Baandari Pedlar crown crate furniture

As many of you already know, the new Baandari Pedlar crown crate season has three exclusive furnishing items amongst its pool of possible contents. I thought I'd post some in-game pictures and some info so that they may help you decide whether you find the items worth getting or if you are not interested in them and thus can avoid potential disappointment. The three items are: the Baandari Lunar Compass, the Pile of Dubious Riches and The Mane, Moons-Blessed. All three are in the gold 'Legendary' category which means that they are unfortunately rare to get directly from the crates. The cost of purchasing them directly is 100 crown gems each.

The Baandari Lunar Compass is interactable, turning the projection on and off, and it gives off faint blue light when turned on. Also, all three items have proper 'bottoms' (although the bottom on the Pile of Dubious Riches is oddly discoloured in the middle) and they have proper collision so you can walk/stand on top of them.

A quirk of the Baandari Lunar Compass is that the position of the arrow is not tied to direction that the item is facing, but will always point towards the North (just like the arrow on the Baandari mounts). The statue of the Mane is pretty detailed, with gold parts that catch the light quite well. As a comparison to the Pile of Dubious Riches, I included a picture of the Mountain of Loot furnishing (10,000 gold from Outlaw's Den merchants, requires the Black Market Mogul achievement); the crown crate treasure pile is clearly more detailed, has better colours and has a proper bottom while the achievement treasure is hollow on the underside.

While I think the price of the items is a bit too high, and I wish that we had less crown-store and crown-crate exclusive furniture and more in-game obtainable ones, overall I think these items are nice. What I'm really displeased with though is the fact that the Mountain of Loot achievement item is so inferior compared to the Dubious Pile of Riches... I get that they will make some crown-exclusive furniture, but regular craftable or achievement-unlocked furniture should still be viable next to them with the same standard of quality, so it's sad to see that a functionally and graphically better version of an ingame item should be added to the crown-store instead of adding the uprezzed version that's obtainable through in-game means like the original. Anyhow, your opinions may vary of course, so let me know what you think, and I hope this helped you make an informed decision about whether or not to get these new furnishings for one your own homes!

Lol. I guess I already look quite guilty on that front huh? In my defence, the compass actually dropped for me from a crate, and I only bought the other two with gems I had. :cold_sweat: *vague embarassed marine mammal noises*

I'm curious about this passage: why do you think this is a quirk (always pointing North, I mean)? Isn't that what compass are supposed to do?

Anyway, thanks for the post, great infos

Thanks for the pictures and descriptions, the pile of gold does look better than the achievement counterpart, even though that achievement takes a long time to get. At least the achievement pile can be obtained in multiples since it costs gold, whereas 100 gems for the crown one is already too much. I like the compass best, I wish it were a collectible, so it could be used in multiple homes.

The pile of gold is definitely nicer than anything we had in game, but too expensive imo. I think the achievement gold pile needs an upgrade!

If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it. People judging those of us who have crown store items seems petty AF. The day I let internet strangers decide what I can choose for birthday, Christmas, anniversary gifts, etc. is the day...well that's just not gonna happen. :D

    LOL What?

Would you prefer to be poor? ...or you want other people to believe that you are poor? I don't understand this.

It used to be that people would be embarrassed for being poor, now people are embarrassed because they're not poor. :D

I decided to call attention to it since it seemed like a unique furniture behavior that's unprecedented - we've never had an item that took positioning into account, so I wanted to clarify that the arrow will move independently from the rest of the projection to point towards the North no matter how we rotate the compass!

Yeah, I totally agree! It would be a lot more user-friendly if the crown-crate-exclusive furnishings would unlock in the collections (like other crown crate stuff already does) rather than being individual items. I'm pretty sure nobody will buy them twice either, so it's not like they'll be making a lot of money on duplicate sales when they're priced at 100 (maybe if they were in the superior or the epic tier, but legendary? No way )

And yes, that's why I was a little irritated at the new treasure pile. I worked hard to get that achi (I mean, if stealing and murdering people for laundering loot can be considered work :smirk:) and I was sad to see how cheap and trashy my treasure looks next to the new one. Wish they had added that uprezzed gold pile to the achievement vendor... after all, what's next? They'll keep adding upgraded high-resolution versions of other furniure to the crown crates that make our normal furniture lose appeal? A bit disappointing.
