Stamina Based Staff?

I've always wanted a stamina based staff that had some utility. So here is what I am thinking would be a pretty awesome addition to the game:

Staff Characteristics
  • 5-10% Less DMG than 1h/2h lines
  • Slightly longer reach @ 8-9 meters
  • DMG or (lower) DMG/Heal

The below are just thoughts on how such a weapon could be utilized, not suggesting these would be the skills. This would allow a stamina based healer in the game (main intent), but does force a morph choice for this, no healing will be on the staff skills without a morph.

Striking Blow - Deals X DMG
|M| Quick Blows - Deals X DMG consecutively 5 times with the last blow dealing 250% more DMG
|M| Illustrious Blows - Deals X DMG consecutively 5 times with the last blow healing you or an ally for X

Dash - Launch across the earth and whack an enemy, dealing X DMG
|M| Make Haste - cross check your enemy with your staff, dealing X DMG stunning them for 3 seconds
|M| Sudden Onset - launch across the earth and whack an enemy, dealing (a reduced) X DMG, and applies a health regeneration to you or up to two allies for 15 seconds. The buff is consumed if you/ally get below 50% health and removes 1 negative effect.

Earth Puncture - Slam your staff into the ground, dealing X DMG to enemies around you (7 meter radius)
|M| Creeping Earth - Slam your staff into the ground, dealing (an increased) X DMG to enemies around you, and slowing them by 40% for 4 seconds
|M| Exhalation - Slam your staff into the ground, healing those around you (7 meter radius), you gain a synergy aura around you for 5 seconds, allies may use synergy to restore X stamina/magicka

Protective Blow - Deals X DMG, applying minor ward/resolve (7m radius)
|M| Blow of Redoubt - Deals X DMG, applying minor ward/resolve/protection (7m radius)
|M| Warding Blow - Deals X DMG, applying minor ward/resolve (7m radius) and applies a barrier to you or the lowest health ally around you up to 12 meters away, when the barrier is destroyed by DMG, it heals the target for X

Revitalize - Deals X DMG, granting Major Endurance for 5 seconds
|M| Replenish - Deals X DMG, granting Major Endurance and applies minor staminasteal for 5 seconds
|M| Rescue - Deals X DMG, granting Major Endurance and applies minor lifesteal for 5 seconds

--ULTIMATE--
Retribution |150u| - Your light attacks deal 40% more DMG for the next 8 seconds (Empower)
|M| Swift Retribution - Your light attacks deal 40% more DMG and you gain major expedition for the next 8 seconds
|M| Replenishing Retribution - Your light attacks deal 40% more DMG for the next 8 seconds, your light attacks heal you or an ally (up to 10 meters) for the DMG done (each swing)

    I'll point out that the staff works quite well with the 2H animations as it is.

    As an old DAoC player, essentially yes. Obviously not the skills I listed but it was just a showcase of how it might be done.

    a disease staff and a 1h+spell close up magicka weapon would be great....and zos wouldnt have to implement new wespon modells

    Instead of a staff that do stamina based dmg, I hope they'll give an alternative skill line for staff that work as a melee spear.

    There are many good and aggressive looking staff style in the game but it just feel like a wasted opportunity since I can't poke things with it

    Agree with this. Better a spear than a stamina staff...we really don't need stamina and magicka versions of every single last thing in this game.

    I can get on board with this as a boe/quarters staff, mid range melee weapon, but it puts magicka on the back foot further. Magicka has only 2 weapon lines, and damage is delivered usually mid to full range. Stam dps essentially fills that position with bow / staff in your suggestion. I'd hope they provide a close range magicka line first - - spell orb / book or aura/astral weaponry; something along those lines. Although some would argue that pets already provide the semblance of melee range magicka.

    But i cant blame you, as a Mag Dual Wield player 2015-2018 i know how it feels to want a different play style. However most people see such ideas as an abomination - which is why i think ZOS killed the play style off

    Highly unlikely they will give you this, is that's their direction :(

    Minor Staminasteal...tehres a reason thats not in the game, its cause staminaskills are already cheaper than magicka skills, and on a Stam DD you already have plenty of Sustain, and weaing 7 med also improves sustain by alot

    I primarily play stamina, but I honestly don't think stamina needs more weapons. What we could do is make builds that don't backbar bows more viable.

    Magicka, on the other hand, has desperately needed a new weapon since launch.

    They're not likely to add new weapons because it would require new visual assets, a lot of them.

    Say they add that "one-handed and magic" people have always wanted. Well, there are plenty of one-handed weapons already in game that they can use. No new models or assets required.

    Yes, every single thing I listed is already in the game. I took pieces here and there to hodgepodge something together to show a concept, not an overall finished design.

    This includes DMG + 3 second stun (shield line, 4th ability), and is actually technically worse than the shield line because it doesn't provide any other bonuses or debuffs.

    This also includes staminasteal. While its not a great amount, Nightblade Siphon line has this, and would essentially in concept be a similar amount.

    I do like the comments around closer range magicka as well, that would be a really cool fresh playstyle to bring in, or spears. I would argue you could probably bring in both spears/quarterstaves in the same line and just have it more of an appearance based situation.

    None of the staves in the game are designed like they would work as a bo staff or quarter staff, most of them are more like spears/halberds if anything.

    I am always open to more options.

    Adding options in games like these is always a good thing except in cases where it floods an rng drop pool. Not sure how that would work in this case but a physical/poison/disease staff would be great.

    Why doesn't OP play magicka if that is the style of play they want to do?

    Besides, it would seem obvious that having 3 stamina damage based weapon so far and only one magicka one that magicka would be the basis of the next weapon added to the game.
