I play this game for one simple reason. Fun. Just fun, that's it. All I want, all I imagine most reasonable people want. I enjoy PVE, I enjoy roleplaying to some extent, I sincerely enjoy building and outfitting. PVP, though? PVP is my jam. It's the be all, end all of gameplay, for me, and I just don't feel like I'm getting value out of this game I've invested in if I can't PVP.

Most of us should know by now that cheat engine is still a thing, there are videos all over showing players fly-hacking within the last twelve months, I believe the last one I saw was January of this year, and those are just the obvious cheaters. Do we know how subtle it gets? How little, tiny unfair advantages snowball into a cheapened experience that not only wastes the developers' time, but the players' as well? Do you consider your time well-spent when anybody else can load up a little program, tip tap away, and suddenly/directly stand across from you doing everything you've worked for, better?

I don't. How about when they find an obvious flaw in the game that anybody in their right mind would report and walk away from, rather than take advantage of because they apparently don't understand the point of sportsmanship?

This, and the perpetual server lag that plagues this game, this is my personal issue with this game, and the team behind it. ZOS is all bark, no bite, and they've proven it time and again, and will so long as we keep paying their monthly fee. I can only speak for my wallet, I'm not going to sit here and tell you why you shouldn't spend your hard earned money on whatever you want.

But seriously?

That would be red team standing inside their spawn with the chaosball, trading it back and forth. Where nobody else can reach.

It's actually a bug I think, I had a similar encounter myself. When you're really low hp (like reall really low), you both grab the ball and die in the same time.

That's how he got the ball after he respawned.

I picked up the ball once right before I died.
Respawned with the ball in my area.

I immediately jumped down. Didn't feel right to cheese a victory. And even though my team won, they absolutely were not happy about my decision to play fair.

Says more about the players who take advantage of such bugs, and not the bugs themselves.

This post is a great example of why so many people don’t believe cheat engine exists... every time someone posts “proof,” the experienced players who actually know the game mechanics know that it isn’t... and it undermines the posts of those who legitimately see cheating. (Which I’ve never seen in over 280 days /played in the last two years)

Bug that gives advantage = exploit
Different from a cheat, which dips more into the hack territory, depending on who you ask. But that's the definition of an exploit is according to most.

Cheat engine is absolutely still part of the game, and it is perfectly valid to include in this thread which also mentions exploits. Cheating is cheating, whether you're exploiting or hacking.

Yes it exists but they didnt get up top with the ball from cheat engine. It's fine if you wanna stick to your guns, but I think most are going to assume you think they got up top because of cheat engine and that's not true.

This bug is not something you can intentionally activate. It requires significant server lag and has more to do with your opponents actions than the actions of the player who benefits from it.

But yeah let’s just call everyone who does while picking up the ball during a server hiccup an exploiter lol.

You either just look the other way since ZOS does.

    OR

You adapt to the saying "If you can't beat them, join them!" "Eye for a eye and a tooth for a tooth."

Doing the same thing is most certainly the wrong way to play. Zos chooses to do something about it and you get banned to. Let the fools who choose to cheat get their false victories and banns. If they could PvP they would not be hiding up there.

What do you get out of this? Nothing. Not a single thing.

That’s a pretty common bug, not a hack or a cheat or an exploit.

Nope, its an exploit. As its a bug folks as using to gain score from.
If they were legit they would drop down. They are exploiting a bug.

But ZOS do nowt about cheats, on console anyway. They all still float about in game doing what they want.

    Exploits are intentional.

This bug is not something you can intentionally activate. It requires significant server lag and has more to do with your opponents actions than the actions of the player who benefits from it.

But yeah let’s just call everyone who does while picking up the ball during a server hiccup an exploiter lol.

So getting the ball in your respawn point is an accident and unintentional...

But are you really gonna argue that staying in your respawn point with the ball until you win the match is an "accident?" "Unintentional"?

