[Question] Is movement speed capped?

Hey guys,

was just wondering if anyone know whether there is a cap on speed? Since I noticed no difference whatsoever in speed when comparing Jailbreaker+Fiord's Legacy+Radpid Maneuver and Jailbreaker+Coward's Gear on my Orc with Swift Warrior (3/3) and Athletics (2/2) with 5 medium pieces. Seems there isn't even any difference in speed when running Jailbreaker+Fiord's Legacy with and without Radpid Maneuver, which makes me think I must have hit a cap way before Major Expedition kicked in.

    It’s capped at 200%

    According to the UESP builder base speed is 3 m/s. Sprint is like 4.2. And cap is 6

    My old stam sorc did 5.2 without sprinting.

    The cap was not enough for ppl. They cried and got swift nerfed.

    For me it felt like for the first time my 300 ping disadvantage was removed

    It's not like maximum speed build kills anyone in pvp :|

    If anything it's purely to troll people in Craglorn in the race for resource nodes.

    From my understanding, base movement speed is 100% with the cap as 200%. I could be way off with my calculations though and the order it's calculated, but here we go.

    Additive:
    Base Sprint = +40 %
    Orc Sprint = +10 %
    Medium Sprint = +15 %/+18 %/+21 %

    Multiplicative:
    Minor/Major Expedition/Swift Jewelry/Steed Mundus = * 1.1 / * 1.3/ *1.06 / * 1.1.
    Now whether this is after or before sprint calculation is the question, but I'm pretty sure it's after.

    As you can see. With just those stats alone, your 100 % movement speed is 181 % when sprinting as orc in all Medium. As a Stam Sorc, you'd be at 199.1 %.

    Major + Minor + base = 140 %
    Major + Minor + base + sprint = 196 % (This shows how quickly redundant Medium Armor's Sprint bonus is and why it can be very easy to move at max movement speed in heavy)

    Let's try to get the highest base movement speed without Sprinting vs w/ Sprinting.

    Major + Minor + base + steed + 3* Swift = 168 %
    Major + Minor + base + steed + 3* Swift + sprint = 235.2 % (200 %)

    How about a heavy build. Base + sprint + medium (2)+ orc + major + steed = 218.4 % (sprinting) and 140% (non sprinting).

    Moral of the story.. Medium Armor passive should be 2% movement speed instead of 3% sprint speed. It's very easy to cap sprint speed, even in heavy, so the passive is sometimes useless when Medium Armor's whole defense is reliant on speed and you don't want to sprint in combat because it cuts off stam regen anyway..

    ..But I digress.

    ^ I doubt it is multiplicative in that way. Otherwise anybody with major expedition will hit speed cap too easily.

    UESP formulas are:

    RunSpeed = (BaseWalkSpeed)*(1 + Buff.MovementSpeed + Skill.MovementSpeed + Item.MovementSpeed + Set.MovementSpeed + Mundus.MovementSpeed)*(1 + CP.MovementSpeed)

    SprintSpeed = (BaseWalkSpeed)*(1 + 0.40 + Set.SprintSpeed + Buff.MovementSpeed + Item.MovementSpeed + Set.MovementSpeed + Buff.SprintSpeed + Skill.MovementSpeed + Skill.SprintSpeed + Mundus.MovementSpeed)*(1 + CP.MovementSpeed)

    According to this formulas in OP's example he hits 1.9 speed before CP (10 orc+15 fiord +10jail +15medium armor +40sprint). Then with CP it's ~ 1.93 (if enough CP invested to reach that perk). So in case of that setup major expedition is an overkill, or more correctly fiord and jailbreaker are overkill, OP may just sprint as orc in 5 medium and major expedition and hit speed cap.
