Auto-crafting should be defaulted to 1

The thing is, it remembers the previous number and when doing writs, it's easy to mistakenly make XYZ of something instead of 1 of each.

It should be defaulted to 1 for everything.

Agreed. At least if you exit a workstation it should reset, weirdly enough it doesn't.
Also refine should be set to minimum as default too.

I love the new multicraft function but these two things is something that aggravates and I know that annoyance won't lessen with time.

Yes... they all should default to 1 and reset back to 1 when closing the crafting station.

I lost whole stack of purple food ingredients as I didn't see it had defaulted to 'all'. Now have thousands of an item.

It's an oversight from the devs I guess...

    You are right.

    Worse, when:
    1. After I use the (+/-) meter to decrease the number of 10-sets to 1, the Min/Max button changes to "Min".
    2. After I press the key to Refine those 10 units, the setting reverts to "Max" with all of the remaining 10-sets loaded.
    3. I click the Left Mouse Button on the "Max" button, so it reverts to "Min" and 1 set of 10 units remains.
    4. Again, when I press the key to Refine the set, the button reverts to "Max" and all of the remaining sets of 10 are re-loaded.
This adds an unnecessary extra step to refining materials in units of 10 instead of refining all of them "instantly". After each set of 10, I must click the LMB button to re-specify that the Minimum is to be refined instead of all of the sets simultaneously. There is no reason for that to happen, even if the default action is to refine all of the sets "instantly". Regardless, the default should be 1 set of 10 as it was originally.

I disagree..I love how it works. Just because some do not look or comprehend that it tells you it will do the max. Just Click min. BTW I would have been fine had it said min and I needed to click max.

And out of curiosity why must one feel one has to do units of ten?

Because there seems to be something seriously wrong with the temper drop rate when refining raw material in large batches. Refining a large stack all at once has, so far, consistently provided me with less gold tempers than I usually see from repeatedly pressing R for minutes to refine in units of ten. I do not have enough data to compute the probability that this is just a matter of bad luck for me, but many other people in guild chat seemed to have similar complaints over the past week.

I can't say how probable it is that something is actually wrong with multi-refining, or if perhaps that the overall drop rate was nerfed, but I would definitely say that "something looks fishy".

I will avoid refining anything at all for now, be it in smaller or larger chunks. Considering how the epic fail for the roll-out of multi-bidding on the guild traders made the prices of gold tempers spike on the EU serer, I am not going to take any risks.

Really? I track my results and so far its all in the norms of what I had gotten prior to the change and there was a post by someone who refined a huge amount right after it went live & posted his results which kind if confirmed what I was seeing. I'm not saying there could not be something...I may be lucky but I have not seen a decline.

I got totally different results from refining a few large stacks this morning than what I got right after the update. Maybe they changed it, maybe I was just really unlucky last time, or maybe things are still broken and I got lucky, but in any case: my most recent multi-refining attempts have yielded more or less the same amount of tempers as the tedious single clicks I made for half of the stacks for comparison. Unless someone goes to the trouble of making a proper statistical analysis of this (I know I won't - it would be too much like work), I will probably use the new functionality going forward, and say good riddance to the old and tired tedium of refining full stacks in chunks of 10.

Here's the ongoing statistical analysis of small batches. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/490789/multicraft-refining-small-batches-test-10k-mats

So far, the drop rate is within the expected values if ZOS didnt change anything.

Note: my 10 stacks of 1000 mats were done prior to the recent patch, and saw a higher than expected result of rosin. So I don't see evidence for them changing the drop rate in the last patch, or indeed for them changing the drop rate at all.

As the OP, I'm kind of glad of what they did in the last patch. The reminder for more parts to be crafted is a satisfactory solution for me.

So for me at least, this issue is fixed.
