Can Quest with decision paths be buggy when playing in a group?

Hello,
I think I read something about it, but cannot find it anymore: Is it really possible, if Person A and B are playing together while questing, and then it comes to a decision, and A and B chose different ways, that this quest is bugged afterwards for one of the players? Or was this an issue in the past and won't happen now?
Does anyone have experience here? Because this wouldn't be nice if I am helping my husband with something I have not done before, because I am in another zone and just jumped in to help, and then I get a quest (wrongly finished) I do not want
