This is the first ESO Live I literally could not watch

Between the dizzying sound quality and similarly vertigo inducing camera work (not to mention the over saturation), I literally had to stop watching this stream, which is a shame because I play the game for DLC dungeons. (this was also after muting the sound and putting on subtitles, the camera work was still too much).

In the future, just do what you were doing before, all the past preview streams were fine, what happened with this one.
You said it yourself, there are also new viewers, why put them through this.

Luckily, PTS is monday, so by not watching I only wait a few days to read about what's coming.

Despite all those issues, it was hard to watch them talk about performance.
    They looked....uncomfortable....
I actually cringed watching them just bring it up. It was palpable. You could feel the uneasiness of it.

Completely deserving, of course. It didn't feel genuine, though. Like talking about your uncle with dementia. You know nothing you are going to say is good, but its flat out uncomfortable to even talk about.

They have no solutions to the performance issues. They do not even know where to begin fixing them as the issues lie at the very heart of the game's core and engine. They cannot fix performance without overhauling or rewriting it and that will never happen.

I urge people not to get their hopes up related to any sort of performance fixes coming in the November 2019 update. I full expect ZOS to tell us in three months that the performance fixes scheduled for the Fall 2019 update have been pushed to Winter 2020 update. Guess what they will say in January 2020. The performance fixes scheduled for that update have been pushed to the Spring 2020 Chapter. That delay will continue ad infinitum. Performance fixes are never coming.

Same engine and code was working more or less ok half-year ago. They just need to expand hardware, but probably Todd thinks that won't pay off.

That's exactly the feeling I had, and why i think they looked uncomfortable.
They had to say SOMETHING, even if it was BS. And it most likely was. It absolutely did not feel genuine at all. Each time it was mentioned, they very quickly changed the subject.
I certainly don't feel confident after watching that, despite them saying they are confident. They said it with a total lack of confidence....lol....why should we?

    It was a horrific display.
"Hey, we know we're lying, and you know we're lying....but we're going to do it anyway" kind of feeling.

    That's oversimplified.

Yes, the issues got a LOT worse in the last half year. ZOS has explicitly said that's because they had an influx of new players.

But the strain on the system has been obvious for years. Players were warning ZOS about Group Finder issues well in advance of the last two Undaunted Events. Cyrodiil performance has been horrible for well over two years and hasn't seen substantial improvements.

By now, its obvious that ESO breaks down when lots of players try to use part of the game at the same time.

Exactly, this has been going on for years already and the overall performance is getting worse all the time slowly but surely. The strategy of Zenimax is creating the illusion of better performance in the future so players would tolerate the problems in hopes they'll get fixed at some point. I remember Midyear Mayhem 2017 when I thought they would make ESO clearly better when they had enough time, now 2019 I cannot even log in with my main EU account at all and it's most likely game over for me with ESO forever at this point. So now I don't even want to hear or read any garbage about any performance improvements.

I bet they saved a lot of money on the megaserver concept.

Maybe they could use all that money to upgrade it?

It's not just hardware. There really comes a point at which throwing more hardware at a problem won't fix it. I'm sure it'd help a little, but this is true "They do not even know where to begin fixing them as the issues lie at the very heart of the game's core and engine." They don't even know what code they'd have to fix to fix the database issues. They would have to forgo growth and profit for months to take the time to fix this problem, and I doubt that'd happen too. I agree with @LonePirate 1000%

Well, from my server admin experience, you can't extend hardware without updating software - this is needed even when you keep similar hardware config but replace if for more powerful. So if current software reached engine limit in terms of this adaptations, then yes major update of "engine" is required, but there is nothing impossible in it. I worked in mobile network and "engines" were changed at average once in 2 years. And they were changed with zero (0) downtime (if everything was going as planned). So it's all question of time and money.
It's question to Bethesda/Zenimax if they see future in ESO, or they think that this is already outdated game with population who already have all houses and mounts they need and another new project will be more profitable. From their answers it seems like they don't see any future and game will be spiraling downwards well-known road with more powerful sets in new patches and more flashy outfits in store.
I already see that dragonscale sets as necessary ones.

Has ESO actually had no verbal or written response on the actually game performance ? I’d love to hear it. I’d love to also hear why they have customer feedback and “customer service” when they have stated basically that by agreeing to terms and service we agree that the games trash and may or may not work no matter how many crowns or dlcs you purchase as a “customer”.

I haven't tuned in in a while due to work, when did the audio change to headsets? They're giving off some kind of high-frequency noise that's physically painful to my ears...
