5000 crowns and up. If they make them cheap, people with 12 chars that grinded over and over again will cry P2W.

    Also... profit.

Everything beyond 1K crowns is going to be too much. Why would you pay the DLC price or even a chapter price for a skill line, it simply doesn't make sense. Just take the Undaunted skill line as an example, worst case scenario it will take a couple of weeks if you play casually and if you play hardcore you can get it in one day. But I guess there's lot of whales who are eager to spend more shekels in the crown store.

I imagine so. For all of the people here who say they'll never pay it... the crown price for other items remains terribly high. Somebody is buying horse training, vamp bites and skyshard packs. My guess is people will buy these too.

5000 each if its for just the skill line.
8000 - 1000 each if its skill line and the skill points with finished quest line.

Just look at prices for other things.

1500 each for unleveled Werewolf and Vampire.
5000 each for banker and Merchant.
    1500 for Warden class.
    1000 for (10) riding lessons.
5000 for instant Grand Research token.

If it’s not over 5k, I might use is as a finisher on a couple characters for the longest grind (Undaunted for me). If it was 2k-3k, I’d use it on a lot more characters. Therefore, it will probably be 6k.

5000 a skillline at the very least. This is going to be another luxury item on the Crown Store and they have historically been expensive. I seriously doubt that ZOS will be open to allowing players to easily afford these skill lines when it will potentially impact log in and play time numbers. Grind is a huge part of the games profitability and negating that will require larger price tags.

The more crucial/popular the skill line, the more expensive it will be. They know that there are a lot of PvEers that hate grinding Alliance skills so they'll probably make that one pretty high. Undaunted will probably be pretty high. I'm guessing in the 15k range.

Per the patch notes: "Skill Lines for Alternate Characters
Fully completing a skill line on one character now unlocks the ability to purchase that achievement and skill line on other characters."

I doubt many PvE'ers that HATE PvP have actually maxed the Alliance skill line.

I personally hate PvP and only spend enough time in there to unlock Vigor, Caltrops, etc. then head for calmer parts of Tamriel. Honestly I couldn't even tell you at what level the Alliance skill maxes... is it 10 like Mages/Fighters/Undaunted, or does it go to 12-20 like Thieves/DB/Legerdemain?

I think somewhere between 5-10k for some of these lines but typically Zo$ goes higher than I expect. Also, I expect ones like Mages, Undaunted, Fighters to be higher than someone like Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood. Maybe 3-5k for lesser lines.

I'm sure they will be so expensive for my poor eastern European wallet that I'd rather re-grind the skill lines on alts, lol. Tbh, I actually like them except for PvP/Undaunted, I hate those. I don't even mind Mages/Psijic.

the real question is. why zos want to make money from everything? also. why does the game looks like all this money is going some offshore bank accounts instead the game?

I am sorry but do you think that they made this game out of the kindness of their hearts? They are a company, and they want to make a profit. It’s not ‘evil’, it’s capitalism. It’s how the world runs at the moment.

    Really constructive answer /s

Adults with childlike mentalities. It's no wonder why gaming companies are monetizing everything

Well it was quite a childish question. I gave a simple yet true answer. I don’t necessarily like it, but do understand that for the game to be maintained and developed, it needs funds to pay for wages etc.

Has there ever been a game that was made without an eye on profits?

But I doubt ZOS would base their metrics on the most efficient and experienced and established player and especially a third-party AddOn that consoles don't have.
If a "typical player" takes a long time and a heck of a lot more than 2 hours, then I think they'd price it based on that in relation to the other skill lines.

All ASSUMING that time is the main factor. It might actually not be. Maybe popularity might be an influence -- how many people bothered to unlock that skill line fully?

Which brings up the possibility that Alik'r Dolmens isn't going to be the yardstick for the Fighter's Guild skill line either.

You can already buy the Werewolf or Vampire skill-lines for 1500, unleveled.
    So I'm gonna guess 3000 for a fully-leveled skill-line.

Those skill lines incl bank, inventory space and mount upgrades have been in games since day one. New skill lines will probably be on level with buying a bank NPC or vendor (around 5000 Crowns) and be sold during sale as packages.

Both WW and Vampire lines where meant to have draw backs that would mean that you had to plan for those in your build, as for skill lines those are base abilities (active and passive skills) that have a more general use in every build. It is also important to remeber that you can now exchange Gold into Crowns which you couldn't when those first "upgrades" and skill lines where introduced with game. That will also have an impact on CrownStore prices as too low and nobody will run content in this game that which make game seem empty from players (no need to grind skill lines; only Gold).

How will this now change events like Midyear Mayhem for PvP or other events where you get boost to XP for doing that event in a zone (which also level up skill lines)? Not sure if this is good thing in long run as there is more into the possibility to buy a skill line then just getting it faster after first unlock on a character.

Crown store pricing reminds me of an episode of Planet Money where they explored the topic of sports stadium food pricing: both that and ESO are captive markets.

Just like how team owners feel no guilt over charging $7 for a hot dog, so too does eso feel zero guilt over the high crown prices they place on things. Captive market, take it or leave it, to hell with the consumer’s sense of value.

But in the PM episode they reported on the Falcons, who were upending the traditional ‘squeeze all you can’ food pricing and going for more customers at non-robbery rates... and it worked.

It’s only 20 minutes, the eso peeps could take it in during lunch.
Overpriced stadium food is standard at big-time sporting events. If you get hungry, expect to fork over $7 for a hot dog. It's annoying. It's also simple economics: Inside a stadium, there's no competition bringing prices down, so prices stay high. Sports fans are trapped in a captive market.

That's usually the end of the story. But the Atlanta Falcons are trying something different. They've lowered prices. It could change the way stadium economics works.

Today on the show: We send two reporters down to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to eat their way through a radical experiment.

    @pdblake per the patch notes:

    Skill Lines for Alternate Characters
Fully completing a skill line on one character now unlocks the ability to purchase that achievement and skill line on other characters. Once unlocked on your current character, the chosen skill line immediately advances to its maximum rank. All abilities contained within the purchased skill line arrive unranked, allowing you to advance and morph the skill as you see fit.

The wording is somewhat vague, but I take this to mean that while the skill line will be at max rank, none of the skills will have been unlocked (you'll need to spend skill points to do so) and also that you will not be given any skill points that would have traditionally been earned by ranking it up. (IE you'll still have to do the associated main story quests to get the skill points that you would have acquired while leveling up soul magic... or just like you can max out the mages skill line just by reading lore books, but you won't be given the skill points since you haven't kicked Valaste to the curb).

Thanks for that. Still not sure how much they should charge though. It's not something I'd consider personally. To me the whole point of playing a game is to, well, play it, though that will mean different things to different people.
