I have a theory that we're done getting event tix for pvp events. They cancelled midsummer, and SO MANY PVErs complained about week three of the anniversary that I suspect ZoS decided to alienate the 50 pvpers left (who likely don't care about event tix except for all the AP pinatas walking around in divines).

One of the biggest apparent problems with Midyear Mayhem was that the Battlegrounds queue had not yet been fixed. They could not reasonably (and they said that they wouldn’t) run an event that *required* the use of the LFG activity finder, as BGs do, until that was remedied. Holding MM without functioning BGs would feel like half an event, especially since BGs have been incorporated into the festival achievements - I say this even as someone who avoids BGs in favor of Cyrodiil. They have now rewritten the backend of the dungeon LFG finder, but the BG queue system is still a re-work in progress. Hopefully that will be done in time for the Midyear Mayhem “encore” slot in January. If they hadn’t intended to run MM at a future point, I wouldn’t think they’d have said explicitly that they intend to run it again after cancelling. (That said, I’ve certainly been surprised before.)

Imperial City, on the other hand, does not have anything to do with the LFG finder at all. The separation of IC from the overland campaign means far less of an impact on Cyrodiil as well. Unless they plan on removing PvP from the game entirely and creating even more new PvE events to supply their four-per-quarter standard quota, it’s in their best interests to keep the Imperial City celebration. From a business perspective IC draws DLC sales and ESO+ subs, which Midyear Mayhem does not, so they would stand to lose even more money by cancelling IC than MM. And while plenty of people were disgruntled with PvP ticket dailies per se (which is not to broach the subject of griefing during the event), keep in mind that ZOS put tickets in the Crown Store for a reason - so people who do not own relevant DLC, who miss an event, or who just don’t want to participate, can use crowns to get tickets if they feel the need. Many people - including PvE fans - were also extremely disgruntled with the repeat of the Thieves Guild & Dark Brotherhood event, whether because it was a repeat, because it replaced Midyear Mayhem, because they did not own those DLCs, or because they objected to the Heists and Sacraments (on moral and/or gameplay grounds). I’m sure I haven’t hit every reason either. As long as Zeni receives revenue either from DLC purchases/subs or from ticket purchases in the crown store (ideally - for them - resulting in further crown purchases), they won’t cancel an event just because some segment of the population, however vocal, doesn’t like the dailies, whether PvP or PvE. But a broken LFG finder would have made Midyear Mayhem live up to its name, and I think that had everything to do with this year’s cancellation.

I like IC. As long as you run with a small group you can have fun. By yourself not as fun. Events in IC bring to many gankers.
