Does critical damage stun an enemy??

Was playing PVP as a nightblade archer. I've noticed that I was somehow able to stun an enemy with an charged bow attack while I remained hidden. Well , I also used venom arrow right afterward but this guy clearly wasn't spelling. So, I have no idea how was I able to stun this enemy...

Stealth attacks from the rear will stun.

Critical hits do not stun a person, however stealth attacks from behind someone's back does stun your opponent.

Does it have to be from the rear? What about stealth from the side??
Even a normal attack would stun an enemy ??

I'm not sure on the exact degree, I want to say I've landed the stun from just behind the direct side. And yes it doesn't have to be a heavy attack. I've done it with an active ability (like puncture from 1h).
