[PC|EU] Weird bug while using a controller: Group window seems to be "open" while playing

I like to play eso with a controller, but this bug makes me go nuts...
While using a controller whenever i leave a group (any group, so even if a battlegrounds match is finished and the group is disbanded) somehow the group window seems to open or rather seems to be open, and you can't really do anything with it, except use /reloadui and hope for the best.

This happened after a battlegrounds match, and as you can see in the video this bug can and does make the game unplayable since sometimes it registers the left thumbstick's movement as if it was inside the group window and if that happens you quite literally cannot move. Or sometimes the group window covers the whole screen while playing making you basically blind to the combat...

This has been happening for ages. I’ve reported it numerous times myself. In addition to blocking the screen unexpectedly with large info panels, it also makes it possible to unintentionally change your group role that way too, because the game thinks you’re in a menu panel that you can’t see.

There was some speculation that this could be related to the housing problem where you could unintentionally change permissions because the game thought you were still in the menu even though the left-side panel wasn’t showing. As with group roles, the housing permissions bit is controlled by the left stick, which as you mentioned is stuck in this menu we can’t see. The workaround was the same as this group menu bug - be sure to leave your housing/group menu on a screen where no panels pop up and the left stick can’t mess anything up. (For group menu, for example, I leave mine on “invite” or a libsocket option that I think doesn’t exist on consoles.) If it is indeed the same problem, then there might be a fix coming in Scalebreaker, as they’ve said they took care of the housing permissions bug in gamepad mode.

I’ll try to test it on the PTS.

Yes, i've been playing since 2016 and I had this problem ever since, but now was the time that i got fed up with it, thats why i posted. But it's good to hear that they might be fixing it next patch. Also thanks for the tip, I haven't really found a solution myself, so im definitely going to do that from now on

I just reload UI every time it happens. It really likes to do it after porting into vcr.

So this has happened for years on xbox. There is a workaround without having to reloadui or restart your game, though!

When the bug occurs, simply open up your group menu, highlight the group role selector, un-highlight (simply scroll down back to a different part of the menu) and exit the menu.
