster.
Humans need time to think and test to create a solution that satisfies the problem.
There are certain times where no amount of money tossed at them can make the solution occur faster.
Yes you can probably temporarily hire more hands, but how likely are they to make a good solution knowing they will be gone soon?
As is the life of most developers...they come...they do the work...they are tossed out/leave for something else...
Now we have devs that have played other games and want to add some flavor into eso but don't know what made eso different...
Some people say "buy better servers" but if the code is bad, better servers won't mean anything...
The code obviously needs to be changed and so combat mechanics will have to be changed...
The biggest problem will be changing the code but still maintaining something similar to the current...or just tossing the current right out the window
So now eso will change...to what? I don't know... but the only thing i see happening for better performance is a huge change in the way the game plays...

People who one sided complain don't really have the slightest clue what happens behind the scenes... that's why transparency would be appreciated.
Like when they removed the 6% weapon damage off of flawless dawnbreaker and changed it to "upon activation gain 300 FLAT weapon damage for 20 seconds"
and by flat i mean it doesn't get tossed into the rest of the WD modifiers like brutality or medium armor increase...

However this change, if your wd is below 4.5k still keeps true the 6% increase...although now you have to smash down dawnbreaker for it to occur..

More of this should be on the way...hopefully all the changes will still keep true...

I love how this actually works for them. "Yeah, game is lagging, we'll fix it next year." And it actually shuts some people up like it's somehow okay. XD

I was understandable and patient with the lag problems during Midyear Mayhem 2017, now 2019 my EU account has been completely stuck for over 5 months since Wrathstone came. The way of patience is definitely not the way something gets fixed, statements and some fix timelines mean absolutely nothing nowadays.

We shouldn't have to wait that long for fixes , especially since every patch introduces even more lag, bugs, and worse conditions than the previous one. Look how much performance has tanked just in the last year along with major server issues especially in EU. In all honesty, being vocal on the forums here doesn't equate to results nor do I think ZOS cares a great deal since most people reading the forums already play and/or have at least bought the game. .People need to very, very vocal in other places that matter. Social media, game reviews, retailer's website, ect, ect.. Anywhere they might advertise or sell the game or people may go to check it out before buying should be flooded with loads of comments about how bad it really is. A sharp decline in sales and bad publicity is the only thing that large corporations will really pay attention to.

They mentioned a few times they did performance fixes or were looking into it. This started in 2014 already after a sudden patch ruined a lot.
I understand that patch was needed but after that all we got was promised they were looking into it. All fixes they tried (and not tested imho) just didn't work.
    - AOE cap, no didn't work
    - removal of deer, no didn't work
    - removal of torchbugs, no didn't work
    - lower player cap, no didn't work
    - didn't work
    - didn't work
    - didn't work

they don't know what they are doing, they are only trying bandaid fixes. They think it might affect. Instead of trying they just push it live and it doesn't work. All we got was a crippled Cyrodill without deer. I want my deer back.

And now they say... next year. And what then? They go try another thing? It's just a crappy (but beautifull) engine which cannot handle it anymore. And they just keep adding skills/sets/updates which is more data to be loaded and calculated in Cyrodill. So it will never be better. Next year we will have more sets, more new stuff and thus more lag.

Only because it now also affects PvE that much, and PC-NA, they start looking to worry. They never cared for PvP. PvE is where the cash is. You can't use housing stuff or pets from Clown store in Cyrodill. PvP'ers don't buy that stuff. No, it's only for PvE people. Now they start to moan about lag in housing, trials and vMA and now ZOS starts to worry.

The minute Elseweyr was live, i was full of joy. A new update which was huge and i could not wait to enter Cyrodill. When i started i first went to the new zone. Performance sucked. And i was not the only one. I went to Cyrodill, only to crash upon entering.

Yeah, let's not complain let's wait another full year and grind tickets and feathers for reskin mounts yaaaay. Well no. I cancelled my sub and will start resubbing if i see performance increase next year. In the meantime i just do some house decoration until im bored and play other games. If there is no improvement next year i don't see a future for me in ESO, no matter the amount of content they pour in. It is not enjoyable to play with sheit performance.

