89 pages and it gets shut down for being none constructive....... ?

That thread was full of so many useful examples on how lore breaking and nonsensical taking away the Bosmer stealth passive was.

I couldn't begin to repeat everything that was discussed there. I really hope that some of the devs had taken the time to read through that and and see how our Bosmer are suffering.

It got shut down to prevent "further" "spiraling". Eitherway, we are not supposed to discuss moderating actions on the forum, even if that moderator gives pretty much the same response to every thread closed almost as if they aren't even being read...

Maybe we could create a "best of" thread. And collect what we had there and then continue like it was page 89.

Its script - in the same way CS from any company always have templates they just copy and paste in support tickets so that everyone gets the "same" treatment and to avoid confusion. Someone always decides what scripts are used for the moderating team and because people get them confused with the community team and thus anything they say can be construed as "official statements from ZoS" etc. In other words, they're protecting themselves doing that.

I understand them not wanting us to discuss those actions on the forums but... how on earth are you able to hold anyone to account if they cannot be criticized or any group of people? I suppose the mods are just doing as they are told but still.

Agreed. I almost want to think they shut it down to avoid the embarrassment of a 100 page thread that had no official response to its subject.

Max can't re-do his thread, that would be against forum rules. But as far as I'm aware, nothing prevents someone else from starting a thread about Bosmer stealth. I mean, it's part of the game..... not like it's irrelevant or off topic.

It was just another example of how useless 'detect' is . . . All the Bosmer from that thread couldn't detect a slap across the face and a shut down was coming from someone who doesn't ever communicate with concerned customers.

Oh, Max can. It just can't be identical. If the thread gets changed up just a bit, it should be okay. We could call it an "endless discussion until Bosmer stealth gets fixed" thread and it would be exactly as advertised. Nobody could complain then because we are doing exactly as we are saying. Unless of course that is "non-constructive" ;)

@BlueRaven As soon as we settled for a new thread to inhabit, we'll continue to do the counting, continuing with 89. ZOS might be able to pretend it doesn't have 100 pages, but once we've hit page 100, we could change the name to "100 pages of ignored feedback to missing Bosmer stealth"

Well I definitely will be looking for it. 😆

100% this. They couldn't respond because the only response was to admit the change was an error in judgement that made no sense, and met no "goals" and was actually contradictory - stealth isn't a universal mechanic, so let's replace it with something even less universal.

Congratulations for giving me yet another reason to only log in once a week to check on my guild (which has been around since beta). I haven't actually played in months.

Who makes the official decision to lock a thread? Is it just any Mod that wants to, or does word come down from on high? I am genuinely curious as I currently do not possess the knowledge.

Pretty sure it's the mod and just the mod. Why have mods if there are others making the decisions? You hire the mods for exactly that purpose. The one that closed the thread in question has been a mod since 20 June. Make of that what you will.

Edit: That 20th June might be false, since I figured that from the promotion to admin notification.

Then again, there were older moderations on that account too. Time travel?

I previously moderated forum boards for ESL a few years back when I was an admin there, if its anything like it was there then it isn't anyone per say unless the threads in question fall into a grey area regarding ToS or user behaviour in general. In my instance we were given a certain latitude to deal with problematic threads individually provided we strictly adhered to the rules (the latitude would come via what we considered troll or bait threads etc). MLA and Co-MLA would often decide in the grey situations for the specific game they are admins for in the case of forums. Not sure what ZoSs structure is however so I cannot say if they have any kinda of hierarchy akin to what we had at ESL.

Forum boards are very black and white as they tend to adhere to the ToS for forum usage.

Here is a link to the thread in question, feel free to start at page 1 and go to page 89.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

    Hello everyone,

With this thread discussing moderator actions which is against the Forum Rules, we're going to go ahead and close it down. For further posts be sure to stay constrictive and with the Forum Rules in mind to avoid thread derailment or action on one's own account.

    Thank you for understanding.
