this is one question im very excited with - will be there completely new servers where you can start from scratch, or just crossplatform with PC?

I really hope it will be crossplatform with PC so i can continue playing with my friends and guildies. Not shure how add-ons will work on stadia.

Like the lag when you play from a local client isnt already bad enough :)
Lets just add remote gaming on top of that for even less responsiveness.

Wow, a Stadia server for the approx. 250 players who will play ESO via Stadia would be a sight to see.

Isn't Stadia basically just a way of streaming PC games, rather than a new console or other distinct machine? My understanding is it would run any PC game, and for ESO would use the PC servers.

If it's only going to run games Google chooses to permit you it'll be pretty useless, may as well just stick with a normal PC.

It’s basically a way of letting people rent a remote computer that they couldn’t otherwise drop the money on all at once, or don’t want to bring with them while traveling etc. You can play games that wouldn’t otherwise run on whatever system you’re using at the time. But as others have said, anyone who wants to introduce yet another latency prone bridge into ESO is just asking for it.

If the game is 100 times better with less frame rate drops and lags, i'll gladely switch to stadia and even pay an ESO+.
But I guess ZoS will manage to ruine the experience somehow anyway, so I keep dreaming

Serious question, how popular do they expect the game to be on that platform? Surely an old game with so many documented problems won’t do very well...

Good luck with that. ESO can barely work with the current server load, and somehow they expect that streaming synced graphics & audio will make it work.... :#

Why new servers? You guys know that stadia is just a streaming service right?
Stadia is just the middleman between your pc and the game.
The thing is, over stadia, your pc specs don't matter that much. Since you play on a computer located at Google.
    It is NO SEPERATE PLATFORM.

Just a remote connection. You control another computer. So you can essentially play games on max graphics etc on a slow pc.

This is not even new. Nvidia been doing this for over a year with GeForce Now.
You can actually get free beta access to it. And if you have ESO over steam, you can play it over geforce now. Give it a try. That is what you can expect from stadia aswell.

I think the most likely scenario is that Stadia users will simply connect to the existing PC servers. I doubt Stadia will attract so many new ESO players that setting up a whole new megaserver for them is really worthwhile.

you would have to assume that lag would be same or worse but not better or am i wrong? This would probably not be a very attractive proposition for a game that has already performance issues....?

Or is there any scenario where lag could be reduced through stadia?

Also i would have little interest to level 18 characters again to be honest...?

Maybe they try to distribute player load through this and attract new players that arent pre-exposed to the current lag?

Besides, you need to pay stadia besides any cost from the game - so you'd have to potentially pay stadia + eso plus for worse performance?

I only see this interesting for someone new to eso with a very fast internet connection and no hardware... and honestly how relevant is that for most people? Most people that want a high internet speed are usually the type of people that also have a pc or console no?

I do however think that 10 years in the future this will become standard when high speed internet is the standard everywhere and most people will only have screens at home and phones...

At this point it's all just speculation. But a couple of things we have to consider.

Stadia is not "just a streaming service". They have stated during some interviews that they envision it more as a new console with a different approach to hardware. It's not like other streaming services from before.

For now the only (?) major online game that revealed their approach to Stadia is Destiny 2. And they will have entirely separate Stadia-only servers. Considering Destiny is one of the main flagships for Stadia day one it is not unthinkable that guys in Google do not want their users to just connect to PC servers. Otherwise I'm finding it hard to believe that Bungie has gone with such a terrible idea all on their own.

Your internet, far more likely ZOS' is what won't be up to the task!

ZOS hamsters going slow, google hamsters going slow, and your internet - guess it'll be slower that the current lagging slow thing PC is now!

& almost certainly separate server (or 2) to the current 6!

The thing is, the super rich in California have no need for Stadia because they already have top-end computers. This service is for people with crappy computers who are basically just RDP'ing into another computer to play a game.

Have any of you ever used shareplay? It streams someone else’s game to your PS4 and the host can let you use the controls. This is highly dependent on their connection and yours. This is essentially what stadia will do.

You don’t have to have the game installed locally, it’s all streamed.

Graphically wise, I’m seeing everything the host see’s. It’s quite amazing really. Some connections have been better than others. I would imagine stadia May be able to standardize that a bit. Or suffer.

Sounds like I’m trying to sell the thing in my head. I think it’s gonna be fantastic, but it is a bandwidth hog. You are gonna need a really good connection.

You’ll play AAA games on a $130 console like device.

Mostly I wonder if you’ll play with PC servers, or is this gonna be its own thing. I haven’t seen any solid writing on that.

That's what I thought as well. Until I saw that Destiny 2 players on Stadia will only be able to play with other Stadia users at launch, which sounds like separate servers to me.

Wait, so ESO struggles with server lag at primetime already, and now the suggestion is to put another PC between the player and the server?

    Yea ok...sounds good.....

    Key questions for ZOS,

    1. Will it be cross play with PC?
    2. Will it support add-ons?
    3. Will ZOS support initial transfer from PC/Console to Stadia?

It will be interesting if Stadia will be able to run ESO with max settings in 4K with HDR on, and still have enough FPS and low enough latency... Somehow I doubt that ESO itself is even capable of achieving it on any machine right now.