I know not everybody has issues, but a lot of people have. And i am pretty sure it is not on my end as ESO is the ONLY game that has issues and which gets worse each update.

If you don’t play on console, you really don’t know the half of it. The game simply doesn’t work in a lot of circumstances.
But Sony and Microsoft have to be held to account also. They are supposed to verify the software for those systems, I can’t see how a lot of what happens in this game on console can pass those checks.

Anyway, you are all entitled to stop paying and playing. We knew that adding locations, effects, costumes, skills, and every other shiny new thing would further reduce performance, or at least we should have. But let’s be fair, I for one fully support ZOS approach to re-building the data base for this title. The game is worth it. And I don’t think the few here really understand the work that would be involved in such a project. Or what the level of expense would be. As a matter of fact, the road map we received and planning for this project would likely have to have been planned and set-up much longer ago than we think.

We really should be happy they are taking this approach. Credit where credit is due. This road map, above anything else that could release for this game, will add more longevity, for owners of all system specs, than any DLC or expansion ever could. Yet would likely result in less quarterly profits than they would otherwise be able to expect.

I would have agreed with you if this thread was written in 2016. However it isn't. It's written ~4 moths from 2020. It's time for a producer of a product and service to realize that they are in the bed they made themselves and act that way. It's not their customers that have created this situation.

Making MMORPGs is not an easy task, I keep reading and hearing. Well they have taken upon themselves to do it, take good money for it, and it's about time they deliver on the promises of performance improvement and bug purging. In fact I hope we see a performance solution, and not a measurable 2% improvement or the like.

They keep saying players are flooding in, but in fact it's quite apparent that their service isn't scaled nor prepared to handle the number of players they actually had active online in the beginning of the PC release. 200vs200vs200 battles in Cyrodill e.g. You should just have seen the The Wailing Prison at that time. You could barely see the ground from all players running around in there. 100s all the time, i.e. there you could literary see the players flooding in since this was the start point for the game. I mean this game performed better then on a 32-bit client with 4GB of total RAM, an AMD dual Core and an old AMD DX 9 GPU than it performs now with vastly better components and a 64-bit client.

Something has happened along the way, be it lighting patch, too many items added in game, all new skill lines or simply the transfer of calculations from the client to the server to somewhat try to minimize cheating, IDK.

Maybe Zos should start to look into the latest cheat prevention security and re-transfer calculations to the client. This along with a recode/remake of the entire engine I think would solve plenty. Add to that perhaps a new leasing contract with a better(?) server park maybe (or even investing in their own servers now after 5+ years of revenues?), maybe a dedicated Add On API server as suggested by SirAndy e.g. and, if it exists, a better DDoS prevention service?

They have an agressive and irrespectfull commercial strategy. So we haven't to be patient and comprehensive.

If performance issues was their priority, they would postpone the next dlcs. It is not the case.

I completely agree with you, I also moved from PS4 to PC. They could assist people making the change. If it was only crown store items expansions and crowns themselves I would have been happy. They must know the game performance on console is shocking and prob should be ashamed for not helping people enjoy the game where it will actually work.

Anyone who supports this type of behavior obviously doesn't work for a company that produces delivered products. We have a saying where I work - Quality is everything. This product doesn't have the desired quality my company requires to even consider delivering a product and yes; each patch, each iteration of the build is a deliverable. I work for a very demanding customer and if I have a product that isn't ready, it's simply not ready and I will not skimp on quality. Whoever is in charge over in ZOS-land doesn't share that philosophy and its very unfortunate because their decision to move forward with a sub-par quality product reflects on the entire staff and honestly; its sad. I feel for them, I really do but this product has hit critical mass in terms of its bugginess and instability. Something has to happen sooner than later

Jessica posted earlier that if their fix is stable, that they plan to implement it earlier than Monday if they can.

So, it does seem like we are getting some response to our complaints.
