Mag Sorc will do just fine in this new update. Of the skills available, far more were buffed than nerfed. This is not a LTP post, but I’ll say that all this fuss over minor changes like this is way over the top.

The healing and ward nerds were big, but WTF us up with the change to twighlight? A 69% reduction? That's more, a lot more, than half lol! Has it really been THAT OP for all this time? If so how did it take so long to nerf? Can someone point me to the thought process there? Not sure where to find that.marius_buys wrote: »Went into IC, got destroyed, respecced, got destroyed. I simply cant survive with no shield, no heal ZOS was that REALLY neccesary?
Ya ya git gud and adapt I suppose...
Gotta admit, was waiting for the patch to go live for these posts to begins!
I don't mean to whine about how it messes me up, I don't even main sorc, maybe there really is a good reason there, I'm not a professional theory crafter. Just the idea any skill could be needed or buffed by 70% in one patch just seems kinda crazy and I don't get it. Seems like turning a cannon into a tickle noodle or vice versa.
Good. Suffer. DK wing nerf says hello.

my non-pet pvp build is fine no issues there nerfs not really hit it at all, just my PvE trials/dungeon build got wrecked
So a 25% cost increase to hardened ward alongside a 9% loss in strengh alongside the loss of powersurge had no effect at all?
not on my PvP magsorc no
So you didn´t use either of those alongside annulment and morphs and steadfast ward and morphs?
That´s interesting.
nope dont need em, i use crit surge for HoT thats about it.
You actually fought someone that used the new juicy dots by now? Because from my testing critsurge doesn´t even remotely cover that.

You obviously dont play a Sorc. There is a clear nerf. Should we have to adapt? Sure thing, but the nerf is there. The changes are many and not all of them are good; actually only Streak has a "buff", the other good things for a Sorc comes from magicka general dots which will let Sorcs keep doing the same DPS as before (with worse survability).

The cost increase to shields was just pure BS. It now costs the same as Breath of Life, but is far less powerful - e.g. cannot crit, has fewer multipliers, caps, anti-shield set, CPs, ...
ZOS justified this change with their new "burst healing standard", which apparently is a double standard given the huge disparity in performance and potential between shield and burst heal.
The root of this change is probably all the shield / sorc hate on the forums, which is all grounded in a preception problem as sorcs (shielded players) never seem to really take any damage, which is very frustrating - I know. But I can assure you, sorcs have the same issue when fighting other shielded players. But instead of finally changing how shields are displayed ingame and thus resolving the issue, ZOS decided to go with some complete BS ideas such as cast time on shields.
The other issue is / was pets. Twilight healing and dealing decent damage wasn't an issue either - after all it takes up 2 slots and as such would be equivalent to a heal + a DoT ability. The issue is rather that pets also absorb damage and can be used to LOS players. But again, instead of addressing the issue, ZOS decided to go full BS again leaving the issue untouched but nerfing the ability into the ground.

I play Sorc - several actually, pet and standalone, in PVE and PVP. My main is a Sorc. I have played since the beta. I was playing long before Surge and its morphs look like they did last week. I'm playing now. I'll be playing, I expect, after whatever is the next series of changes.
The updates this time around were minor. Some skills are different now, but different doesn't equate to "nerf". On balance, Sorcs are better off now than they were. Most serious commentators are posting new builds with a view that Sorcs will now do more DPS than they did before, in PVE and in PVP.
If you can no longer play because Surge and its morphs were altered, can I suggest Minecraft ? Careful though, because under Microsoft's ownership I hear the mobs have gotten tougher.

People will be happy that not only the overperforming abilities got gutted but instead the whole class got hammered.
That´s until in a week or two they notice it takes considerably longer to do sorc quests in cyro.
And in one or two months they realize that sorcs are all but extinct in pvp.
Better utterly gutted than damned into mediocrity though. Atleast broken gets eventually fixed in 6 to 12 months. Mediocrity lasts forever.
remind me to repost this when it happen to whatever you play