You may not be able to intentionally activate the bug, but you can for darned sure intentionally not abuse it. Or you can intentionally abuse the st*t out of it, as those players did.

It doesnt require a degree in rocket science to tell the difference between someone it happens to accidentally and someone who decides to exploit it, you know?

I've always maintained that there are several types of PvPers, but one of the biggest divides is the one between those who equate winning with fun and those who don't.

Some people simply can not enjoy themselves unless they win, no matter what they have to do to get there.

Why play if you are not going to win is the mindset.

It's taken a long time to not hate those people, I try to understand where they are coming from, but i'm just not that competitive I guess.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

    I can see that.

Then there's a futher divide even among the ones who play to win:

Those who are willing to accept any win, even a win gained by exploiting a known bug & those who actually want to earn their wins.

I like to win, but I want my wins to be legit and according to the rules, or somehow it doesn't really feel like I won anything, you know?

Actually there is or atleast was few ways to place player with chaosball inside spawn area on demand like for example frozen retreat synergy meme.

I find it very interesting the posters who continually defend and explain away every exploit in this game as "its normal bro". Suspect behavior is suspect, there is no explaining that away.

You gapclose into a keep you die you don't hide and siege it from inside.

You chaosball spawn you drop down.

You find exploitative gear sets you report them and don't use them and share with only your friends the way it works.

You accidentally get permanent major evasion from a gear swap addon, you don't replicate that.

You accidentally get multiple mundus from twice born bug, you drop the gear and reset.

Too many people in this game are just ok with blatant exploitative behavior on the rationalization that nothing is done against them and it is "in the game".

This boils down the the difference I was talking about above, if ALL you care about is winning, then these things of course are going to be searched for, yearned for. IF you see someone take 0 damage from 5-6 players, you don't say well thats broken, you whisper them and say "teach me senpei I need to know the secrets".

Me I don't want to win with an advantage, I want to win because I made better choices in set up or I have better reaction time or use of line of sight or whatever the case may be.

This is why the tryhards usually murk me and then teabag because they feel some kind of way about winning I guess.

It's actually a bug I think, I had a similar encounter myself. When you're really low hp (like reall really low), you both grab the ball and die in the same time.

That's how he got the ball after he respawned.

When you abuse it the bug becomes exploit.

Let’s be honest though. This chaosball bug Happens one out of maybe 50 matches. It’s just random.

My question for you is how do you know the people beating you are using those other bugs? I read your post and all I see is a very politely worded version of “everyone who beats me must be a cheater”

    Also...

Is apparently ok with players cheesing wins by "server hiccups". Doesn't call out a known exploit by players staying on the platform instead of attempting to play fair.

And this is why PvP can't and should never be taken seriously in ESO.

ESO PvP is my main focus in the game as well. Such a great competition.

But the cheating has soured my taste for ALL online games quite a bit.
Many game titles have almost been destroyed by it.
But many have been able to fix it or minimize it too.

I'm willing to bet that there are many ESO players who cheat within certain limits to avoid detection.
I also regularly come across some who push that boundary so far that it makes it easy to see.

Characters who display the performance aspects of ALL the extreme builds.
Huge mitigation, huge damage, huge sustain, huge health, huge heals, always move super fast, can never be CC'd, ultimate on demand, etc etc.

I've personally seen 2 characters flying around like Superman in Cyrodiil in the past three months!

I've read that the psychology of cheaters is infantile. Like a spoiled child or an addict, they want the rush of winning all the time. There are those whose sadistic pleasure is griefing and trolling, because ruining others' experience gives them a thrill. Contemptible.

As the addition of bad ping, lag and performance issues increase, the population in all campaigns is dwindling noticeably. Even the graphics in castles flickers like a TV that has been dropped too many times. What a shambles.

    somewhat related note:..
CE is all over the internet show not just eso, I suspect as I have no proof.
Anyway is destroying ruining a lot of games causing loss of populations out of sheer frustration. It's sad but that's all it takes for some to feel like a winner. Obviously the creators of CE and the like do.
