pvp sucks, I guess worse? then it was before, hard to tell.

I had my first death recap that was nothing but degeneration and entropy.

5 different people

they tagged me and that's all she wrote, im sure some other dots were involved, but the sad part was. . .

we had pushed them back, nobody was around me or actively fighting me, friendlies moved past to attack / fight and I moved back because I was taking damage.

there I am, spamming vigor and anything else I can thing of to heal / mitigate this damage, for a few seconds I thought it was some sort of bug as I was just chunking damage rapidly but no fight was taking place.

inevitably I died and there Is my death recap, nothing but 4, 5, 6, ticks of the same dot from multiple players, cast from max range, all they did was look at me and damage started piling up. nothing I could do but sit and tick to death.


I was not even mad, maybe slightly disappointed, but mostly just bewildered and apathetic of the whole thing, I rez'd and left pvp, maybe I will wander back later.

    You're not alone in that sentiment. This basically sums up the last 24 hours:

    Thread Type A: The Surge change is fine, L2P and run Entropy.

    Thread Type B: Why am I constantly being hit by Entropy?!

    Why it's almost as if there's a connection...

    I've played around 5-6hrs in cyro (no cp) since the new patch and I have to agree that dots are perhaps a bit too strong in their current iteration in no cp.

    I've seen lots of people spamming entropy, soul trap, and flame reach from max range. All of these abilities have ~20-30k dot tooltips in no cp if you are built correctly. This is extremely hard to survive, especially for melee characters.

    I'm fine with the dots doing a ton of damage in cp (I think TTK was wayy to high there), but in no cp you can't survive even 2 people dotting you up.

    Like you, there have been multiple times where I have found myself hanging back and spamming my heals to survive merely 3-4 dots.

    Did you change anything in your own build to help mitigate changes to DoTs? You can't expect to get the same results if players are using different forms of damage but you haven't changed your own set up to compensate.

    I'm not criticizing you, I'm curious to know if you went in with your same build and got these results. I'm on Xbox and won't know how the DoTs are until the end of the month, but I'm expecting to have to change a few things around to compensate.

    Your nerf suggestion is dumb. Learn to counter other players instead of having the game rebuilt to your ability level.

    Entropy and Soul Trap undodgeable and way too much damage.

    Medium Armour still sucks and isn't worth taking over Heavy in most cases.

    Snares still running rampant meaning you can't move 90% of the time

    This is considerably the worst PvP meta we've had in quite awhile

    Pvp is dead/ 1 vs x is dead. Spam dot and run with healer.

    Yeah that pretty much sums up why PvP on this game sucks. It's balanced for 1v1 - and offense is cumulative (unlike defense I should add) so players just coordinate their attack which results in x4 offense (or even x8 offense) in your standard battleground where as your defense pretty much stays the same since players cannot combine their resistances and health with one another like they can their offense. It's stupid and I don't know why the developers don't fix it.

    So basically it winds up just a numbers game. Which ever side has more players aiming their bursts at the same target is going to win every time - which is why premade groups usually obliterate randoms.

    You would think as much as the developers stress over "balance" they would actually take steps to balance the combat to where multiple players could not so easily overwhelm single targets and design a way for defenses to become cumulative as well. Because until they do that - coordinated offensive strategies are always going to slaughter with no real counter.

    I was spamming it because I was confused, like was it not working or something, I seriously thought it was lag or actual game problems because I was just standing there with nobody near me just hemorrhaging hit points. I have experienced many a meta and BS over the years in this games PvP, and this was the first time I have ever just been dumfounded and confused with what was going on.

    I agree, however entropy and soul thingy both are instant application max range dots, no telegraph, no audio, no projectile, just point and click. in most combat you can at leas roll or heal or something and go "yup im dead" this was a new feeling entirely.

    glad one class can do something about this, shame about the rest. (that's a bit of hyperbole, NB and Necro are both pretty fine too.)

    it was CP and I always run 20% dot mitigation on top of the flat 10% damage types. its just that I use medium armor and its main defenses are "SUPPOSED" to be: dodge, and Major evasion (as stated by the devs) however as I touched on a little further up, nothing you can do against these skills, they are point and click application, that's it.




    this might be worse then the sload meta.
    I do want to note that I think the majority of this patch is good, and that these things happen when you change a bunch of things at once (like ESO does) rather then one thing at a time more frequently. its why we get such bad shake ups and why patches are so crazy.

    I've only tested my StamDK in BGs so far, and right now it's all max range DoTs, Magplars/Magdens (ie. AoEs and snares), and healers. It's so much fun when you land on a team without a healer! Especially on the new version of Istirus. You might as well lay down and die.

    Alright, I am exaggerating a bit. But the changes to Vigor and Momentum are outright terrible when you think about all the buffed max-range DoTs. 4 seconds of healing are not nearly enough to go on the offensive, nor are they enough for escaping. Resolving Vigor losing its AoE portion means that 9/10 stamina builds will end up with 0 group healing -- whereas magicka builds can easily off-heal (up to at least 100k). Momentum, which lost its buff icon for some reason, is terrible -- if you think that getting Minor Endurance is a buff, consider that you'll be casting this ability every 15-20 seconds (if only for its buffs/effects).

    I've already changed up the way I play, and the results are not 100% terrible anymore. But it certainly feels awful when you, as a Stamina build, have to use a defensive ultimate (like Spellwall) in order to go on the offensive against Magicka builds in BGs. If those changes stick, I think I'll be dedicating more time on my MagDK and StamNecro.

    Edit: I nearly forgot; as a DK, a Magplar with their new something-Dark ability light-attacks you from afar, Volatile Armor returns direct damage, and you get immobilised and run over by their group? What?
