That statement literally makes me cringe.
They will not announce it because they will not do it. They cannot monetise PvP evidently, as seen in BG and Cyrodiil. They also do not have the resources or would bother spending money on that, since as mentioned above; they cannot monetize it nor will they.
Accept the fact it's not going to get added. It does NOT fit an Elder Scrolls game at all, this is ZoS and Bethesda, not EA.Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.2 -

Remember when nearly every single game/license tried to be an MMO to emulate World of Warcraft? Yeah, how many of them survived, in comparison to how many essentially crumbled and faded in to obscurity? Not many, I can tell you that.
Same with Battle Royally games: They're seen as the next best thing, but will eventually be forgotten and people will go back to doing their own thing. If ESO were to add it now, chances are it'd be popular for... A week at most, and then people would forget about it.
By the way, you still haven't answered why you don't go play OTHER Battle Royally games, instead of forcing it in to an MMO that does not need it? I demand an answer to that question.3 -

Yeah it would probably just turn into Night Blades playing hide and seek.
But still - if all the OP wanted was essentially a last man standing mode for battlegrounds I don't really see the harm so long as there was a time limit attached to it.... if that's what the OP is asking for. I'm not really sure all what the term battle royal entails.1 -

Not sure how new you are to ESO and/or forums, but a quick "search" will show yours is not a new idea, and recieved the same no matter how many times it's brought up. It's like the "Auction House" threads, a dead horse that get's beat again and again.

Armatesz✭✭✭✭✭For all the people that say Fallout 76 is or was dead and seeing that game from its launch I still don't see that game as being as dead as others claim it to be. Sure fallout 76 has many hiccups and honestly the duping community honestly feels out of control. To say it is dead honestly is a lie in itself.
For battle royal it still appears to be quite as strong as ever and there is still quite a strong foothold of players that engage heavily in the battle royal sorts. Would I like to see battle royal in eso? Not really keen on it imo, eso has 3 pvp sorts already... duals, cryodiil and imperial city as well as battlegrounds. Fallout 76 has wanted system and the team or single player pvp as well as the two pvp modes and survival and nuclear winter modes which already is in itself enough imo.
Do I think eso will get a battle royal mode? It will more than likely get one if there is enough of a vocal majority asking for it or a significant amount of said people asking for it.
It isn't about just having a battle royal mode but how it is delivered that would make it sink or swim in itself.
There are plenty of ways to play many games out there, battle royal honestly doesn't need to overload the game marketplace but at the same time there are those that like the thrill that they give.Ärmätèsz

Zos has already learned that there are not enough players willing to pay for PvP. BGs were asked for time and time again since the game launched yet Zos had to move it to the base game because it did not receive enough support.
So if BR was added in any form, yea, Zos would have to lock it behind ESO+ to even have a chance to be worth it. If it does not get enough support they can then ditch it and tell the player base they heard them loud and clear, that they did not want more PvP options. Then again, they already heard that message.
Then again, to be actually BR a new combat system would need to be devised since there is no even matchups using our current characters. We see certain builds are needed for BGs as it is. I just do not think it is worth the work to build it out.3 -
