Campaign Lock is, lets put it diplomatically and say 'not fun'.

So ZoS should make a ticket that moves all the characters in your account to one faction of your choice.

And give it to everyone for free.

    You can't.

I think OP is slightly wrong as it should be per campaign not account.

So could still be 2 factions over 2 campaigns but for all characters.

They need to do something, A friend of mine suggested a "betrayal" quest line where you can change faction legit and have it make sense - i thought that's a cool idea.

Aliance changing shouldn't be an easy thing as it would defeat the purpose of the Aliance lock, however, I can see it being really annoying to regular cyrodiil players who happened to have two of their favorite PvP characters in separate factions as they are now forced to pick either one or the other.

I generally don't like these sort of requests. I don't think you should be able to change your Aliance, class, banker (lol) easily, or at all, but people made a decision and then a change was issued, and had it been issued before their decision might have been different so they were essentially screwed over. As a one time thing it wouldn't be bad to give players a time frame to change the alliance of all the characters that were created before the update.

If for some reason they decided to implement a way to change Aliances in a moderately fast and easy way then this should not come without disadvantages. First your Aliance rank should be reset, obviously, and second you should only be able to join a campaign after it resets.

You can play with your friends, you can play with your alliance. You can play with your friends in your alliance.

Hell you can play with yourself

They gave you an option, there is an unlocked campaign.

You want to be able to play all factions on the main campaign and thats where it stops.

Convince others that the less laggy and unlocked 7 day is where to go and all problems are solved.

Too many faction flipping farmers following fads failed you here.

I will say this though, if you could do this ONE time I would be ok with it.

A faction swap token would be a great reward for completing Cadwell's Gold.

By then, you've seen what all 3 factions have to offer and you can make an informed choice.

I've never encountered this issue because all of my characters on my account are on one faction and the number of characters I keep on my account is 1. ESO is so much easier with just 1 character - you are effectively immune to faction lock, none of your progression in the game is wasted, and you can have a bunch of Transmute Crystal & Writ mules to supplement your account each month.

Remember all the threads by pvpers who were so totally outraged they couldn't start in pvp until level 10, and they were forced to pve until level 10? There would be torches and pitchforks heading to ZOS if pvpers were forced to go through all three factions before they were allowed to do pvp.

Not forced to wait until they PvP'd, just to change factions.

It's not a bad idea. It wouldn't likely be abused simply because it would more effective to level a different character, get it to level 50, raise the appropriate guild/skill lines, and possibly put a couple of kids through college in less time. Make it character bound.

Have you and your friends considered the non-Faction locked campaign?

I know it's a CP campaign, but that may be what you like playing to begin with.

I do not think they will do any faction moving changes. Personally I think they will cave and remove faction lock again. I think faction lock should have always been in the game but once they introduced Tamerial One and no faction locks it just made no sense to try and go back to faction lock

I would agree with a one time per character faction change. The only other stipulation would be to change a character to a faction that is not it's native faction, you would also need the any race/any alliance pack if you didn't already have it.

I disagreed with faction locks at first but now I think they should keep it for Cyrodiil only.

I've been asking for Alliance change tokens every since my alliance guest best way to put it is sold me out what else could you call boosting against me that's been for 4 years now and I don't think they'll ever replace something for you to take your characters out of one Alliance and place it in another your just better off making a new character

You can have more than one friend and still play on the same faction and same campaign.

Or, you can play against your more than one friend on the non-faction locked campaign.

    Your point is?

Only thing this "Lock" did is that the pvp core switches factions each month, and they farm the other 2. If you aren't there, you are screwed from champion's chests, loads of ap, etc. You also can't play 2/3 of your chars properly on 30day CP, sorry. Go to empty 7 day, and be glad if your faction has a small group that is currently farming the map.

Can anybody explain to me why it would be problematic when people could assign all their characters to the same faction for the duration of a full campaign cycle?

Faction lock should apply to all your characters. They move alliance if you move alliance. The character bound alliance should stop asap. Alliance lock is good but locking out characters is not.

Why do so many people complain about this and then completely ignore the issue of Race?

Unless you Force All the PvP players to purchase Any Race/Any Alliance, the Race of the character will dictate what Alliance they are in. Many Players HAVE purchased Any Race/Any Alliance, so they don't see the issue.

The issue is that if you do NOT purchase it, you Can't run a 'betrayal' questline or switch to Any other Faction because you have not paid for that benefit.

Any solution MUST include both those who Have Any Race/Any Alliance and those who do NOT have it.

I keep saying that too... like I said the last time this came up:
Though I still say, IF alliance change, then Done RIGHT!

And by that I don't mean some token that pops your character to a new alliance, I do indeed mean a whole guild-DLC sized questline with an cloak and dagger (Or since this is ESO, "hood and dagger", perhaps?) spycraft flavor and a "faction loyalty called in question" plot, where you get to make a big choice in the middle - stay loyal to your alliance and prove yourself, or turn your back on them and defect to greener pastures elsewhere...

With the second half (or two thirds, or whatever) of the questline being different depending on your choice - either uncovering the one who actually framed you, mobilize your old and trusted allies to gather support and track down the true conspiracy while dodging the agents sent to bring you in; or preparing your escape, dodging the agents sent to arrest you, courting your desired new friends while grabbing some juicy secrets on the way out to sweeten the deal, etc.

Such a story could have a neutral city as "spycraft" focal point (like vienna during the cold war, where spies and agents often went to spy hard between the two sides - for ESO it could be some place between the alliances, a former imperial town declared "free city" after the fall of the empire in northern nibenay, eastern colovia or western skyrim, perhaps, or even an post-anchorite-war isle of stirk...), but otherwise take you all over the old faction regions, possibly revisiting a few one-time-only maps with new mobs... and perhaps even meeting a few familiar faces (come on, wouldn't you love to slam a porticullis shut into Razum-dars face as you hop on a boat bound to Morrowind with thre adorable Naryu? ;) )

Such a questline could even have special titles depending on what you choose... "[original faction] Loyalist" or "[original faction] Defector"... obviously it would be a one-time only event, thus making serial defectors that change alliance depending on which one is currently top in cyrodil that some people always fear when this topic comes up an impossibility.

And it also might have drawbacks for PvP, like... reduced AP gain for several months, since noone fully trusts a traitor... or maybe having to re-earn all the AP up to your current rank before you start progressing again, representing your efforts to convince your new allies of your trustworthyness... and definitely increased AP rewards if a member of your original faction takes you down, because...
    Star_wars_traitor_gif_by_mrarcadium-daafqoh.gif
    :)
(there could even be a daily "hunt traitor" mission, and defectors from your PvP-characters alliance in cyrodil getting an visual clue while that mission is active...)

Also, this could be a option to add new factions to PvP.
And yes, those could be "crown store unlocks"...
Like... have options to not just defect to one of the other two alliances, but also "go rogue" and join a new "Outlaw" faction (...black color and jolly roger flag, perhaps? Would be hostile to -every- other faction in cyrodil, and spawn at some new but unsecured base, thus very susceptible to enemy raids - trials of being an outlaw in the face of organized armies); or an "Imperial Remnant" faction (purple imperial diamond flag, spawning in some ill-secured legion base somewhere, possibly at the nibenay border, and also fighting everyone else, but turning all the "imperial" NPCs in cyrodil non-hostile?), or a "neutral" faction that is "yellow" to everyone (green flag and incapable of capturing locations, spawning at various random merchant camps and such...)
Might be too complicated, but would still be interesting!
