[REQUEST:] Enable keyword searching of traders’ wares

When looking at the wares of guild traders, you can browse categories or search for a specific item, but, unless I’m missing something, I cannot for instance do a “high elf” search to see all furnishings that contain “high elf” in the title. I would really appreciate having this feature as there are several recipes and furnishings I would like to buy and right now my options are to either scroll through whole categories or do multiple searches each for specific items. This functionality would be greatly appreciated! :)

I would also appreciate if, while browsing recipes and designs, etc., it would show whether or not I already know them on that particular character, just like there are little icons to show if and how many you have in your inventory or bank.

I suppose there are probably add-one for both, but I am not a fan of using these and I think these features would be helpful for console players too.

Thank you!

    Agree.

It's definitely hit or miss which terms you can use to bulk search. Sometimes a keyword works, other times you need to be absurdly specific, especially with some sets. Would love some more consistency for the searches.

If you are playing on PC, the addon Awesome Guild Store will do all this, and more.

Sadly, it *should* be in-game for console.

You can’t type in key words? What? I type in ‘candles’ and it comes up with everything for my candle needs...
Ohhhh, wait, it gives suggestions which search a specific item, you can click off that and just keep ‘high elf’ to search all things snooty elf.

So are you able to see all candle recipes, furnishings, etc. available from a trader with one search?

I assure you, that is the first thing I checked when my searches turned up nothing. :unamused:

Good to know that it works even some of the time though. I will try some additional searches, by style and by item type and see what works.

Hmm, that sounds good but when I google it I get a whole bunch of recent topics about it not working. But I’m guessing that’s common after a patch? Idk, I’m wary of add-ons and these things should really be basic features of the game. I will consider it, and thank you for the recommendation.

Make sure that when you search is doesn’t have speech marks “ those make it specifically only search for what you typed in.

    So if I type:
    Candles
I’ll get all of the recipes and furnishings that include the word ‘candles’. - that the merchant has in stock.

    But if I type:
    “Candles”
It won’t give anything, because nothing has only the word “candles”.

Yes, after major patches some addons will take a while to catch up to changes from PTS. ZOS recently fixed the API so we can preview correctly using AGS.

If you want to install and have questions, feel free to PM me. (not the dev, just like helping)

I also feel that when looking for a specific item I should just be able to go to a trader type it in and know what trader has that item. this game has a a Lot of traders and I don't have time to go around to every one tryna find out has the thing that I need.

Ohhhhh *facepalm* What did I do wrong when last I tried? Did I perhaps just hit “Enter” instead of “R” or search? :hushed: I am rather embarrassed, but then if I hadn’t asked, I might have continued wasting time and being frustrated!

Well, now I am searching for bookcases with ease — thank you all for helping me figure that out!

EDIT: Also noticed that the game does indicate designs / recipes that you already know — just in the upper left (whereas for motifs it is at the bottom and the indicator is in the upper right). I guess it’s just taken a bit to get used to the interface.

So glad to have had both my requests granted!:joy:
