I made a build that complements my playstyle something that is average in both pve and pvp and I love it... it's not the best but...I don't gotta go farm out some new items every time they change. If a meta set becomes nerfed....I get stronger...

I was just about to throw it all away and jump on the heavy armor meta bandwagon after seeing somebody sustain better than I did in medium armor just by heavy attacking...Then I heard about some rumored leaks...It made me realize why I NEVER will jump on the meta bandwagon...

I was really going to jump on it too...heavy attack does a good amount of damage...then u get resources back...then you reverse slice em... so tasty...I see why heavy is the meta now lol...

I will leave you with this...

Glad you asked, it is about why one should play to their own strengths in the game rather than copy a meta that will be nerfed...I was just about to jump on that meta bandwagon after seeing somebody do a heavy attack and get a good amount of resources back. Then I heard about thee rumored nerfs.

I don't mind sort of monitoring what the 'big kidz' are doing just for info and tips that just might suit my purpose. What I don't do is chase gear. I put each of my characters in an appropriate overland or dungeon set x5, an appropriate crafted set, and an appropriate monster set x2. As long as their gear remains appropriate, I don't change it.

I don't really care about top end content (PvP, vDLC dungeons, trials) so I don't feel obligated to seek out top end gear.

Sets like Hundings, Spriggans, Seducers, Julianos, Necropotence, Slimecraw, etc work pretty well for my desired level of content.

The changes in meta become nice when you've learned and played a build for so long that you welcome the idea of having to change it up a little and getting to learn something new. When you're just starting to learn a class, it's horrible to suddenly have to switch it up. xD

Personally I think both is very fun. I want to push myself and I want to do the best I can do.
But I also had to make myself a DD with a simple setup where I never practiced rotation just so I never felt any pressure when playing her. Anything else always comes with some amount of stress for me.

Most of sets from pve wasnt even nerfed, they just release a new better sets so im rly interesting from where u have those information about nerfs.

Second thing... no, nerfs for items doesnt make your stronger because instead of them, new items will appear in their place.

So i dont see any reasons to keep this thread alive, its just saying "meta is bad... bla bla bla...i want be orginal" but i will tell you the truth... u are not, wearing non popular sets doesnt make you orginal. Honestly i dont care what u wearing, its your gameplay until u will trying to do vet content and you will have to be carried (its disgusting) because you dont do your job as healer/dd/tank.

Depends on your goals in the game. Idc about end game vet content so I usually wear whatever.

This is usually what happens to me as well, though not always. That said, I don't really make "builds" and I don't care what my perceived status is in whatever someone else comes up with for some measure of worth. I design characters, because this is an RPG. It's a platform for telling stories and being creative. When I learned about this thing people call "meta" I was just horrified and had no interest in it whatsoever. Talk about sucking the creative soul out of an RPG... haha.

If you are not interested in chasing meta gear, then why in the world would you be interested in 'being carried' in a vet dungeon? For the meta gear you don't need? I don't think so. My point is many players don't care about vet content. For those who do, then I agree that they certainly should do whatever it takes to make sure they can capably do their assigned role so others indeed do not have to 'carry' them.

I don't think OP said meta is bad. In fact, he clearly said meta is good/strong but simply enjoys playing a build that doesn't fit the meta. Meta is good. Non-meta is good.

As long as you can fulfill your role in regards to the content you do very few people will care if you are meta.
However if your off meta build only hits 5k dps and you feel you should be in vet dungeons you are a liability to your group and are looking to be carried.
If you're healer doesn't do some buffing and debuffing in vet dungeons you are looking to be carried.
If your tank doesn't control adds do some buffing and debuffing in vet dungeons you are looking to be carried.
It's not ok to be carried because you want to be unique, however if you can fulfill your role use whatever gear and skills make you happy.
If you can't fulfill your role don't be selfish and stay to content suitable for your build and playstyle.
It's not ok to expect others to carry...

I mean. I still dont get your point.if the class you are using gets nerfed, u still get nerfed.
If you have a tank, it consistently get nerfed every single big update (as all tanks).
Most nerfs come from skills, and not sets. Therefore, as i asked in the beginning.

Then again, i tank on a olorime/ebon/symphony frost/resto tank, which is soooo meta, i still feel the nerf to nb tanks in my bones. It is on the way.

Anyway my point is, that your "dont trust anything that procs" is kinda irrelevant because it is usually skill nerfs and not set nerfs
