Have you tried black desert? I'm waiting for the PS4 release. I hope it's nice :-)

A bunch of us played BD from ESO its the most grindy game you will play. Combat was ok but in the end we all left . Oh how we laughed when a guildy was grinding Ogre rings so that he could upgrade his current ogre ring only for them to all (3) blow up...He never played again

Thank you for the information. So, maybe it's not the game to go with :-(

Not enough information, but f2p does not sound promising.

I'm not sure that should make a difference in quality anymore. Back in-the-day mmo would be b2p/sub=quality & f2p/cash shop=garbage.

    & now..

ESO is b2p, sub, xpacs, & cash shop...not exactly the quality/performance you would expect from that model.

No free to play MMO is seeing my hours ever again. I'm putting my money on Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, which is intended to be sub-only and shares a lot of the development team of the original EverQuest. Hope that one doesn't break its promise like ESO did.

I dont play Free to Play-Games. They are inherently bad. Like Mobilegames.

The last so-called "free to play" MMO I tried was garbage, like every other so-called "free to play" game I have ever tried. Nothing is free. They make them "free" by adding in "features" that I absolutely despise. And coming from sleazozon, I don't trust it as far as I can throw it.

If you play ESO, you do. The structure's the same. As soon as you abandon mandatory subs and start monetizing in-game sales, it's just a matter of scale. More or less fluff, more or less p2w, more or less gambling. But the mechanics are all there.

ESO is actually the first MMO i play for more than a few months, i kind of lost faith in other MMO's.

Let's be frank, if they took the Crafting Bag out of ESO+ and put it in the Crown Store instead, there'd be little reason to keep subbing. The Crafting Bag is essentially the barrel that ZOS has us all sprawled over and about the only thing that keeps ESO from crossing the thin line between B2P and F2P.

Anyway, after playing LOTRO for several years (but not for a long time now) I've no hunger for another LOTR game. It's stale. I'd prefer to see something more original.

Would love LOTR to be great and will have a look but any free to play model right out the gate is going to be littered with way worse microtransactions than we have in ESO. Games like that generally cost more overall in the long run and are pay to win and never get the amount of updates like ESO.

    Not enough info.

I have no plans on leaving ESO for any game. I can log on and do my crafting on my 9 characters in ESO each day and still play Cyberpunk 2077.

There are some Lore backgrounds that could lure me away... but... LotR is not one of them.

There are also some game features that might pique my interest... but... games usually don't dare to go that far. (Still wishing for a "brutality pack" for ESO someday...)

Maybe because Amazon has the hardware for any possible mmo.
I play FF14 meanwhile so it's like I already left ESO.

Vaguely interested. But think that Amazon are going to make an utter mess of their LotR series - it’s hard to get fantasy right.

Needs decent casting, usually with European actors, not attractive American movie stars. (Watch any of the fantasy on the Sci-fi channel and prove me wrong).

This. I also play SWTOR, which is free to play, and between the two I find ESO to be far more aggressively monetized with microtransactions and "conveniences" that you can't get without paying, while still asking you to pay for the game, expansions, and multiple dlc every year. It's like the worst of both worlds.

I spent eight years in LOTRO. Not sure I’m ready for another LOTR-inspired MMO, and am frankly confused as to why Amazon is working on one.

They are working on a middle Earth series, and having a MMO going with it, if done right, will get all the nerds wetting their pants. I mean, I know I am if it's done properly.

    Possibly.

I'm one good MMO away from leaving ESO.

On Xbox I've tried all of which are available and nothing has stood out like ESO (Neverwinter was pretty close).

There is also Bless Unleashed coming to consoles, which the closed beta starts today that I will try out.

Let's see how is their support after New World, then we can decide. If the New World will be good and Amazon supports it well (better than ZoS for starters), I'm certainly giving it a chance while waiting for ESO2. Current ESO engine is limiting the devs and destined to die.

No, LOTRO was kind of a bust the first time around and Bungie has done a lot with Destiny 2 since announcing they are going solo so I will play that or Final Fantasy 14.

    Of course not.

ESO continues to be my main MMORPG home and I don't see that ever changing. That doesn't mean there aren't other games I play, including LoTRO, but I think it unlikely the Amazon game will tick many boxes for me, not least in respect of the likely business model. Even if it did, I'd play it in addition to ESO, not in place of it.

F2p model means tons of cosmetics for sale and most dev time into that crap . No thanks . The first lotro was designed without any true pvp . It did not fare well with their PvM substitute . New game companies scare us . Look how many boo boos ZoS has had growing up .
