Main Tank and Off Tank pve set combinations

A quick question regarding 5.1 - for all of the experienced Vet trial HM tanks:
Before i start re-farming some sets. i want to know what are the current combinations most commonly used for main tank and off tank, meaning, i want to know which sets to farm as body pieces or as jewelry and weapon pieces.
For example: should i combine Ebon (as body) + Alkosh or Yolnakhriin as weapons/jewelry set? Or shouls i equip Alkosh and Yolnakhriin together? Also which set should i use to replace Ebon now that Plaugh doctor is dead? What monster sets are most commonly used by each role?
Did Alkosh lose its potency with the lack of synergies this coming patch? And what sets do you use as a solo tank for dungeons and some trials?

✭✭✭✭✭I've been doing inventory management the last few days getting ready for next patch and my plan is to keep a few base sets on all my tanks (6 tanks, one of each class) - Ebon, Yolnakhriin, Alkosh and Dragon's Defilement (the new heavy set from one of the new dungeons coming out that gives minor debuffs consistently) and then keep one set of more specific use tank sets in my bank to pull out and mix with any of my tanks when needed.
Personally looking to run Yoln/Drag.Defile for a lot of stuff and then have Ebon and Alkosh handy for a group that either needs one of the tanks in ebon or is going to make most of Alkosh. But the way syngergies are going to look (and even if my groups we aren't best with them as is) I think Drag.Defile will give us more consistent time than Alkosh, but the hope would be for things like trials to have the two tanks complimenting each other with all those sets when possible. And in dungeons, tbh, I hardly ever get consistent synergies to use alkosh to its full potential, so again Drag.Defile looks promising to me to replace that.-- @xaraan --

ATreeGnome✭✭✭✭For maximizing group DPS, Yolnakriin + Alkosh is best for main tank as long as you don't need more survivability. Off tank should typically be in Ebon + Torug's/Hircine's/Wormcult depending on group comp, what the healers are wearing, and survival needs. For monster sets, I typically run Bloodspawn when I can for more Warhorns. Lord Warden if the group will be taking lots of damage and I'm in range.
Selfish gear is a bit more situational but I think I will still favor plague doctor. Even with the nerf I still think the reliability it offers puts it ahead of other 5 piece sets.5

✭I mostly go with plague doctor and ebon or leeching plate on my nord dk for me that 2k extra pen dosent matter as I'm not in those top raiding guilds besides it gives me enough sustain and tankiness to do any vet contents regardless of difficulties.2000 CP • 18 Maxed Characters • 6 Altmers • 7 Redguards • Necromancer Orc • Warden Dunmer • DK Nord • DK Imperial • Templar Breton1 -
Oathunbound✭✭✭I've worn ebon and torugs for so long and never had a problem with them in any vet content but I've recently swap tourgs for battalion defender and swap lord warden for nightflame in fights where I have to move more and it been working quite well since battalion will proc when I have a shield active not just blocking alone, plus free offheals for the rest of the group0 -

Im liking it so far. I needed the extra bit of resist. Went with Heavy Earthgore too and it feels solid on my Sorc. My Necro gets fortified, ebon and stonekeeper.0 -
es4eva✭✭✭I've only just started building my monster set collection. Lord Warden was a priority and managed to get it in heavy on first try. But I've also looked at Stonekeeper...have shoulder already, but haven't tried getting helmet yet.
I have a hybrid healer/tank Templar that I need to get sorted out, as well...currently have WP and SPC, but haven't decided which monster set to go with yet.0 -

Yolnahkriin + Alkosh + Lord Warden along with careful CP allocations and constant hardened armor uptime will still allow you to hit resistance cap. 30k-33k health depending on food and that's more than enough health if your resistances are capped. High health without high resistances is just a slight delay on inevitable death and a waste of utility potential.1 -

Pretty much this. Alkosh and Yol can both be farmed in normal trials which makes them somewhat easy to get. Don't let anyone tell you that plague doctor is worth it. Craft turogs if you're missing one set. Ebon is godd as well for a start. Tanking is all about habits and consistency. Plague wont teach you thatMost OwOrated healer of all time0 -

Plague is a learning set. It's easy to get big heals while you're getting into harder content while still learning tanking. Plague and Torugs was my first combo before getting into Ebon. It's fine until you start progressing into trials and need some utility.0
