Disappearing housing items

I recently had my blacksmithing station go missing from my Elsweyr Lunar Champion home, shortly after I re-arranged all of my stations through the housing menu. A Murkmire derelict kiln located right next to it also disappeared and neither item has returned. I cannot "retrieve" the items through the housing menu either, they're not listed (although all my other stations are listed). It's as if they never existed. Has anyone else ever had an item go missing or disappear like that?

    There have been multiple complaints about it happening in the xanmeer home but this is the first i've heard of it in the Hall. But I mean, people are swearing up and down it's happening. If you have EHT, it'll keep a record of what you have and you'd be able to compare.

    @StabbityDoom is correct - if you are on PC and you have Essential Housing Tools installed, you can click:

    EHT button | Tools tab | Reports | Items by House

    That report lists the items that you have had in your home, your saved selections and in the automatic backups that EHT takes each time you enter your house. If you find that items are missing, you can load up that report for the home in question to confirm the items were in fact there. (Just in case they were maybe in a different home, etc.)

    Also, my DecoTrack add-on integrates with Essential Housing Tools' Housing Hub to provide one unified place where you can search all of your furniture items across all of your characters, housing storage chests and coffers, bank and, of course, your homes. <3

    I have had furniture items vanish before. Sometimes they relocate themselves to wacky places like -5000 meters but other times they are just gone.

    Once you check your placed items and their locations to verify that the items are indeed missing - send a ticket and ask for help. ZOS has never failed to return the items that vanished.

    Not exactly the same, but yesterday I purchased some gold enchants in a bank in the City.
    I then ported to my house to transmute some items.
    I opened up the mail whilst in the house, retrieved the enchants from the mail and then opened my inventory to try and equip them to my newly transmuted items.
    The enchants had all vanished entirely, not in the mail or inventory - it seems that the house had 'eaten' them.
    I might try to replicate it again with less expensive items.

    I also believe there was a bug some time ago where the storage boxes were making furnishing items vanish, not sure how long ago or if it could be related to your issue.
    I hope you manage to retrieve your furnishings. Very odd indeed.

    I had this happen in both the exorcised cottage and blackvine villa recently (within the past few weeks).
    With both cases I submitted a ticket to the help part in game--and got the items back without questions ...so i would strongly encourage you to the same before making too many modifications to your place so they can see the loss...

    Thanks for the advice everyone... I did submit a ticket immediately after it happened but only got an automated response about Crown store items which had absolutely nothing to do with the issue I had submitted so I ignored it. Then they closed the ticket without further notification or acknowledgement. I don't any real person ever read my complaint, just sent the automated response. I re-submitted the ticket yesterday using another category (not "missing item") and am waiting to hear back from them. Meanwhile I finally went to Rolis with some writ vouchers and replaced the station last night as I use my stations all the time and looking at the empty spot was like looking at a surgical wound.

    I'm also interested to hear that this is not such an isolated incident as I'd thought. It definitely makes me leery about purchasing items either in-game with gold or in the Crown Store.

    Oops, sorry about the unfinished post, I'm so upset right now.

    I just checked the status of my ESO ticket and it was CLOSED again, this time for being a duplicate! I am SO FRUSTRATED right now. It is NOT a duplicate, it was never responded to . Even if they'd said "Tough Luck Lady", at least that would be a response. They just keep closing/cancelling my ticket without notifying me or responding to my complaint at all.

    My items are missing.

    I can't believe they treat customers this way, I'm just shocked.

    The first response to your ticket is always automated - make sure you reply to it & that usually gets a human response.

    They have been really excellent at sorting things when i have asked (including me stropping out as to where 2 gold daggers had disappeared to when embarrassingly they were on another character 😬)

    i just lost another item :( ...i was decorating left to make a purchase at a guild vendor and come back to an item vanished off the wall...

    any ideas on why this happens? is it an add on? or just a new bug in the game for some reason...its kind of annoying

    This is the norm now for most tickets. It must be a bot response.

    Disappearing items can't be a new issue. The first time this happened to me was well over a year ago.

    Stay on top of it, write down the number of your ticket and when (if) you have to reopen one cite the number of the first

    I'm sorry it happened to you again Poms. I submitted yet another ticket for my issue and am now waiting to hear back from them.

    Hopefully they can give me some sort of explanation as to how it happened... was it some sort of combination of buttons that I pushed? How do I/we keep it from happening again?

    Frankly, I'm pretty down about it and not very anxious to spend my money. I have definitely lost my usual excitement about upcoming Crown Store items.

    @AvaLanche1 I am hoping they replace our items :(

    This is the first time when i have submitted a ticket they haven't just given back my item right away- today instead of just giving me back the item, I, as you have, just got an stock answer about how to use the housing editor.
    I have responded to that email with a follow up email trying to explain again the situation- hopefully they refund the lost item.

    @sueblue I didn't know this was such an old problem...it's never happened for me before- but in the past month or so I have lost 3 items while building. It makes me scared to wonder how many things just go poof and i haven't noticed. :(

    Update here as well... they replaced my blacksmithing station and the other missing item which was very nice of them.

    However, there was no indication of why these items had disappeared in the first place.

    My biggest take-away from this experience is how to deal with their ticketing system.

    Hopefully though, I won't ever have to use it again.

    and yah i have no idea either why things are going missing...its rather unsettling.
