New Materials?

I was trying to create new armour this morning and I was using Iron; it wouldn't let me create anything higher than lvl 14. How do I make higher level armour? I know this is a crafting 101 question so any help is appreciated. I suspect I need new materials to work with other than Iron; if so how do I find or research them?

You need to use metal ingots from high iron ore veins, not found in 2 are after the first island(starter island).

You can see where you decide how many iron ingots you need for crafting higher level armour, you can scroll to the side there and choose other material.
Same as with the racial look of the gear.
Moons and sands shall be your guide and path.

You need to either go to higher level zones to mine or find items made of them and deconstruct them

or you could join a guild and see if someone is dumping high iron there

Worth noting is that you also need to invest a skill point in Metalworking to be able to work with materials of the next tier.

Thanks guys; this feedback is great. Yes I had to research the new material; in this case after Iron, Steel using a skillpoint in the blacksmithing skill line specific to materials (there are several traits under the blacksmithing skill line). I also had to go to a new area; in this case I had to leave Glenumbra and move on.
