Which magicka class is the most effective when played like a “brawler” in pvp?

I am looking to start a new alt and going mag this time. I hate the whole “sneak around” gameplay so I am looking for something that can take a lot beating of and wears down opponents with constant pressure rather than surprise bursts.

Can someone please give me tips which class fits this style better?

I’ve thought about and seen some unkillable magblades but I am not sure if this is right. My stereotype of NBs is exactly the opposite of brawling, but I have 0 experience on them and could be wrong.

Edit: I should have specified I really don’t care about the melee aspect of the brawler stereotype.

    Magicka DK.

The only magicka class that has to be in melee range in order to use most of its abilities.

    stonefist is your friend

Stonefist: Slam an enemy with solid rock, dealing [3689 / 3729 / 3771 / 3809] Magic Damage and stunning them for 2.5 seconds. Deals 100% more damage if you successfully stun the target.
    Obsidian Shard: Area: 28 meters.
Slam an enemy with solid rock, dealing 1229 Magic Damage and stunning them for 2.5 seconds. Heals you or an ally near the enemy for [8300 / 8390 / 8481 / 8573] Health.
    Stone Giant: Cost: 3240 Magicka.
Slam an enemy with solid rock, dealing 3809 Magic Damage and stunning them for 2.5 seconds. Deals 100% more damage if you successfully stun the target. You gain Minor Resolve and Minor Ward, increasing your Spell Resistance and Physical Resistance by 1320 for [12 / 13 / 14 / 15] seconds.

    Obsidian Shard

Stonefist deals physical damage and stuns enemies. It is a good way to quickly disable a nearby opponent, either allowing you to deal with fewer melee attackers nearby, or to allow you to charge up a heavy attack or other ability as a follow-up. Obsidian Shard reduces the damage but also heals you or a nearby ally. Alternatively, Stone Giant will increase your Physical Resistance while having reduced cost.

Agree with the above, but would also suggest Magicka Templar.

Alcast has a good build for magplar

    https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-templar-build-pve/

But honestly, i think that seducer and torugs pact combo are under rated, esp if you use a skoria monster set. You can use a fire staff on one or both bars with healing abilities on the back bar (alt healing staff on back bar) And you got a strong dps/healer that can pull both roles in vet dungeons.

Yep I actually like using Stone Giant instead of Fossilize because it has more range and seems to work easier against fast moving targets. Also it's funny as hell stunning someone from a distance and then watching them lay there as I slowly close the gap. It must feel terrifying watching a DK slow-poke across the battlefield as you lay there stunned and helpless. lol

Magblade. Tanky magblades are literal brawlers.

    Yup like this build: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/444931/the-phalanx-magplar-pvp-build-murkmire/p1

Magnec also need to be in melee range to be efficient but so far they are just too weak. I mean BB is meant to be used in melee and corps skill are far easyer to land if your in melee range.

Thanks for all the replies. I really should have specified I dont care about the melee part of the “brawler”, what I was going for was the whole “magicka warrior who can take a beating, despite of being melee or ranged”.

Taking the melee out of the equation, is dk still the “true answer”?

That is what I read somewhere, since they apparently can soak a lot of damage.

I would say yes still magDK but magplar has good ranged abilities. Magcro could also fit the “brawler” criteria cause they are very tanky but the dps is weak for the most part.

I play MagDK, MagPlar, and MagBlade- but I have a melee bar and a ranged bar. That way, I can adjust to most encounters.

MagDK melee: Burning Embers, Whip (your choice of which morph), Talons, Volatile Armor, Chains, Leap.

MagPlar melee: Purifying Light, Puncturing Sweep, Repentance, Ritual of Retribution, Race Against Time, Crescent Sweep.

MagBlade melee: Mass Hysteria, Concealed Weapon, Phantasmal Escape, Sap, Lotus Fan, Soul Siphon.

I currently run Innate + Spinners on almost all of my magic-based builds. So, you get high damage and high penetration which, in turn, increases your self heals. You just need to tailor your regen to your playstyle.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

I find its unsettling that is so little uptodate content about magwarden. I tried looking on youtube for some pvp gameplay and its rare. Makes me think what the problem is.

mag DK is the "brawler" type

Magplar is similar but isn't really played that way. it's more of a range -> close -> range -> close kinda playstyle
same with Magden where you keep your opponent at range and then push and work the positioning of the fight, sometimes at range and sometimes close.

Mag DK is the only one that really wants to stay in the brawler playstyle.

Can you elaborate more about magden please?

MagDk. You can sit horse anywhere you want to, look at you map without stealthing up, never get ganked by turdblades, and etc. etc.

Now you might get bursted down by a MagSorc if you drop wings (yes THIS patches wings). Yet, if you keep wings up and pressure on the fools they’ll streak away. Just don’t chase.

You can brawl on this class for sure.

Magdens are actually really good, in BG I've faced multiple magdens who wipe the whole map instantly with 6-10k dmgs... Insane winning death match for the team solo... Was pissed off but at the same time amazed.
I'll own you fool, COME AT ME YOU SON OF A GUN, hi names Life... LIKE FOR LIFE kthnxbye
