Surprise venom caller one-shot in Maelstrom Arena - PC EU
I got one-shotted 2-3 times today in the Vault of Umbrage on the venom caller green screen, not being anywhere near the poison flower AOEs.
As I'm not a Maelstrom expert, I assumed I had not quite fully understood the mechanics, however after defeating the Behemoth, I walked towards the champion's chest quite satisfied and got one-shotted again, although the fight had ended a few seconds back.
The attached screenshot shows the chest with the two NPCs, clearly proving the fight was indeed over when I got this surprise one-shot.

JadonSky✭✭✭✭✭Are you killing the random NPC that spawns and starts doing a ritual. If you don't kill them before they complete the ritual (which they spawn in the 4 corners of the map and do the ritual near the stone circles on the ground) they explode all the flowers which even if your not near them it one shots you basically.1 -
The mechanic I understand is : venom caller appears (the one you call random NPC JadonSky), screen goes green, all flowers will start exploding. Getting hit by an explosion applies a DoT which must be cleansed. This functionned correctly a few times during the fights.
The odd mechanic, which I hope is a bug, is thus : venom caller appears, screen goes green, instant death.
This is before any of the flowers start exploding.0 -

hmm i'v always killed the venom callers before they complete their ritual. From what I remember if they complete it all the flowers explode but it basically causes a full map aoe so it always hits you if they complete the ritual wither your near the plant or not.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭I have been having issues with visuals not showing up in VMA or showing up in wrong places. Pillars in 6th arena not showing as cleared (i.e,. still webbed, not glowing) but all mechanics act as if they are cleared. You have to run like a maniac until you find a pillar that little spiders run away from (you cleared it and it is glowing, but only server knows that, it is not showing for you). On arena 7, I have had invisible poison flowers, plus had venom caller run to middle of room but I could only damage him by doing AoE on pad he first spawned on.
So I think this is mechanics working fine on server, but there are visual bugs on client side. You were standing on an invisible poison flower. Or the poison flower 10 meters away from you on screen was right under you as far as server was concerned. The 30 ticks of poison damage followed by a giant one shot is how that damage works. You can only heal through it for so long before it does a one-shot. You have to go to cleansing pool even if you are really tanky and can survive DoT. Of course, cleansing pools disappear as soon as boss dies but poison DoT does not disappear from you. So if there are no visual cues and you do not realize you are poisoned until after boss dies, you cannot cleanse it.0 -
