The current state of Magicka Necromancer

Currently, Magicka necromancer is extremely underperforming in both PvP, and PvE. I was really looking forward to this class. It has some really cool abilities and I love the overall theme of class, but the skills are broken and do no damage. Trying to play magicka necro in pvp is a joke. Your blastbones just goes afk or just doesn't know where to go, and the few times that it does go to the enemy it either doesn't hit them or the damage is next to nothing. Thats just talking about blastbones, the rest of the skills feel like they dont even tickle anyone in pvp. I have tried out multiple builds with this class as I really want it to work. I think it has great potential. Same goes for stamnecro, it is a bit more viable in pvp (Not talking about the bash build). So this is just a message to zos saying please fix and buff magicka necro as I think it has huge potential to be an extremely fun class and I dont want necro to just be a bash bot class.

    DoTs are nice on paper and even nice in PvE but skills like Tether or the Archer are pretty much useless in PvP because they’re just so incredibly weak. I wish Blast Bones would be the only issue but it’s not. Necromancers’ offensive skills are as bad as Wardens‘ with Tether/Siphon being not only a targeting nightmare, they’re both hella weak and the very fast yet very weak tick rate doesn’t help either.

    Stamcro is good because it has BB burst plus all the burst from Stamina weapons. Magicka has nothing like that.

    Magicka necro has such potential and the class is so fun to play. The corpse playstyle is fun too but magicka is just lacking because of the bugs. If they polished necro a bit then magcro would be a dangerous playstyle. The skulls hit pretty hard and so does BB when it ACTUALLY hits the target. The damage tether is basically a passive on your bar and even then I'd rather have something else. The healing tether is okay for the heals around yourself, the tether itself is meh. I mean when I am on my healing necro and players are around me that healing tether can keep people up just based on the heals coming from (my body? This is hard to explain lol) The tether itself is unreliable, can be lost to line of sight (I don't even bother with the alignment of it anymore) but the heals that shoot out of you are pretty good.

    I am getting into stamcro right now but so far, even at level 15, I feel it just flows better. Still a bit buggy but works better than magcro so far.

    Blast bones needs one of two possible changes.

    Either boost its damage to high heaven to account for the fact it so rarely hits anything (literally making enemies panic and scramble to CC/kill the pet as it rushes towards them, or die)

    Or rework it to function more like sorcerer curse, placing an effect on the enemy (can look like the meteor ring) which after a while causes the skeleton to jump out of the ground right next to target and immediately explode.

    Speaking from PvP point of view.

    "Insane damage" yeah. PvE in this game is playable with your brain turned off (except hard modes and dlc veteran dungeons), has nothing to do with Siphon being strong.

    I am talking more about PvP standpoint though and there both skills are awful alone due to their corpse / targeting mechanic. The healing version is a bit better due to turning it into a player based AoE healing, the DPS version is crap.

    Couldn't agree more, it's *** terrible and everyone in my trial guilds agree. You will get two or three melee enthusiasts who hate the idea of magicka competing in here soon claiming that magicka necro can easily compete with stamina. They have yet to provide any parses to prove this, meanwhile everyone I know who is actually outstanding at the game can not get magicka necro to compare in the least bit to any of the melee dps.

    It is atrocious and appalling that if you want to play a necromancer in an elder scrolls game you have to do it as melee or with bows

    DUAL BOW BUILD is preforming better than magicka build. Let that sink in.

    Yeah I’ve defended necro a lot early on but I had to adapt. I’ve come to accept the fact that after pushing and I mean really pushing myself and experimenting endlessly with different DPS builds for necro, that the class maybe isn’t made for DPS. Now I have seen A magcro hit 84k DPS on a dummy so it’s possible with the effort and legend quality armor and jewelry I guess. Since I still like the class what I’ve done is just amplified one of the strengths of the class, which is the tankiness by running pirate skeleton, while still being able to do moderate damage. Pirate skeleton on a necro or any class for that matter is pretty tough to take down even when getting piled on. It’s probably an OP monster set but It’s always fun to know you’ve got a group of people raging cause they can’t kill one person. I know ZoS’ goal is to make every class balanced enough so that any class can fit any role but that just isn’t the case atm.

    Edit: haven’t made a stamcro yet but I will soon and see how that plays.

    I would like to add a voice here to agree with you guys maybe it helps so update to this class happends sooner.
    Now i totally leave room for the possibily that im a total noob and dont know what im doing but the class is just clunky. For wanting to play a mage with a necro twist i feel im being punished and have to work harder for less reward rather than staying with the regular mage (sorc) and having a wide toolkit plus easier damage output.

    The siphon skills feel extremely lackluster, your movement and positioning gets dictated by these skills and the targetting is horrible. I wish it'd be just an AoE dot/hot around instead of this weird beam.
    I used to think that PvP was a tragedy, but now I realize, it's a comedy.
