Did you buy the Psijic Villa?

Hey, nobody's asking you to justify anything, buddy. Whatever floats your boat. ;)
And how nice of you to bring down everyone talking here to "trolls".

For me any in game house for a 100$ is a pass since it's a ridiculous price for something like that and especially something that was free at some point.

I did specify "negative forum trolls". If you aren't a "negative forum troll", then I wasn't talking about you, buddy. :)

I spent around $100 on dinner last night, which has surely turned into actual poo by now.

The house being given away for free in the past would only be relevant if there was a chance it would be given away for free again. Since that's not the case, it can really only be compared to other notable homes that are for sale (or might be available for sale in the future).

I mean, I wouldn't refuse to buy a car I like just because some other people were able to get the same car for free, during an event I did not participate in. If I like it, I'd buy it. I wouldn't care how others got theirs.

Hey, if you earn that much then all the power to you. For me 100$ is is much more so I may have different perspective. And buying a virtual house for 100$ is a silly thing in general for me as this same 100$ can buy me many better things, like new game with a season pass, yearly subscription to bundle monthly, quite a few games from sales, 5-10 dlcs for ESO, 2,5 collector's edition chapters for ESO or, if we're talking in terms of food, 10 quite good restaurant dinners, 20 decent ones if I'm not going to some extravagant place or even 40 kebabs. So it's not a money lightly spent.

Having said that I'm not demanding for the house to be made free just because I missed it. I'm asking others what they did and what their opinion on this is to check if I'm being completely unreasonable here. And to vent some frustration with missing free stuff and house pricing in general.

The moment the house turned up in the cash shop I knew it won't return as an event reward, because those who spent 100$+ would feel cheated out of their money. The only hope I can have left of getting it now is either it being available for gold someday, as for example Hakkvild's High Hall or me making that much money that 100$ is a light spend for me. We'll see which one comes sooner. ;)

I am constantly astonished at the insane prices charged for the notable homes, and I say that as a whale who can easily afford any of them. However, even when you have the means it does not mean you can be taken for a ride. It's not as if a lot of work has even been done for this, it's basically a modified copy of an existing asset, the Alinor palace.

Sorry, no, until the prices of these things drop considerably I will not be partaking, besides the free lunar palace is better.

Honestly, I think they're pricing these houses for a "richest part of the world" kind of price.

You would never be able to get a quite good restaurant meal, here, for £8; let alone a decent one for £4.

You're talking at least 10x that, here.

Actually, I think they're pricing them above the market price for even richer countries, if anything...

I feel like the ceiling is more around the £40 mark, personally and I live in the UK.

To charge more than that, I think it would typically have to be something pretty special and purpose-designed to be a home.

Not just a copy/paste of an existing in-game asset.

Got it last year, but I'm only now getting around decorating it. This thing looks amazing, but it's really hard to get a decent idea to decorate it properly, considering the huge spaces.

    people forget 2 issues:
many have tons of crowns from the eso+ membership.

I bought several items like weapon skins during the almnost 1 year since I play eso, and now rarely find other nice items. So my amount of crowns slowly increases.

And you have the special price opportunities now and then, where you can buy crowns at a much better rate.
I used that option to buy the tropical island, the only house I bought with real money. With the reduced price for island and crowns, it was 30-40 Euro.

I still prefer though to buy using ingame gold, did that with Hundings palatial hall for 1.3 mio gold.

£20 for a house, maybe. £30 as an absolute limit. This current price is completely daft.

FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

Hey, I do the same but I'm not subscribed for that long. I "only" have 11000 Crowns atm and even if I had 4k more I wouldn't be keen on pissing them all away on one house, regardless if it was free in the past or not. ;)

In contrast, Princely Dawnlight Palace is almost impossible to decorate to a satifactory level, if you want all areas to be well lit (with lights that fit/complement the style) and decorated.

I've had this account since beta but switched to PS4 for a couple years where I participated in the event and received it. Sadly I don't have it for my PC account but I'm alright with that.

I got it last year from the community event. As pretty as it is, I still don't use it. Decorating houses just isn't my thing. I normally just pick a house from my collection and display stuff I gathered.

But I'd have to agree with ya. Prices for houses are ridiculous. Especially when you can't even craft things without paying for the tables. If I'm spending 100$ for a house it better come with furniture and crafting tables built in.

That would have really pissed me off.

As it is I got it for free, along with most of us, so I really don't give a flying whatever that it's now in the Crwon Store. Everyone had the opportuntiy to acquire it last year, and if they didn't, more fool them. You can't blame ZO$ for trying to cash in on those that didn't bother or just missed it.

Thing is, Everyone Didn't have the opportunity last year. Some players had never even heard of ESO when the event was happening. The idea of ' Skru yu if you are New ' isn't a great business philosophy.

It's not like the Ice Skin, where if you missed the event you can never get it. The event comes around every year and you have the opportunity to earn it.

Never cared for the One Shot and it's Over stuff.

    IMHO

Kinda blows my mind that they decided this year to SELL it, and for such a disgusting price.

ZOS actually garnered some goodwill with the event last year and making it free, (of course an event like that was never going to fail, ZOS wouldn't have let it fail, it would have been terrible PR for an event based on player participation to not actually have enough players to complete it... lol...) But of course there was an ulterior motive in that you needed to own the Summerset chapter, so the event drove additional sales. Don't forget they shelled out for a Superbowl ad spot the year before and those are expensive!

I guess Elseweyr sold better than Summerset at launch so they didn't need an event to push numbers up this time and figured hey let's go back to being greedy...

I would gift my villa to someone in a heartbeat if I could, it's the biggest house in the game but still we're limited to the same 700 item cap. I can't decorate so I haven't tried. It's empty and unused. Shame.

What are you talking about? What entitlement? People just throw around this word every time someone even asks about anything in this forum. Nobody's raging here, nobody's demanding anything. I'm just expressing disappointment with how things were handled. I'll live without Psijiic Villa just fine. But those forums are made for voicing opinions and if they are acting civil you shouldn't shut down people like that just because they have a different one than yours.

And what's left if we're not allowed to criticise anything? We should all just sheepishly accept every poor decision ZOS makes because otherwise we'll sound entitled?
